Protesting HAU students say will close all 4 varsity gates today

Hisar: Students of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) announced on Tuesday that as per their pre-decided strategy, all four university gates will remain closed on Wednesday.
Talks between the administration and the students' committee are still underway.
Addressing mediapersons at the protest site, the students clarified that Gate No. 2 will remain open for emergencies and pedestrian movement. The gates will be shut from 11 am to 3 pm as part of the protest.
The students reiterated that they have eight demands, and any decision regarding these will be taken by the committee formed by them.
Reacting to the university's director of research defending the vice chancellor in various matters, the students dismissed his statements as baseless, claiming that nothing happens in the university without the vice chancellor's approval. They further rejected allegations that students were consuming alcohol, calling such claims unfounded and inappropriate.
"We also have videos, but we don't wish to stoop to such levels," a student leader said.
The students questioned chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and education minister Mahipal Dhanda's claims that all demands were accepted. "If that is true, why is there a delay in giving a written confirmation?" they asked. Responding to the university administration's claim that it had no information about any agreement with the govt, the students said, "The administration is asleep — if there was no agreement, on what basis was the Director of Student Welfare removed immediately afterward?" They insisted that they would negotiate only with the govt, saying they do not trust the university administration.
Referring to the administration's claim that the hostel closure order was issued on June 2, the students countered that prior consent is always taken from students before such decisions, which was not done this time. "If the library has never been closed before, why has it been shut now?" they questioned.

The university administration issued a statement on Tuesday, expressing concern that the students' call to close all campus gates on July 2 would cause significant inconvenience to the general public. There is a campus school and a govt high school within the university premises, where thousands of students study daily. The closure, the administration said, would disrupt their access and affect university officers and employees who travel from the city and nearby villages.
"Shutting the gates violates the fundamental rights of farmers, employees, residents, and the wider community," the statement read.

Moral education essential for developed India: Nayab Saini
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Chandigarh, Jul 30 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini Wednesday said moral education for children is a must to make India a developed nation. He said that students from classes 10 to 12 in the state have been distributed five lakh tablets, nearly 40,000 classrooms have been equipped with digital boards, and 1,201 IT labs have been set up. Saini was addressing the Smart Class Expansion Programme, organised by the Sampark Foundation and the Education Department in Ladwa, Kurukshetra district. Earlier, Saini launched a Smart TV Education Project from Ladwa. The Sampark Foundation has provided Sampark TV Boxes in 7,000 state schools, he said. The package includes digital versions of Haryana board textbooks, videos, worksheets, and assessment modules. A total of 1,485 schools have been equipped with LED TVs, the chief minister said. As many as 132 schools of Ladwa and Babain blocks have been developed as 'smart classes' with such TVs, he said. Saini said that education is not just confined to bookish knowledge but is a powerful medium that shapes the future of individuals, society, and the nation. He said Atal Tinkering Labs have been set up in all 22 districts of the state, and more than 5,000 schools have been provided with Wi-Fi connectivity. Sampark Foundation founder Vineet Nayar said his foundation aims to create curiosity for learning among children and focus on the application of knowledge. At another event in Ladwa, Saini said the government has set a target to install solar panels on one lakh houses this year. He said a team of officers will visit every village for the project under the Pradhan Mantri Muft Bijli Yojana. Families with an annual income below Rs 1.80 lakh will be provided with a 2 kW solar panel under the scheme. Out of the total cost, Rs 70,000 will be borne by the central government and the remaining by the state government, he said. Haryana chief minister announces 100 sq yd plot for 1 lakh poor families
Kurukshetra, Jul 30 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday said that one lakh families categorized under 'Antyodaya', who do not possess land, will soon be allotted a 100 square yard plot each. 'Following this milestone, the next phase will commence with the selection of an additional 1 lakh beneficiaries," he said. The chief minister was speaking at a programme in some villages of Ladwa constituency, an official statement said. The chief minister had earlier said that the state government will provide plots to the underprivileged families, fulfilling its commitment to ensure 'a roof over every head". Saini has in the past targeted the previous Congress government, alleging they only made hollow promises of giving 100-square yard plots to the poor. They neither handed over possession nor provided registry papers, Saini had said. Meanwhile, the chief minister said starting from August 15, government hospitals in 10 districts that have been upgraded with modern facilities and equipment on the lines of private hospitals will begin offering treatment for all types of diseases. This initiative aims to provide the people of the state with high-quality healthcare services at affordable rates, he said. During the visit, the chief minister listened to public grievances and directed officials on the spot to address them promptly. He announced Rs 55.41 lakh for a clean drinking water pipeline in village Dagali, Rs 52.64 lakh for village Beed Kalwa, and Rs 27.15 lakh for village Dhanani. At Deeg, he laid the foundation stone for a primary health centre to be constructed at a cost of over Rs 6.38 crore. Additionally, the chief minister announced Rs 21 lakh for development works in each of the four villages and assured that all demand letters submitted by the respective sarpanches would be forwarded to the concerned departments for necessary action. Saini said that farmers in Kurukshetra district cultivate sunflowers on a large scale. Keeping this in view, the government has decided to establish a sunflower oil mill in Shahbad. Additionally, land has been identified in Rewari for setting up a mustard oil mill, he said. These two mills will help ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their sunflower and mustard crops, he said. He further said that Haryana is the first state in the country where all crops are being procured at Minimum Support Price (MSP). 'Moreover, under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, farmers are compensated when they receive lower market prices for vegetables and other crops," he said. The chief minister said that families with an annual income of less than Rs 1.80 lakh are being provided cooking gas cylinders at a subsidised rate of Rs 500 per cylinder. Around 18 lakh families across the state are currently benefiting from this scheme, he said. Similarly, under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh is being provided to eligible citizens. For senior citizens above 70 years of age, the treatment coverage has been extended up to Rs 10 lakh. The state government has released Rs 6 crore for this scheme. He further added that kidney patients are now receiving free dialysis services in government hospitals.
