Hannah Spearritt and Louie Spence quit Celebrity SAS first
The Channel 4 military reality show opened with the 14 celebrity recruits hooded and standing on a breakwater before they were asked for their identities by chief instructor Billy Billingham who told many of the celebrities 'don't grin at me'.
He then led them on two tasks, the first to plunge 26ft into the water and swim to intercept a boat, which picked them up, and the second to rescue three hostages from a building before blowing it up with a grenade.

Before the second challenge began, Spearritt, 44, handed over her number tag to directing staff, telling them: 'I'm done, I'm sorry, I've reached a point'.
In a pre-recorded interview which was played after her withdrawal, she said: 'I don't think I'll go on the first day,' adding she 'wouldn't forgive myself'.
During the task, Spence, who is best known for the Sky TV show Pineapple Dance Studios, threw a grenade into the building while it still had two hostages in it and afterwards told the directing staff he wanted to withdraw.
He was given a second chance to put his armband back on but turned it down.
Spence said: 'I want to do an immediate withdrawal, I just don't have the conviction, and I feel as though I'm not dedicated enough.'

He was told that he 'hadn't even started' but Spence replied 'that's what I mean'.
After the first task, former model Rebecca Loos was pulled in by directing staff after she gave up during the swimming challenge.
She was asked to open up on her alleged affair with footballer Sir David Beckham, who she worked for as a personal assistant, during the interrogation.
In an interview before the first task, former Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon Boulash said the show would be 'a piece of p***' after growing up as a queer person in Norfolk.
After the second task, former Watford striker Troy Deeney, who also threw a grenade into the building before clearing the hostages, was pulled in by the instructors where he opened up on physical abuse he and his mother received from his late father.
The show sees celebrities enter SAS training where they are not eliminated and are instead culled by the directing staff or able to withdraw themselves, with those who remain at the end declared the winners.

Jorgie Porter shows off her post-pregnancy physique in a beige bikini as she enjoys her final days of maternity leave in Marbella - before returning to Hollyoaks
She's currently enjoying a rather different moment in the sun after returning to work on Hollyoaks following the birth of her second child. But she had the real thing at her disposal back in July, and plenty of it, while spending the last precious days of her maternity leave on holiday in Marbella. The actress, best known for her role as Theresa McQueen in the long-running Channel 4 soap, showed off her post-pregnancy body as she hit the beach in skimpy beige swimwear. Porter, 37, was seen racing across the sand during her final appearance on the picturesque Mediterranean island, days before returning to work in Liverpool. The British star later cooled off beneath an outdoor shower before pulling a pair of tight black cycling shorts over her bikini bottoms and returning to her hotel. Porter appeared to be without fiancé Ollie Piotrowski as she rounded off her day by taking baby daughter Peony on a brief tour of a local port. The child, who was born in December, remained shaded in a sun hat as she sat in her pram during the outing. Porter recently confirmed her return to Hollyoaks would coincide with the teen soap's 30th anniversary. She told OK! magazine: 'Something really special is happening when I go back, which I can't give away, but it's exciting.' The actress said her character Theresa - who made her first appearance on the show in 2008 - will be 'scheming with an unlikely business partner.' Porter took time away from the soap after she welcoming her second child with Piotrowski. The couple are already parents to son Forest, two. She returned to the show in 2020 and has appeared periodically since then, including a two year spell from 2020 before her latest comeback in 2024. The actress was seen returning to the show's Liverpool set in August, after sharing behind-the-scenes social media content with her Instagram followers. Sharing a short video of herself dressed in character, she said: 'Guess who's on set! There she is! Filming for the latest... shhhh!' The actress, best known for her role as Theresa McQueen in the long-running Channel 4 soap, showed off her post-pregnancy body Porter was understood to be filming scenes for Hollyoaks spin-off show, Hollyoaks Later, during her appearance on Merseyside. The show, which usually airs after 9:00pm on E4, explores themes and storylines that the 6:30pm pre-watershed episode would not feature, including more sex and swearing. In October, to celebrate Hollyoaks' 30th birthday week, there will be another instalment of the post-watershed spin-off. The likes of Jamie Lomas, who plays Warren Fox, will also star alongside Porter in the special episode. Porter later pulled on a pair of black cycling shorts and sunglasses while taking baby daughter Peony on a short tour of a local port The child, who was born in December, remained shaded in a sun hat as she sat in her pram during the outing Speaking about the upcoming venture, Porter said: 'It's really exciting to be a part of Laters, I've been in so many over the years and they're always my favourite - hopefully I get a swear word this time. 'Theresa is scheming with an unlikely business partner and its fun to see her living life on the edge again. 'It's incredible to time my return with the Hollyoaks 30th birthday week too, I couldn't miss it.' Co-star Lomas added: 'It's great to be back for Hollyoaks 30th celebrations and what better way to return than a Laters. 'Warren has been busy since you last saw him, wanting to rebuild his empire and start afresh after the heartbreak with Mercedes. 'We'll be filming a lot on location and they're pulling out all the stops so I'm looking forward to it.' The official press release states: 'Hollyoaks Later has a history of airing some of soap's most spine-chilling twists over its 17-year tenure, and viewers can expect the same level of high-stakes drama for this Autumn special…' But not before seeing out the final days of her maternity leave on holiday in sunny Marbella

BBC Fawlty Towers cast 50 years on from brave comebacks to tragic health battles
The legendary BBC sitcom celebrates its golden anniversary next month, so let's take a look at what became of the core members of the cast September 19, 2025 should seem like an ordinary day but for the die-hard legions of Fawlty Towers fans t'll be a day they'll either give their cars a damn good thrashing or avoid being hit by a falling moose's head. That day will mark exactly 50 years since the first episode of arguably Britain's greatest sitcom first aired. The farcical exploits of Basil Fawlty and his dysfunctional team in their sorry-looking Torquay hotel have become the stuff of TV folklore. At the core of the show were the hilarious antics of hotel owner Basil Fawlty, portrayed by John Cleese, his patient wife Sybil, clever chambermaid Polly, played by Connie Booth, and the bumbling Spanish waiter Manuel. The idea for the show came to John after a stay at a Devon hotel with a memorable proprietor. That inspiration prompted both him and Booth, to whom he was married at the time, to write the play and bring it to life. It may have been off their air since 1979, but Fawlty Towers still left a huge legacy. It spawned a successful theatre production, fans worldwide still love the show and a reboot of the show created by Cleese and his daughter Camilla was announced in 2023. On the eve of its golden anniversary, we have a look at where the cast is now. John Cleese – Basil Fawlty The man needs no introduction. Cleese was comedy royalty by the time Fawlty Towers began thanks to his work on Monty Python and he would continue to enjoy immense success long after the show ended. At 85, he isn't slowing down and 2025 is proving a very busy year. He has written a book, Fawlty Towers: Fawlts and All, revealing his best memories from working on the show. He will also appear in a live Q&A in Bristol's St George concert hall on August 27 to launch his book and talk about the show's anniversary. In addition, Cleese will mark another golden jubilee for his other famous creation – Monty Python and the Holy Grail – with a Q&A tour across the US this autumn. He has been married to jewellery designer Jennifer Wade since his 2012, his fourth marriage following his break-ups from Connie Booth (in 1978), Barbra Trentham (in 1990) and Alyce Eichelberger (in 2008). He also has two children, Cynthia and Camilla. Prunella Scales – Sybil Fawlty Prunella Scales was already a star on the stage and small screen by the time Fawlty Towers began. Since her turn as Basil's long-suffering wife Sybil, the 93-year-old appeared in movies such as Howards End and The Hound of the Baskervilles. Those of a certain age will also remember her hilarious turn as Jane Horrocks' fictional mother in the famous Tesco ads from the 1990s. Fast forward to today and the acting legend is battling vascular dementia, with which she was diagnosed in 2013. But that did not stop Scales from taking on further projects. For instance, she appeared in the Channel 4 show Great Canal Journeys with her late husband Timothy West, while last year she made an acclaimed stage comeback at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – albeit a recorded part – as Queen Victoria in the play Queen. Connie Booth – Polly Sherman While Basil was losing his head, Polly - the calm and ambitious waitress played by Connie Booth - was keeping hers. The genius character provided a brilliant foil to the hot-headed hotelier and her lines were a testament to Booth's writing skills. Not that she wants to hear much about it, though, as she recently admitted in an interview with the Radio Times that she felt like a "counterfeit" instead of feeling "flattered" whenever people praise her work in creating Fawlty Towers. "For half a century, I've been receiving praise for lines which John wrote. When people quote back words from the script, instead of flattered I felt counterfeit. I've had to say, 'No, John wrote that'," she said. Booth was married to John Cleese between 1968 and 1978. Since then, she appeared in a few TV roles before quitting acting altogether in 1995 to become a psychotherapist. Now retired, the 84-year-old lives in north London with her second husband, American theatre critic John Lahr. Andrew Sachs – Manuel Andrew Sachs faced his own dramatic moments during filming. While shooting the legendary episode The Germans, a fire stunt that went awry left him suffering second-degree acid burns. He also became the victim of an accident involving a defective prop handled by actor John, resulting in a severe headache. Despite these incidents, his role as Manuel endeared Sachs to millions, among them Cleese who heaped praised on him. He once told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "If you met him you would never think for a moment that he was a comedian, you would think he was a rather cultivated bank manager possibly retired, because he was quite quiet and poised and thoughtful. And then you stuck that moustache on him and he turned into a completely different human being. He was wonderful." Sachs tragically died in November 2016 aged 86 following a struggle with vascular dementia. His widow Melody passed away 10 months later. Brian Hall – Terry Hughes Brian Hall, recognised for playing hotel chef Terry Hughes, developed a close bond with Cleese throughout the series. In an amusing incident years after filming concluded, Brian was given a personally signed autograph from John as a joke; Brian cheekily responded that he'd rather have a "signed Rolls-Royce car", which prompted John to post him a toy car instead. Sadly, Brian succumbed to cancer in a hospice in 1997, aged 59. A year before his death, he had a defiant message for the Mirror about his illness: "Cancer is a bully and I hate bullies. This old boy cancer will get about as much change out of me as all the other bullies I've met nothing."

Michelle Keegan returns to ITV for huge new job alongside Hollywood star
MICHELLE Keegan is celebrating returning to TV after becoming a first-time mum, playing a murder detective in a huge psychological thriller for ITV. But husband Mark Wright might be less thrilled as she'll be starring in the show, called The Blame, with Hollywood heartthrob Douglas Booth. 4 4 It's also the first time in eight years that Michelle, 38, has worked with ITV, which is where she shot to fame on Coronation Street between 2008 and 2014. A TV insider said: "This is quite sensational return-to-work for Michelle, bagging a big role in a drama which execs are clearly investing in hugely with an all-star cast including hunky Douglas. "It's quite a coup for ITV to tempt Michelle back too, because recently she's been making more shows for the BBC, Sky and Netflix, where she became a huge star." The new drama sees Michelle play DI Emma Crane alongside Douglas as DI Tom Radley who have to investigate what ITV calls: "a tragic death that spirals into a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise." The last time Michelle, who gave birth to daughter Palma Elizabeth Wright in March, was on ITV was playing Tina Moore, wife of football legend Bobby Moore, in the three-part drama Tina and Bobby in 2017. Since then she's had a string of hits including comedy Brassic on Sky, Ten Pound Pomms on BBC One as well as her biggest hit, Fool Me Once, which was viewed a staggering 107 million times in the first six months it was on Netflix. Meanwhile her co-star on The Blame, Douglas, 33, has appeared in a string of huge dramas. H He shot to fame in 2010 playing Boy George in BBC show Worried About the Boy, then went on to star in megabucks TV shows including Netflix's The Sandman as well as the movie, Mary Shelley. Six-parter The Blame is based on the debut novel of the same name by Charlotte Langley. It will also feature Harry Potter star Ian Hart and Line of Duty villain Nigel Boyle.
