Death in Paradise-style "cosy" detective show confirms exciting new-season update
The Marlow Murder Club will return to screens with an all-new series.
UKTV has announced that the detective show starring Jo Martin and Samantha Bond has been renewed for a third season, with filming already underway on the follow-up outing.
Cara Horgan and Natalie Dew will reprise their roles as Becks Starling and detective Tanika Malik, alongside fellow series regulars Holli Dempsey, Phill Langhorne and Tijan Sarr.
"Now an established part of newly promoted DI Tanika Malik's (Dew) crime solving team, retired archaeologist Judith Potts (Bond), dog walker Suzie Harris (Jo Martin) and vicar's wife Becks Starling (Horgan) are back and bringing their unconventional methods to a string of high-profile murders," teases the official show synopsis.
The recommission follows in the wake of season 2 which arrived on screens in April this year. The third season of The Marlow Murder Club will comprise of six episodes, with three new murder mysteries to solve, that will unfold over two episodes each.

"From the sudden death of the nicest man in Marlow, the town's beloved Mayor, to a celebrity chef found dead at the launch of his cookbook with half the town in attendance, the team will be working under the watchful eye of the Marlow community," the synopsis continues.
"They'll also be called to action at a university reunion in an eerie manor house where in a surprising twist, Becks finds herself amongst the suspects. Could this case threaten our amateur sleuths' roles as civilian advisors?"
The Marlow Murder Club is based on the bestselling book series of the same name by Robert Thorogood, who also created Death in Paradise and co-created its spin-off shows Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise.

Season three will be based on the third book in the franchise, Queen of Poisons, with Thorogood having also co-written the first two episodes of the next instalment with Daniel Rusteau.

No release date has been shared yet, but viewers can expect the new season to arrive on U and U&DRAMA in 2026.

'Doctor Who' season finale surprises fans with an exit — and a familiar face
LONDON (AP) — A familiar face to 'Doctor Who' fans is rejoining the long-running British sci-fi series as Ncuti Gatwa exits the lead role after two seasons. In Saturday's season finale, Gatwa's Time Lord regenerated and fans got a glimpse of Billie Piper, who played the character Rose Tyler for 35 episodes between 2005 and 2013. Tyler was a companion to versions of the doctor played by Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Producers are keeping Piper's new role secret — for now. 'Just how and why she is back remains to be seen,' the BBC said in a statement after the finale aired. 'It's an honour and a hoot to welcome her back to the TARDIS, but quite how and why and who is a story yet to be told,' showrunner Russell T Davies said in a statement. Piper said 'Doctor Who' has provided some of her best memories and she couldn't pass up the opportunity to come back. 'It's no secret how much I love this show, and I have always said I would love to return ... but who, how, why and when, you'll just have to wait and see,' she said. If Piper does indeed become the Doctor, she would be the third woman to fill the famous shoes. The Rwanda-born, Scotland-raised Gatwa, 29, was the first Black actor to helm the show, but he wasn't the first Black Doctor — Jo Martin played 'Fugitive Doctor' in several episodes. Gatwa took over the role from Jodie Whittaker in 2023. Whittaker was the 13th Doctor — and the first woman to play the central galaxy-hopping, extraterrestrial Time Lord who regenerates into new bodies. She took over from Peter Capaldi in 2017. 'Doctor Who' first aired from 1963 to 1989 and returned in 2005. In the U.S., new episodes air on Disney+.

Starring Keanu Reeves in the titular role, the film sees former assassin John Wick come out of retirement to avenge the murder of the puppy that was gifted to him by his late wife. The logline reads: "An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him." Directed by Chad Stahelski, the 2014 film was added to Prime Video in the UK and Ireland yesterday along with its sequel John Wick: Chapter 2. For those of you who want to watch the franchise in order, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is available to stream on Netflix. This comes ahead of the release of the John Wick spin-off movie From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, which is set for release in cinemas on June 6. The film was initially slated for release on 7 June 2024, but was pushed back in February 2024 after reshooting additional fight sequences. Ballerina stars Ana de Armas as an assassin named Eve Macarro, who is trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma. Related: Best streaming services Previously speaking about the movie in an interview with Collider, de Armas promised fans that the spin-off will be "sexy" and "dangerous". "I'm very proud of it. It's really exciting. It's dangerous, it's sexy, it's very John Wick," she said. "I think people are going to be surprised. I'm biased. Of course, I like the movie, but I think it's really cool. It's going to be amazing." On the reshoots, she said: "All we did in those reshoots had to be there. We got amazing footage. It's really spectacular." Star-studded "moreish" psychological drama gets new UK streaming home and you can watch it now
The star-studded psychological drama Little Fires Everywhere has found a new streaming home in the UK. The miniseries, which stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, was previously available to stream on Prime Video, but it left the streaming service earlier this month. Based on Celeste Ng's 2017 book of the same name, the 2020 series was recently added to Disney+ where you can watch all eight episodes now. Little Fires Everywhere follows the paths of two families whose lives become intertwined as secrets are unveiled and betrayals begin to take place. Per the logline, the series follows "a picture-perfect family and the mother and daughter who upend their lives". Related: Watch Reese Witherspoon cast young Elle Woods for Legally Blonde prequel in emotional video Joining Witherspoon and Washington on the cast are Dawson's Creek actor Joshua Jackson, Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams, The Princess and the Frog's Anika Noni Rose, and Lexi Underwood. The miniseries was popular among critics, receiving a score of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes from 80 reviews. The Guardian described Little Fires Everywhere as "moreish, searing, excellent. What it is not is nuanced", while The Sydney Morning Herald said this: "The cast here is fantastic (the kids are unbelievably good) and it's packed with clever detail." The New York Times wrote: "It's a busy and reasonably intriguing story if you skate over its less convincing twists. And it benefits from excellent work by Washington and Underwood." Related: How to Train Your Dragon gets new UK streaming home ahead of the remake's release "Shenanigans aside, what makes Little Fires Everywhere perfect for our current, stranger-than-fiction moment is the ordinariness of the lives it presents," penned Vogue. The Age praised Witherspoon's lead performance, writing: "This is, in fact, one of the best performances of Witherspoon's career. It's doubtful there's a more self-aware actress in Hollywood, or one who is better at challenging our expectations even as she is meeting them." "More than Little Fires Everywhere's soapy and somewhat predictable twists and turns, it is the interplay between its two leads that generates the most worthwhile heat," wrote The New Republic. Little Fires Everywhere is available to stream now on Disney+ in the UK. Digital Spy's first print magazine is here!
