EastEnders star's son, 1, rushed to hospital after trampoline accident

Metro02-05-2025
Former EastEnders star James Bye's infant son was rushed to hospital excessively vomiting after suffering a fall on a trampoline.
Martin Fowler actor James and his wife of thirteen years Victoria share four children – Edward, ten, Louis, eight, Hugo, five, and Rufus, who turns two next month.
Victoria runs an Instagram account documenting life events for the family, and told her 130,000 followers that Rufus had been hospitalised after their recent holiday.
'So, it all started earlier this week, when just before bed the boys were outside on the trampoline. And I've said it before, (and I'll say it again) Those bloody trampolines will be the end of me' she said.
'And as I'm watching, somewhat half-heartedly (let's be honest, I'm shattered, it's half term, James is working & there's only so many 'Mummy watch me's' I can take) when Rufus, who was happily playing with a trail of ants (whatever keeps him quiet) suddenly clambered up & in slow motion took a spin, promptly landing on his head.
'After much crying (and frantic checking of doctor Google) he seemed to be ok & calling it a day, I thankfully got them all to bed.'
She called 111 during the night, and the youngster was subsequently diagnosed with gastroenteritis rather than concussion, with the rest of the clan then picking up the same bug.
According to the NHS, gastroenteritis is a common inflammation of the stomach and intestines caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites.
Victoria continued: 'Over the next few days there has been a vom-fest the likes of which I've never seen before.
'I'm talking up the walls, in the door frame, all over the carpet & bum squits galore.

James left the BBC soap in February in explosive scenes – quite literally. The Queen Vic pub blew up, and Martin was trapped beneath the rubble.
Clambering through the wreckage to escape, he stopped for a heart to heart with ex-wife Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and was subsequently crushed by a falling beam.
James has already landed a new role, playing Mr Darcy in a production of Death Comes To Pemberley.

Brooklyn Beckham distressed over claims wife Nicola Peltz 'hasn't backed down for months'

The star is said to be 'excruciated by everything' Brooklyn Beckham has spoken out to quash rumours that his wife Nicola Peltz is controlling him, as close pals reveal his distress over the negative portrayal of his spouse. The eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham is upset by claims that Nicola is unfairly targeted following reports that his family was not invited to their wedding vow renewal ceremony. ‌ An insider commented: "It's so rooted in misogyny that all of the heat for his parents not being invited is on Nicola. Everyone seems to forget that Brooklyn is an adult man and fully capable of speaking out. Nicola would have respected all that he chose. It breaks Brooklyn's heart to see his wife being painted as this vixen and viper." ‌ The 'Lola' star has faced allegations of cutting her husband off from both his relatives and mates. Observers have noted that at the August 2 event, which Nicola's father Nelson officiated, there appeared to be an absence of Brooklyn's extended family and British friends. ‌ While Brooklyn has not officially responded to the controversy, he recently made his feelings clear through social media actions. He liked an Instagram comment from a user who stood up for Nicola. The commenter had stated: "Why is it assumed that she made the decision to exclude them? ... If he really wanted his parents there, they would be." The Mirror has recently reported on the severe rift between David and Victoria Beckham and their daughter-in-law, which resulted in the couple only learning about the vow renewal through online news and photographs, reports the Mirror. Friends of Nicola and Brooklyn have revealed that his siblings Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, were also excluded from the event following what they describe as a string of online jibes. ‌ A source commented: "Brooklyn's brothers have been fanning the flames. They've openly made fun of and trolled Brooklyn in comments on social media." However, there are those who question the necessity of ostracising the entire family. Excluded from the August 2 festivities in the US were all the Beckhams - including little sister Harper, as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. An insider confided to the Mirror: "Why punish the whole family for what is essentially a fallout with just the mum and dad?" ‌ It was reportedly difficult to not invite Harper, 14, given her closeness to Brooklyn and the grandparents. A friend remarked: "They are trying to make the best decisions for them in what are very unfortunate circumstances. Navigating family stuff is hard and it's ugly." Despite the current estrangement, the couple maintains hope for mending ties. The same friend added: "The door is open. No one wants to see this kind of pain exist. There is always hope. At the end of the day, blood is thicker than water."

BBC hit by complaints over EastEnders' ‘inappropriate sex scene'

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) ONE scene in a recent episode of EastEnders ruffled some viewers' feathers and they rushed to BBC to complain. In June, EastEnders showed how the loveable Alfie Moon continued to struggle with erectile dysfunction — a common side effect for men such as him who have had treatment for prostate cancer. 5 EastEnders viewers complained about a scene in an episode from June Credit: BBC 5 They complained to the BBC about Kat trying to seduce her husband, Alfie Credit: BBC 5 But the BBC decided the scene did not violate any standards Credit: BBC The episode in question showed Alfie rebuff his wife Kat Slater's advances after she shows up wearing sexy lingerie and attempts to seduce him, unaware of his erectile dysfunction. When Alfie rejects her advances, Kat becomes upset after worrying about their sex life. And to make matters worse, she finds porn on a laptop at home and presumes it belonged to her husband. Kat did not know that, in fact, that it was their son, Tommy, who had been the one watching porn. Despite getting rave reviews for the educational story line about Alfie's prostate cancer, some people were not happy with the scene and complained to the Beeb. The BBC published its latest list of complaints and it showed a grievance for "inappropriate sexual content" during the June 10 episode. The public broadcaster reviewed the complaint and decided it was "not upheld," and the content was not inappropriate. Alfie actor, Shane Richie, opened up to The Sun about the positive impact his prostate cancer storyline had on people. Shane, 61, has played Alfie Moon on EastEnders for over two decades after he first joined the BBC One soap in 2002. One in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime, according to Prostate UK, who along with Macmillan Cancer Support, worked with Shane and the EastEnders writing team on the storyline. Shane said in June: 'I was going to events, men my age were coming up to me, but mostly women, wives saying 'thank you so much for covering that storyline, because my husband, my brother... they don't want to go to the doctors.' 'One guy in particular, and I don't personally take credit for saving his life, but that storyline did. EastEnders' Shane Richie reveals new trauma for Alfie Moon amid prostate cancer storyline 'He got checked. His daughter was a big EastEnders fan, and just quite casually said, come on, we love Alfie, you should go and get checked and he did just to appease his daughter. One in eight men will get prostate cancer The risk of developing prostate cancer depends on many factors, here are some of the facts about the disease and how many men it affects. One in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime It is the fourth most common cancer worldwide, and the most common in men There are 55,000 new cases every year in the UK, and 1.4million globally Around 12,000 people lose their lives to prostate cancer annually in the UK and almost 400,000 around the world Prostate cancer accounts for 28 per cent of all new cancer cases in men in the UK, and 14 per cent of all new cancer cases in men and women combined Prostate cancer survival has tripled in the last 50 years in the UK More than three-quarters (78 per cent) of patients survive for 10 or more years About 490,000 men are living with and after prostate cancer in the UK It is most common in men aged 75 to 79 Since the early 1990s, cases have increased by 53 per cent in the UK Mortality rates are up 16 per cent since the early 1970s in the UK Incidence rates are projected to rise by 15 per cent in the UK between 2023 to 2025 and 2038 to 2040 Mortality rates are expected to fall five per cent in the UK over the same years Source: Prostate Cancer UK, World Cancer Research Fund International and Cancer Research UK 'He found out he had prostate cancer but it was at the early stages, had it left in any longer it could have been fatal. So if we just save one life, that's the power of soaps.' Shane took an extended break from Eastenders over the summer where he spent a month touring with best mates, Bradley Walsh, Brian Conley and Joe Pasquale. 5 Kat felt rejected by Alfie Credit: BBC
