LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a local fishing vessel off Kampung Bakapit waters for failing to report change of skipper. Lahad Datu Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Commander Dzulfikhar Ali, said MMEA personnel conducting Ops Pluto Timur and Ops Tiris in the area intercepted the vessel and upon inspection found it failed to comply with the rules requiring it to report any change of skipper. 'MMEA views this non-compliance seriously as it is closely related to navigation safety and control of local fishing activities. 'Any change of skipper must be reported to ensure the licence and qualifications of the skipper are valid and recognised,' he said. The vessel was brought back to Lahad Datu Fishery jetty and handed over to the Lahad Datu Zone MMEA investigation officer for further action. Bodies of missing couple Tanjung Harapan boat accident recovered
A TRAGIC boat accident off Tanjung Harapan, Port Klang, has claimed five lives, including a married couple whose bodies were found drowned near North Port early this morning. The incident, which occurred during a test drive of the boat, involved six people. Three died at the scene, one survived, and two were initially missing. None of the victims were wearing life jackets, complicating the search and rescue efforts. The missing couple, Gan Hon Tat and Careen Man, both from Klang Utama, were among the deceased. Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) enforcement and excise unit operations officer Lieutenant Mohd Syafiq Sazali said both victims were Malaysian nationals. 'The bodies were found floating at 7.42am about 0.1 nautical miles from North Port, Port Klang,' he said. 'We recovered the bodies using assets from the Fire and Rescue Department and brought them to the Selangor Maritime jetty,' he added. Man electrocuted while picking mangoes in Papar

The incident was reported at 3.01pm, prompting the District Fire and Rescue team to arrive at the scene seven minutes later. Advertisement According to public witnesses, the victim had climbed a tree and used a metal rod to harvest mangoes, which accidentally touched a nearby live wire. Sabah Electricity cut the power supply before firefighters safely brought the unconscious victim down using a ladder and rescue rope. Three injured in Sook road accident

The Sook Fire and Rescue Station received the emergency call at 11.38am and arrived at the scene, located 4 kilometres away, within seven minutes. Advertisement One of the victims was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be rescued using hydraulic equipment by firefighters. All three victims - a 60-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman - were later handed over to medical personnel for treatment.
