Linkin Park is back on top. The band, which has been known to dominate Billboard's rock charts regularly, returns to familiar territory this week as its latest single becomes a quick leader. The track 'Up From the Bottom' vaults to No. 1 on one ranking shortly after arriving, as it's clear that there was a huge interest in more new music from the outfit.
Last week, 'Up From the Bottom' earned a limited showing across Billboard's rankings. It managed to debut on just two tallies, primarily due to its late arrival during one tracking frame. Despite that handicap, it still managed to emerge as a quick bestseller, opening high on both the Rock Digital Song Sales and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales charts.
This week, with a full frame of sales, streams, and radio spins behind it, the cut leaps across the board. On the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales tally, the group climbs from No. 5 to No. 1, landing a new leader on the genre-specific list.
As it soars, 'Up From the Bottom' becomes Linkin Park's fourteenth No. 1 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. In 2024, the band collected two new winners, as both 'The Emptiness Machine' and 'Heavy Is the Crown,' taken from the full-length From Zero, reached the pinnacle of the tally. Those tracks held on for two and three frames at No. 1, respectively.
'Up From the Bottom' is the latest addition to an already-impressive résumé. Throughout the years, Linkin Park has watched several of its most beloved tracks not just reach No. 1, but stay there for a long time. 'Burn It Down' leads as the band's longest-reigning champion, as it once held the top spot for an incredible 29 weeks.
Another standout, 'In the End' — the breakout single that helped define the band as global superstars — dominated the same chart for 11 frames. Linkin Park has placed 40 different songs onto the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales list, and an astounding 30 of those have broken into the top 10.
Now that the track has had a full tracking week to perform, it reaches several other tallies. 'Up From the Bottom' debuts on more than 10 additional Billboard charts, and it's an immediate smash on several of them.
The single is performing best on the rock-leaning rankings, which comes as no surprise. It lands inside the top 10 on half a dozen different tallies, including some that factor in streaming and radio play, as well as pure purchases.
'Up From the Bottom' is not a standalone hit. The song serves as the lead single from a deluxe reissue of From Zero, the band's most recent full-length, which is expected sometime soon.
That album dropped in late 2024 and was framed as a comeback effort, as it arrived more than half a decade after the death of Chester Bennington. Despite the tragedy, the band pushed forward, and From Zero quickly became a commercial and critical win. Its opening single, 'The Emptiness Machine,' helped drive early success, while follow-up tunes – every single one on the project, actually – became a chart win in one respect or another.
