Thomas Partey makes Villarreal debut off bench in victory over Real Oviedo
Partey, 32, who was granted conditional bail at Westminster Magistrates' Court last week after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, stepped off the bench in the 82nd minute.
The Ghana international, who has denied all the charges against him, left Arsenal after his contract expired in June and joined Villarreal on August 7.
Newly-promoted Oviedo were reduced to 10 men in the 27th minute when Alberto Reina received his second yellow card.
Etta Eyong headed Villarreal into the lead two minutes later and Pape Gueye struck their second before half-time.
The curtain was lifted on the new LaLiga season in an earlier kick-off at Estadio Montilivi, where visitors Rayo Vallecano beat 10-man Girona 3-1.
Two goals in as many minutes from Jorge de Frutos and Alvaro Garcia put Rayo 2-0 up midway through the first half before Girona's Paulo Gazzaniga was sent off.
The Argentinian goalkeeper was shown a straight red card in the 43rd minute after bringing down De Frutos in the area and Isi Palazon converted the resulting penalty. Joel Roca pulled one back for Girona in the second half but it was too little, too late.

Bojan Miovski sees Girona transfer escape route open up as Aberdeen hero's rotten luck continues
The former Dons goal machine hasn't had the best time of it since his departure last year Girona forward Bojan Miovski is a target for fellow La Liga side Valencia - according to a report. The North Macedonia star only arrived in Spain in a £6.8million deal from Aberdeen 12 months ago but endured a tough debut campaign, netting just four times in 22 matches in all competitions. Miovski was previously a target for Celtic and has also been tentatively linked to city rivals Rangers as well as Bundesliga duo Freiburg and Hamburg. The Pittodrie hero started in Girona's league opener against Rayo Vallecano on Friday night but was hooked at half time with his team already 2-0 down after goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga saw red. And now Spanish outlet Fichahes claim that he is a loan target for Carlos Corberan's Valencia. They add that the six-time La Liga winners' are working on a loan deal for the 26-year-old even though Girona would be open to selling the player permanently. Valencia have struggled to balance the books in recent seasons but see a loan move for Miovski as a cheaper alternative to the finances involved in deals for other forward targets Cyle Larin and Rangers' flop Umar Sadiq. Earlier this week, Girona boss Michel had confirmed that the Catalan club are looking to bring in another attacker, casting more doubts on Miovski's long-term future at the Estadi Montilivi. He said: "We need a left-back, a central midfielder, a winger, and a striker. "It seems like Miguel Gutiérrez will leave, although it's not a done deal yet. If he leaves, we'll need another left-back." Back in July, Miovski left the door open to a potential departure by admitting that a decision on his future could be taken out of his hands. The former MTK Budapest frontman also hasn't ruled out making a sensational return to Pittodrie further down the line. In an interview with he said: "My career will probably last for another 10 years, and I cannot predict the future, but I do not rule out the possibility of wearing Aberdeen's shirt again one day. "I was really appreciated within the club, and I love the club as well. I felt really good there, and if I return there one day, winning a trophy would be at the top of my list. 'My primary goal is to score as many goals as possible next season and help my team achieve its targets. I signed a long-term deal last year, but I cannot predict what will happen over the summer. "Although the club considers me a project to develop and I have three years left on my contract, everything is open, and whether I will leave or stay depends on the club."
