On today's
Beyond The Gates
recap:
Uptown: Kat arrives in a stunning red dress to meet up with Tomas for salsa dancing lessons. He says the instructor is supposed to be the best. Santi arrives ready to teach them the ropes (Kat already has more chemistry with Santi than Tomas).
Kat and Tomas begin the most awkward dance in the history of the planet. Santi stops the music and asks where the passion and the fire is. He begins the music again but they simply can't get in sync. Tomas tells her to trust his lead but she says it doesn't make sense. Santi takes Tomas' place and says to let him show her what it's like when a real man leads (Oooooh!).
Tomas cuts in and they get quite a bit better in terms of their rhythm, which thrills Santi. Afterwards, Tomas tells Kat information about his childhood in Puerto Rico which brings them even closer. They begin to dance again without music and then kiss. Later, they decide to head home for a shower and some alone time.
Orphey Gene's: Naomi can't believe Samantha and Tyrell are June's children. She thinks they have to run it by Smitty and Martin first since it was a closed adoption. Naomi knows this news could destroy their family.
Smitty and Martin's Place: Game night continues with Martin and Tyrell winning. The kids ask to play on and this time with charades. Smitty shuts it down saying it's time to do chores. Samantha and Tyrell head out to the kitchen to give their parents a chance to talk. Smitty says he knows exactly what Martin is doing and needs to stop. Martin gets a call from Naomi who says she needs to see them ASAP.
Naomi and Jacob arrive and she says they found Tyrell and Samantha's biological mother. Martin doesn't understand why Naomi was looking for this person but she says June found her. Martin still doesn't understand as they spent all kinds of cast for a closed adoption so no family member would come knocking. He asks about her story and Naomi reminds him about the homeless woman she asked him to help and says that's her.
Smitty says he was doing an assignment on the foster care system when he met Samantha and Tyrell. He knew their mother's addiction had taken away their entire life. They only had each other. Smitty says he was looking for a story and found the missing pieces to their family (and rubs Martin's leg in the process).
Naomi asks if Martin and Smitty would ever consider letting June meet the kids. Smitty immediately says no because they don't know her. Martin steps in and says their family is very fragile but isn't opposed to the idea. Smitty concurs and says they will think on it. Naomi apologizes to Martin but he thanks her for providing the information. With that, they exit. Just then, Samantha and Tyrell enter and clearly know their biological mother was located.
Smitty says they are all blindsided by this information. Tyrell wants to have nothing to do with the mother who abandoned them. Martin jumps in and says they are allowed to make their own decisions. Smitty says whatever they decide, they will support them and are still their parents. Tyrell asks if he and Samantha can talk alone and Smitty and Martin give them the room.
Fairmont Country Club: Chelsea is taking selfies when Madison arrives on the scene. They agree they don't want to drift apart and will work on fixing what ails their relationship.
Chelsea goes through the newest launch and Madison is thrilled it's a hospital bag designed just for her. Just then, Allison arrives. Chelsea wonders how she got past the gate and Allison says Diego got her a guest pass. Chelsea grabs her phone to get her pass revoked. Allison stops her saying she has an opportunity for an advertising deal. Chelsea isn't interested and tells her to get gone (Oh Lord, Chelsea is gonna end up in a bird cage).
Madison heads off to take a work call. Allison can't understand how Chelsea can be so cruel when Craig is treating her the same. Chelsea tells her to go to therapy and get out but thinks Allison actually wants attention rather than advise. Just then, Chelsea gets a call from Kat and tells Allison to be gone afterwards. She was thinking about having Tomas over and wanted to know if she was going to be home. Kat tells her a bit about the salsa lesson and thinks maybe they were both trying too hard before. With that, they hang up.
Chelsea apologizes to Madison for Allison hijacking their evening, when she shows up again. Allison looks at Madison and says Chelsea is a 'selfish two-faced bitch' who she should dump before she gets ditched herself. Chelsea tells her to back down before she has to get a restraining order. Allison repeats her desire to be with Chelsea and says she'll find out how much they're meant to be together all too soon (IN. A. BIRDCAGE!).
Leslie's Digs: The inheritance folks want her personal information and Leslie tells them off. She is furious with Eva for making her go through the exercise. Eva goes off on her mother for giving up before the conversation even got started. Leslie says she's been around too many times to fall for somebody's con. Eva leans in and tells her mother, NO!
Leslie asks what this inheritance crusade is really about. Eva says she would give her mother whatever she needed. They go back and forth about Ted and Eva goes into how much she wondered about him as a child. She now has a chance to be her father's daughter and not just his mistake. Leslie understands but Eva thinks her drama is threatening to destroy their connection. Before Leslie can go off on her daughter, her phone rings from an unknown caller. She ignores the call because she wants to know why her daughter is choosing Ted over her own mother and wonders if all this is about Nicole.
Eva makes the mistake of saying she loves Nicole and feels badly about the dissolution of her family. Just then, the phone rings again. Leslie says since her daughter is so good at solving problems, she'll give these folks her number.
Previous Beyond The Gates Recap:
Endings
Samantha thinks they deserve answers but Tyrell isn't interested in a woman who simply abandoned him (Tyrell being older makes way more sense in terms of how they are responding to their dad's separation). Tyrell can't understand how there has been years of no communication. He shows a picture of their current family and reminds her these are their people. Samantha only thinks of her mother as someone who was going through it. Tyrell counters that their mother left them. Samantha thinks they have June to thank for their lives right now and can't imagine he doesn't want to know the whole story.
Chelsea apologizes for Hurricane Allison but Madison is turned on by the way her girlfriend stood up! Chelsea loves being with Madison and having something real, as Allison watches.
Kat and Tomas are home and fresh from a shower. He begins to massage and kiss her and wonders where he learned his moves. They make out and the towels drop. Afterwards, Tomas, once again, thinks things were amazing whilst Kat is clearly less than engaged. He asks for round two and is surprised when she isn't down.
Martin tells Smitty their kids are on the porch having a conversation. He worries their kids will forget about them if they meet their biological mother. Smitty tells him to stop saying Samantha and Tyrell are their children. Martin isn't certain their kids have the same connection with him as they do with Smitty. Just then, Samantha and Tyrell walk in and say they've agreed to met June.

Mila Kunis Says Her Preparation to Play a Ballerina in 'Black Swan' Involved 'Very Little Eating': 'It's the Truth'

"I drank a lot of broth and danced for 12 hours a day," the actress told 'Vogue' NEED TO KNOW Mila Kunis is recounting her intense preparation for her role as a professional ballerina in Black Swan In an interview with Vogue to mark the movie's 15th anniversary, the actress shared that she did "very little eating" during that time "I drank a lot of broth and danced for 12 hours a day," she told the outlet Mila Kunis is opening up about her grueling preparation for her role in Black Swan. Speaking with Vogue in a new interview to mark the 2010 film's 15th anniversary, the actress — who was joined by costar Natalie Portman and director Darren Aronofsky — shared how she transformed herself to portray a professional ballerina on-screen. "My prep was a lot of dancing and very little eating — which I know you're not supposed to say, but it's the truth. I drank a lot of broth and danced for 12 hours a day," she told the outlet. "We were only supposed to have three months of prep before filming started, but we lost some financing, so that got extended to six months while Darren tried to find money," Kunis, 42, continued. "It sucked for Darren, but Nat and I were so happy because we had three extra months to dance." The Luckiest Girl Alive star also recalled how she sustained painful injuries while filming the movie's many dancing scenes. "We would shoot those dancing scenes for hours, and I had bruises all over my ribs just from being lifted over and over again," she told Vogue. "I also dislocated my shoulder pretty early in the production and thought I was completely screwed, but Darren sent me to an acupuncturist and I somehow came out totally fine." During the interview, Portman, 44, shared the surprising story of how Kunis came to be cast in the role of Lily, the seductive rival of Portman's character, Nina. "We had been friends for years, and I remember being at the Rose Bowl Flea Market with her, talking about this ballet movie I was making with Darren. Mila said, 'I remember when I would take off my pointe shoes…' and I was like, 'Wait, you did ballet?' I immediately called Darren and said there was this amazing actress with ballet experience who would be perfect for Lily," she recalled to Vogue. The only problem? Portman had oversold Kunis' experience on pointe. "I think I said, 'I danced once,' and that got twisted into me having taken pointe," Kunis said, prompting Portman to reply, "I may have exaggerated on your behalf!" The film, which had a modest budget of $13 million, went on to pull in nearly $330 million worldwide at the box office. Portman won the Best Actress Oscar for her mesmerizing performance. Fans can catch the movie on the big screen once again for a limited time this month. On Aug. 21 and Aug. 24, a newly remastered version of Black Swan will be shown on IMAX screens across the country. Reflecting on the movie's 15th anniversary, Portman told Vogue that seeing the final movie for the first time all those years ago was an "exhilarating" experience. "I didn't quite understand the tone of the movie while we were shooting, and was pretty surprised by what it ended up being. That first time watching it was shocking and exhilarating in a really wonderful way. I had no comprehension of the scope of Darren's vision while we made it," she said. "The success was incredible." Anita says she has to stand by her decision and be with her family. Vernon says he needs to head out and Tracy thanks him for his hospitality. Ted says he has groveled for the past few months and it's gotten him nowhere. He doesn't know what to do short of getting a time machine and changing the past. Andre wonders if he's there to watch Ted wallow in self-pity. Garland Memorial Hospital – Lobby: Ashley and Shanice discuss how slow the evening. Shanice mentions Andre and his girlfriend Dani and wonders what she's been doing to keep herself busy. She says she has decided to work on herself. Just then, an emergency patient comes in from a biking accident, Derek. Shanice calms Ashley and tells her to remember her training. She is close to Derek and needs to let the paramedics and doctors do their jobs. Shanice tells her to depersonalize and call Dr Montgomery for a neuro consult. Ashley goes to Derek's friend and asks what happened. He says Derek didn't effectively train and didn't know the course because he started training too late. He says it felt like Derek had nothing to lose. Garland Memorial Hospital – Derek's Room: Dr Montgomery tells Shanice to follow concussion protocols since he had one a few months back. Ashley walks in and says she needs to be there. Just then, Derek awakens and Ashley tells him where he is. Dr Montgomery asks him about the pain and he says his back hurts like hell, and he can't feel his legs. Dr Montgomery tells Derek he has an injury to his L2 vertebrae which Derek understands means he injured his spine. She tells Shanice to call for an MRI, find out the neurosurgeon on call and book an OR. Derek is freaked out but Dr Montgomery says they need to get in there to see what's going on.
