Loose Women star GK Barry breaks her silence on brutal ITV cuts as she praises the show for giving women a voice

Daily Mail2 days ago
Loose Women star GK Barry has broken her silence on the upcoming ITV cuts and has revealed whether viewers can expect to still see her on their screens.
It was revealed back in May that the show has been axed for half of the year and Lorraine's runtime has been slashed by 30 minutes, as Daytime bosses announced cuts with job losses in excess of 220.
According to insiders, once ITV's budget cuts come into effect in January, Loose Women will no longer have A-list guests in the studio, and the broadcast is planned to only consist of the panel debating newsworthy topics from the week.
Now, in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail, GK Barry, real name Grace Keeling, has revealed she has no plans to leave the show.
The 25-year-old explained: 'I think so, I think I'm still on. I'm pretty sure I'm still there. Obviously the cuts are such a shame, but I'm very glad that Loose Women is still able to be on because I think it's so important to have a women-led show on.'
Grace is the youngest ever panellist to appear on Loose Women and was born in the year the ITV daytime show started.
Reflecting on her time on the show since joining in 2024, Grace added: 'I'm not gonna lie, I was terrified on my first episode.
'I was like, "None of these women know me, are they gonna think I'm weird," but hand on heart, they are the loveliest women I have ever met in my life. They are so welcoming, and it's just such a fun show.
'I think it's important to have a show on the telly that is all women-based, and it's one of the few that is. The audience are amazing. They always give it large, and you get to speak your mind and no one judges you for it, which is nice.'
'People believe it's just women arguing, but every time I've had a differing opinion on the panel, they're just like, 'that's cool,' no one's had a problem with it.'
The influencer has seen her career skyrocket since jetting off to Australia last November for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Grace finished in fifth place and was evicted on day 20 of the competition, while McFly's Danny Jones went on to win the ITV show.
The presenter has now revealed her latest venture away from her TV commitments.
The host of the Saving Grace podcast has collaborated with Echo Wines to create a Limited Edition Summer Berries bottle.
Chatting about her partnership with Echo Falls, Grace explained: 'It is so iconic. It was my go-to drink at uni before going out, and I thought I know my audience are going to love this.'
Elsewhere, Grace is once again taking her popular podcast Saving Grace to venues across the UK as part of a Jungle Fever Tour special.
The show promises a 'night of feral fun' with gossip, special surprises, and celebrity guests.
Grace has also been focusing on charity work nd recently visited C9 the Teenage Cancer Trust ward at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
She was joined by girlfriend and professional footballer Ella Rutherford to meet cancer staff and bring joy to young people on the unit.
Grace went viral after she shared a video showing off what she really looked like behind the glamour of carefully edited Instagram - and it sparked a trend of other influencers doing the same.
The video racked up almost 94,000 likes, and social media users from around the world then began replicating the video and using her voiceover to expose how they actually look when posting online.
She soon gained a huge following and within a year, had amassed a whopping one million followers on the video-sharing platform.
At present, she now has a huge 4.1million followers on TikTok and an impressive 1.8million fans on Instagram.
Cambridge-born Grace went on to create her own podcast, Saving Grace, in April 2022 and has interviewed numerous celebrities including Coleen Nolan, Olivia Bowen and Alan Carr.
In early 2024, GK took the podcast, which is also uploaded as a vodcast on YouTube, on a sold-out tour around the country.

MasterChef's John Torode's 'one chance' to win back fans as TV future 'hangs in balance'

MasterChef's John Torode's 'one chance' to win back fans as TV future 'hangs in balance' EXCLUSIVE: John Torode and Gregg Wallace will not be recording anymore episodes of BBC show MasterChef after the current series concludes, following the result of an inquiry John Torode said he has 'no recollection' of using the alleged racist term John Torode's next move "could very well make or break his TV career", following his sacking from MasterChef, according to a PR specialist. Last month, it was announced that the chef will not have his contract renewed with the BBC show, due to an upheld racism allegation. ‌ In a statement, John, 60, said he has "no recollection" of the alleged racist term he is accused of using, and said he only found out he'd been pulled from the show through media reports. ‌ John's co-star Gregg Wallace will also not be returning to the show after several misconduct claims were upheld in the same investigation, commissioned by MasterChef's producer Banijay UK, and conducted by law firm Lewis Silkin. ‌ While John may not be back for another series of MasterChef, he is still thought to be employed by ITV. For now, he will continue to front John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen, alongside his wife Lisa Faulkner. The broadcaster also reportedly plans to welcome back the duo in December 2025 for Christmas specials of the show. Gregg Wallace and John Torode are back for a new series of MasterChef (Image: BBC) ‌ Despite this, Kayley Cornelius says John's career on screen is looking "temperamental". Should no more allegations about him surface, the PR expert believes he could perhaps "win back public support" and continue his on-screen career, with ITV's backing. "Although ITV appear to be offering him a lifeline for now by continuing their support, I suspect that could change at the drop of a hat if it turns out this wasn't an isolated incident and more reports of similar language come to light," she added, speaking on behalf of Betfred. ‌ "It goes without saying that John's next steps will be crucial and could very well make or break his TV career." She continued: "Should he take accountability for his actions, apologise to those he's upset or disappointed, and demonstrate clear growth since the time of the incident, I do believe, based on current online sentiment, that he has a chance to win back some public support. However, he will need to accept that for some, there may be no regaining their trust at all." John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen will continue to air on ITV (Image: ITV) ‌ Kayleigh continued: "While he may have short-term security thanks to ITV, in the long term, his success and TV career will hinge on public support. "Audience numbers are crucial to the future of any television programme and the funding it receives, so if he fails to win back viewers, the show could face cancellation further down the line." The PR specialist added that if ITV were to distance themselves from John, this could result in him being "pushed out of the industry altogether". Article continues below She also notes that with broadcasting becoming increasingly competitive and presenting talent continuing to grow, producers are likely not to hesitate with replacing him. The new series of MasterChef returned to the BBC on Wednesday, with both Gregg and John at the helm. The episodes were filmed before the hosts were sacked, but according to The Independent, Gregg will be replaced by Irish chef Anna Haugh in the final episodes. MasterChef returns to BBC Two tonight at 8pm.

‘Fixated' man who stalked Anna Friel for three years bailed ahead of sentencing

A man who was 'fixated' with actress Anna Friel and stalked her for nearly three years has been ordered by a judge not to contact her ahead of his sentencing next month. Phil Appleton, 71, sent numerous messages, visited the actress's home address on several occasions and left 'unwanted' gifts between January 1 2022 and December 11 2024, Reading Crown Court previously heard. Appleton, of Windsor in Berkshire, pleaded guilty to a stalking offence under Section 2A of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 earlier this week. He was due to be sentenced on Thursday but judge Alan Blake adjourned the hearing until September 18 for a pre-sentence report to be carried out. The court heard that a psychiatrist had diagnosed Appleton with bipolar disorder and erotomania, where a person believes that someone else is in love with them. The psychiatrist said that Appleton had a 'fixation' with Friel and was trying to determine whether this was still the case, the court heard. The defendant, who the court heard has been in custody for six months and has spent time in a mental health facility, was granted conditional bail. Appleton must not contact Friel or enter the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, and is to co-operate with those conducting the pre-sentence report. A website under his name appears to suggest that he is an actor and retired pilot. Friel, 49, rose to fame with her role as Beth Jordache in Channel 4 soap opera Brookside. She achieved international renown in 2007 starring as Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles in ABC comedy series Pushing Daisies. In 2017, she won the International Emmy for Best Actress for her role as the title character in the ITV and Netflix mystery drama series Marcella.
