Nicolas Cage returns as Spider-Noir in first look at live-action series for Prime Video

The Hindu13-05-2025

Nicolas Cage is officially stepping into the shadows as Spider-Man Noir, this time in live action. Prime Video has released the first look at Spider-Noir, showing Cage suited up in the black-and-white costume fans will recognize from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The series, based on the Spider-Man Noir comics, is set in 1930s New York and follows an aging private investigator who must confront his past as the city's only superhero. Cage, who voiced the character in the animated Spider-Verse film, now takes on the role in a full live-action format. The show will be available in both black-and-white and color versions when it premieres in 2026.
Spider-Noir will first air domestically on MGM+'s linear channel before streaming globally on Prime Video. The ensemble cast includes Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, and Jack Huston. A number of guest stars are also confirmed, including Lukas Haas and Cameron Britton.
The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video. Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) is directing and executive producing the first two episodes. Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel's The Punisher) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. The show was developed in collaboration with Spider-Verse filmmakers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, all of whom return as executive producers.
While not directly tied to the Spider-Verse films, Spider-Noir draws from the same gritty tone and visual style, with a darker, more grounded take on the superhero mythos.

Nushrratt Bharuccha REACTS to receiving backlash for moving a fellow model aside on the runway at fashion event: 'She wasn't even a model—she was one of the...'

Nushrratt Bharuccha has responded to criticism regarding her conduct at a recent fashion event. A video showed her seemingly moving a fellow model. She clarified that the individual was a student designer unfamiliar with runway norms. Nushrratt was following instructions to take her position. Her recent film, Chhorii 2, is now available on Prime Video. After facing backlash for allegedly pushing a fellow model on the ramp at a fashion event, actor Nushrratt Bharuccha has finally addressed the controversy. In a new interview with Yuvaa, she clarified what really happened and set the record straight. The viral video showed Nushrratt making her way to the centre of the ramp by gently moving another model aside. At the end of the runway, she appeared to reposition a fellow model before calling two others to pose beside her—ultimately blocking the first model from view. The moment triggered a wave of backlash online, with many accusing Nushrratt of displaying unnecessary 'attitude' during the show. 'She Wasn't Even a Model' Addressing the backlash, the actress clarified that the person she moved aside wasn't a professional model but one of the student designers from the NIF class who was unfamiliar with ramp etiquette. She explained that with loud music and backstage instructions to take her position at the centre, she simply followed protocol. Nushrratt added that it wasn't about being a showstopper—any model knows the basics of walking to the centre, pausing, and turning back, which is standard runway practice. What's Next for Nushrratt? Meanwhile, Nushrratt was last seen in Chhorii 2, directed by Vishal Furia . A sequel to the 2021 horror film Chhorii, the film was produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, and Jack Davis. It also starred Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Saurabh Goyal. Did you know Jitendra Kumar's 'Panchayat' has a special connection to Malgudi Days?

The highly anticipated fourth season of the acclaimed web series Panchayat is set to premiere on July 2, 2025. Known for its authentic portrayal of rural India, the show's director, Deepak Kumar Mishra , has revealed a significant inspiration behind its creation: the beloved classic Malgudi Days. Malgudi Days as a creative muse Director Deepak Kumar Mishra openly credits classic Indian television, particularly RK Narayan's Malgudi Days, as a profound inspiration for Panchayat. He expressed a desire to reignite viewers' nostalgia for such shows, connecting that fondness to the realities of contemporary rural life. Mishra's aim was to craft a narrative that echoes the simplicity and depth of village life, reminiscent of the heartfelt storytelling that defined Malgudi Days. The significance of the name 'Panchayat' During the release of the second season, Mishra elaborated on the thoughtful choice behind the series' title. He explained, "A panchayat in India is the personification of what village life is." He aimed to bridge the gap between classic Indian television and modern audiences, stating, "When we were kids, we grew up watching shows like Malgudi Days and Panchatantra. This had the essence of small village culture. We aimed to show the new-age generation what we grew up watching back in the day. 'Panchayat's name connects viewers to their motherlands.' About the series and upcoming season Panchayat follows Abhishek Tripathi, an engineering graduate who finds himself as the secretary of a Panchayat office in the fictional Uttar Pradesh village of Phulera. The series masterfully blends humor with heartfelt moments as Abhishek navigates the complexities of rural administration and community dynamics. The upcoming fourth season, whose teaser has already generated excitement, promises to delve deeper into the intricacies of village politics and personal relationships. Nushrratt Bharuccha defends moving model aside at Lakmé Fashion Week after backlash: ‘I was told from backstage…'

Bollywood actor Nushrratt Bharuccha walked at Lakmé Fashion Week 2025 for NIF Global: The Runway in March. A video from the event surfaced online, showing the actor moving aside a fellow model on the runway. She received significant backlash on social media. Now, in an interview with Yuvaa, Nushrratt has finally addressed the incident. (Also Read: Nushrratt Bharuccha on casual sexism in film world: If I'm being told this isn't your place, sometimes I have to shut up) The video in question showed Nushrratt making space for herself in the centre of the ramp by moving aside another model. As she reached the end of the ramp, where the models were posing, Nushrratt moved aside a girl, and the two smiled at each other. Moments later, she asked two other girls to stand beside her, completely blocking the previous model from view. The clip sparked criticism of Nushrratt's conduct on the runway, with many accusing her of 'showing attitude'. Responding to the backlash and explaining her actions, Nushrratt said, "She wasn't even a model—she was one of the designers, one of the children from the NIF class, who didn't know about ramp shows or centre stage. What was I supposed to do? She was standing in the centre, there was loud music, and I was told from backstage, 'Please make your space and take your position.' So how do I make space? Forget being a showstopper—any model who walks knows that you walk to centre stage, then turn and walk back. That's basic." Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, and Jack Davis, the film is a sequel to Chhorii (2021), and also features Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Saurabh Goyal in key roles. While Soha and Nushrratt were praised for their performances, the lack of jump scares disappointed some fans. The film is available to watch on Prime Video. Nushrratt has yet to announce her next project.
