According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is working on a treatment for a new "Deadpool" movie that is expected to involve at least three members of the X-Men team.
"Reynolds is exploring ideas for a Deadpool movie that would feature X-Men characters, as well as continuing to script the Paramount comedy Boy Band after making writing a priority for much of this year before tackling other obligations, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter."
The report from The Hollywood Reporter also goes into detail about the project, which has yet to be pitched to any studio. Considering that "Deadpool & Wolverine" made $1.338 billion at the box office and R-rated movies have made the most money out of any R-rated movie ever released, it is believed that studios will be battling it out for this potential sequel.
Deadpool and Wolverine is a festival of meta Marvel. Beyond the headline acts it also includes Wesley Snipes as Blade, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.

Reynolds did make mention that the Deadpool character would not be in another solo movie, and that is being proven true with the new project once again focusing on a potential ensemble cast instead of just featuring The Merc With a Mouth by himself.
The Hollywood Reporter also indicated that this film will not interfere with or be connected to the X-Men movie being made for Marvel Studios.
The X-Men have yet to make their grand Marvel appearance, other than in the MCU, including mutations. Namor from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" and Kamala Khan from "Ms. Marvel" are the first two confirmed and new mutants.
Wolverine and Professor Xavier have been introduced and are from the FOX era, but both might only be involved in minor ways moving forward.
Professor Xavier has been confirmed for the "Avengers: Doomsday" film, but he may not be an integral mutant in the grand MCU plan.
Marvel fans have been begging for the X-Men to fully appear in the MCU, especially the main characters like Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey, Storm, and more.
Reynolds might be once again playing with some X-Men characters in this proposed film, but they might also not be the ones highlighted in the upcoming MCU film. Either way, this is exciting news for the future of the "Deadpool" franchise.

'I had a meeting with him and I don't actually know if he knew the depths of my Jurassic fandom, but I'm hoping that no one explained it to him too thoroughly because it maybe would've come off as being a little too much,' ScarJo explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month, referring to Steve Spielberg. 'Although knowing Steven now, he was excited when I shared with how much it would mean to me to play any part in Jurassic,' she added. Trump's Trade War Plot Twist May Be a Hollywood That Looks for Even More Co-Productions
Donald Trump talked about slapping a 100 percent tariff on all foreign movies to make a 'troubled' Hollywood great again. But judging by the conversations at the Banff World Media Festival — both among content creators and acquisition execs and during panel and keynote speeches — global collaboration to create new partnerships and content across borders and tackle mutual financial challenges is the byword this week in the Canadian Rockies. Advertisement More from The Hollywood Reporter 'Collaboration is the one word that keeps coming up. I've never seen people all over the world — buyers, producers – more open to finding ways to get projects made and over the line,' Allison Wallach, head of unscripted programming at Fox Entertainment Studios, told a Banff fest panel on unscripted content. The discussion on the evolution of unscripted fare took place against the backdrop of Trump's talk of a foreign movie tariff quickly pivoting to a discussion of Americans possibly taking part in official international co-productions for the first time. And that plays directly into the wheelhouse of Canadian and other international producers that have been doing multi-passport films and TV series for decades. 'Deals I never thought I'd get away making, all of a sudden 50 percent of something is better than 100 percent of nothing,' Wallach added about recent dealmaking. Advertisement Sharon Scott, president, A+E Factual Studios, added during the unscripted content panel that global collaboration has moved from the sidelines to front and center for recent dealmaking. 'I love a coproduction. I didn't used to, but they definitely help on the financial side, and you make new friends and partners,' she said. Scott also touted the benefits of tapping film tax credits, including in Canada. 'Anything that can be done anywhere, should be done here,' she said of shooting content in Canada, whether TV shows or just expert interviews for an unscripted series. The result in Banff for an entertainment industry looking to cut content budgets and produce for and with the world was more deliberative conversations between potential partners. 'Everything is a conversation now. That's a really good thing. We just want to get the best content for our customers and we want to work with fantastic partners from all around the world to do that,' Anais Baker, head of international formats at Amazon MGM Studios, told the unscripted TV panel. Advertisement Michaela Di Mondo, executive vp of distribution, international at Fremantle Canada, at one point directly addressed producers in Banff and urged them to take advantage of American and other international producers looking to forge new partnerships. 'For you guys in the room, producers, this is your time. Here's an opportunity where the world is kind of saying, where else can we work? Where else can we do hub structures. Where else can we do co-productions? How can we cost save where it doesn't mean 'that's too Canadian,' versus look how amazing that was, and the cost was even better,' Di Mondo said. FANTASTIC FOUR Writer Reflects on Scrapped Galactus Plans for 2015 Film; "Internal Push Back" Stopped It — GeekTyrant
It turns out the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot almost gave us the Galactus fans actually wanted to see. Jeremy Slater, co-writer of that infamous reboot, recently opened up about his experience trying to bring a proper version of the cosmic devourer to the screen—and how those plans got shut down. When asked about the upcoming film The Fantstic Four: First Steps , he told CB: 'I'm excited. I like the fact that they are taking a big creative swing. They are telling a multiverse story, with a different world and a different set of heroes. 'It looks like they are bringing them in collision with our Marvel Cinematic Universe. I think that is a smart angle. I think they are getting Galactus right.' But getting Galactus 'right' wasn't so easy back in 2015. Slater explained just how hard he tried to make the classic, Jack Kirby-designed villain the centerpiece of their movie, and how it slipped away. 'I wanted to make him our big bad and there was some internal push back. First, he was our big bad. Then, he was just going to appear in one scene. Then, he was only appearing in the post-credits scene. 'Coming off the Galactus cloud from [2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer], which I was one of those fanboys probably bitching on Ain't It Cool News back then about how he was a f*cking cloud, I was excited to bring back a classic Galactus and have that Jack Kirby design. It looked like they've accomplished that, so I can't wait to see him in real life.' If you lived through that era… you know the pain of that stupid idea. Thankfully, The Fantastic Four: First Steps seems to be correcting course. A promotional Snapple tie-in gave us our first peek at this new Galactus, and he's looking very faithful to the comics. Producer Grant Curtis described him, saying: 'The most epic of the most epic that you can imagine because that's the global stakes we're dealing with, the universal stakes we're dealing with. "That's Galactus. When Galactus's gaze comes across your planet, you're not in a good spot. I think that's as big of a scope and scale you could ever ask a villain to bring with him or her. 'And that is what Galactus brings... One of the beautiful things about working with Kevin Feige and with [director] Matt Shakman, they are totally in on sci-fi.' Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 25.
