
Elderly motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash in Batu Pahat
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident occurred at about 6.20pm on Thursday (July 10) when the victim attempted to make a left turn into the main road towards Batu Pahat town.
"He collided with a Proton Saga driven by a 35-year-old man, which was heading straight from the town centre towards Tanjung Laboh.
"The impact caused the car to hit a Perodua Axia, which then veered into the opposite lane and crashed into a Perodua Kancil and a Perodua Viva," he said in a press statement on Friday (July 11).
The elderly rider sustained severe injuries to the head and limbs as well as internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat added that the Proton Saga driver sustained serious head injuries while the drivers of the other two cars sustained minor injuries and were all treated at Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail here.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Tawau woman claims hubby hit her for answering the door late
KOTA KINABALU: A woman in Tawau district has alleged that her husband punched her because she was late in opening their room door when he knocked. Tawau acting OCPD Supt Champin Piuh said that in the midnight incident on Saturday (Aug 15), the suspect, an immigrant in his 30s, had knocked on the door of their rented room at Jalan Dunlop, as he wanted to go to bed. 'However, the woman in her 50s was late to respond," he said on Sunday (Aug 16), adding that it could have been because she was asleep. He then punched her on the left arm when she finally unlocked the door, he added. Supt Champin said the woman lodged a report on the incident, and police detained the man at 1.50pm on Saturday in Tawau town. He said the case is being investigated for domestic violence and under the Immigration Act 1959/63. 'We take domestic violence cases seriously and would not hesitate to take stern action against perpetrators,' he added. Motorcyclist dies after crashing into concrete barrier in Beaufort

BEAUFORT: A motorcyclist was killed early Saturday morning after his Yamaha NVX collided with a concrete barrier along Jalan Beaufort near Kg. Lumat. The victim has been identified as Emang Abu, 50, a Bugis and private sector worker. Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Wong Leong Meng said the incident occurred at around 6am as the rider was travelling from Papar to Beaufort. 'Preliminary investigations revealed that upon reaching a left diversion at the Pan Borneo road construction site, the rider went straight ahead and crashed into the barrier, sustaining serious head and body injuries,' he said. Emang was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer. His body was later sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.
