Arizona Cardinals release Austrian TE Bernhard Seikovits, OL Matthew Jones
A day after the Arizona Cardinals announced the addition of six rookie free agents, they had to trim the offseason roster. They made those moves on Tuesday.
They released that tight end Benhard Seikovits and offensive lineman Matt Jones were released.
Jones was added to the practice squad in late December and then re-signed for 2025. He joined the NFL last year as an undrafted rookie out of Ohio State and signed with the Miami Dolphins. He was cut before the season began and then was not in the league until the Cardinals added him to the practice squad.
Seikovits' release is the end of an era. He spent the last four years with the Cardinals on the practice squad through the international exemption for coming through the league's International Pathways Program. He was awarded to the team in May of 2021 and had been with the team ever since.
The Cardinals are now using their international exemption on rookie free agent Valentin Senn, an offensive lineman out of Connecticut. He, like Seikovits, is from Austria.
With that exemption, we can Senn to be with the team all season.

Ray Ford, who lost that WBA strap to Ball just over a year ago, has moved up to super featherweight and takes on Abraham Nova as he seeks his rebuild mission to a world title shot. Elsewhere, Filip Hrgovic takes on David Adeleye in a vital heavyweight contest for two fighters also rebuilding. Hrgovic beat Joe Joyce last time out, but his defeat by Daniel Dubois before that means the 33-year-old Croatian must win to keep his world titles ambitions on track. Travis Hunter Makes Personal Decision With Wife Leanna Lenee
Travis Hunter Makes Personal Decision With Wife Leanna Lenee originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Travis Hunter, the star hybrid from Colorado who was the No. 2 pick in April's NFL draft, is preparing for his rookie season in the league as the Jacksonville Jaguars continue training camp. He seems to have the ability to revitalize the Jaguars after a couple of rough seasons. He played both wide receiver and cornerback for coach Deion Sanders at Colorado, and by all indications, he will continue to do so in the pros, although the Jaguars seem to be prioritizing his offensive abilities. In the meantime, Hunter and his wife, Leanna Lenee, have added a new member to their household. Three's a Crowd for Hunter and Lenee The couple doesn't have any children right now, but they do have a fur baby. The two adopted a baby cat, and they documented their search for the right one on social media. It seems to make sense that Hunter and his wife would adopt a cat rather than a dog or a parrot, as he plays for a team that is named after one of the largest and deadliest cat species in the world. According to People magazine, Hunter and Lenee started dating in early 2022, and the two were engaged in February 2024 and got married in May of this year. Interestingly, Lenee is a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Over the last couple of years, Hunter has lavished Lenee with two expensive gifts -- a Tesla Model X and a custom Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 BRABUS 800. Lenee returned the favor by gifting Hunter a Ram truck for his 21st birthday. Could the Jaguars Be Poised To Bounce Back This Year? Jacksonville has won a combined 13 games over the last two seasons after getting hot down the stretch of the 2022 season and advancing to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs in 2022. The team is hoping that quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the $275 million man, will bounce back after a weak and injury-riddled 2024 campaign. He threw for 2,045 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions and completed 60.6% of his pass attempts while missing seven games due to a concussion and shoulder injury. Hunter should give him a reliable target on offense. The 22-year-old caught 98 passes and registered 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns while also recording 11 passes defended and four interceptions in 2024. The Jaguars badly need some studs on defense, and they could also use another viable playmaker other than wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who had a stellar rookie campaign last year. They likely won't make the playoffs in a crowded AFC, but perhaps they could take a big jump forward and make the race for the postseason interesting as long as Hunter lives up to story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Jalen Hurts Getting Praised for What He Did on Sunday
Jalen Hurts Getting Praised for What He Did on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Eagles began their quest for back-to-back Super Bowl championships on Thursday when they took on the Cincinnati Bengals in their first preseason game of 2025. They outscored the Bengals 17-0 in the second quarter and scored 20 straight points spanning the second and third quarters, allowing them to come up with a 34-27 victory. While Cincinnati played a few starters, including quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni elected not to do the same. But Eagles fans got a glimpse of QB1 Jalen Hurts at practice on Sunday, and he ended up doing something kind and attentive for his team's fans. Jalen Hurts Stuck Around After Practice and Spent Time With Fans In a heartwarming moment, Hurts was seen taking time following practice, signing autographs for fans who were present. Users on X applauded Hurts for being so connected with Eagles supporters and taking time out of his schedule to make them happy. "He's a good guy," wrote one user. "That's really cool," wrote another user. "If you hate on this man you must hate your life," a third fan wrote. "I was on the other side of the field like a dummy lol," another fan wrote, mourning the missed opportunity. "I wish I were there," a fifth user wrote. "This is the jersey I need," another fan wrote. Like many NFL players and other pro athletes, Hurts has a history of doing good work in the community to help others. He is an advocate for women's sports, and in fact, every member of his management team is female. According to a 2021 ESPN article, he participated in the NFL's "My Cause, My Cleats" initiative to advocate for more women to get involved in sports. He did so by wearing cleats for a game versus the New York Jets that brought attention to tennis legend Billie Jean King's Women's Sports Foundation, which she founded in 1974 "to advance the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity." Can the Eagles Fly Above the Rest of the NFL Again This Season? Right now, many are predicting Philly to come out of the NFC and play in the Super Bowl once again. However, the team isn't the favorite to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. They have largely the same core on offense, along with the former Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon backing up reigning Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley. But there have been some changes on defense. Pass rushers Josh Sweat and Bryce Huff, cornerback Darius Slay and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson left during the offseason. That means that youngsters such as Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean will need to step things up. All three did well last year, and they will need to continue with that type of trajectory in order to bring another world championship to the City of Brotherly story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 11, 2025, where it first appeared.
