Two locals held for drugs in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Two local men were detained separately during Op Tapis at Kampung Puyut, here, on Saturday for possessing drugs. District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail, said the first suspect, a 32-year-old man working as a laborer was arrested after police found 0.54 grams of Syabu in his possession.
Advertisement The suspect also tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine. The suspect also had four previous criminal records related to drugs, he said. Police also detained a 47-year-old unemployed man for possessing 0.25 grams of Syabu, and had two previous criminal records related to drugs. 'Both of the suspects are being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
Advertisement 'The first case will also be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,' he said. Sabah MACC nabs duo over RM3.6 million false claims

Investigations found the claims, made in 2022 and 2023 to the Department of Industrial Development and Research, involved the supply of a retort machine and equipment worth over RM400,000, and certification services including MeSTI, My Food, and Halal certificates worth over RM3.2 million. Advertisement Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrests, saying the case is being investigated under Sections 18 and 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009. Elderly man killed in motorcycle–lorry collision in Kota Belud

District police chief Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said initial investigations found the lorry, driven by a 60-year-old man, was turning right when it sideswiped the victim's motorcycle.
