"Death Stranding" Live-Action Movie Finds Its Director

Yara Sameh
Even as he is deep in post-production on his next movie, "Death of Robin Hood" at A24 starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, Michael Sarnoski and the studio are already setting their next project.
Sarnoski has been tapped to write and direct the live-action adaptation of Hideo Kojima's genre-defying video game "Death Stranding", with A24 and Kojima Productions producing. Lars Knudsen and Ari Aster's Square Peg will also join as producer.
The adaptation will delve into the game's mysteries surrounding the 'Death Stranding' — a catastrophic series of events that blurred the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead, bringing forth nightmarish creatures into a fragmented world on the brink of collapse.
"Death Stranding" captured the imaginations of millions of gamers, played by more than 19 million worldwide.
Originally launched in November 2019 for PlayStation 4, it boasts an all-star cast, including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro and Margaret Qualley.
Players plays the role of Sam Porter Bridges, a character tasked with reuniting a divided America, rebuilding hope, and re-establishing connections among the last remnants of humanity.
The news follows on the heels of a number of Kojima Productions announcements at SXSW including a launch date for "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" (June 26), debuting a new trailer, confirming a worldwide concert tour based on the franchise, and a collaboration with luxury watchmaker Hamilton.
The game sees the return of Reedus, Seydoux, Nicolas Winding Refn and Troy Baker, who will be joined by Luca Marinelli, George Miller, and Elle Fanning.
The project gives Sarnoski another high-profile IP to add to his resume after his critically acclaimed 2021 breakout pic Pig". The movie starred Nicolas Cage and put Sarnoski on the map as a rising star in the director ranks.
The pic landed him the high-profile "A Quiet Place" spinoff, "A Quiet Place: Day One", which bowed this past summer, grossing more than $250 million worldwide.
Sarnoski most recently directed "Death of Robin Hood" at A24 starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.

Reports: BTS Involved in Secret Michael Jackson Music Project Featuring Unreleased Track

Rana Atef On Sunday, a new report by the Irish Sun claimed that trending K-pop group BTS took part in a secret music project involving a previously unreleased Michael Jackson track recorded in 2006. The song was initially intended for a new album by the late King of Pop, but the project was halted before completion. It was recorded at Grouse Lodge Studio, a converted stable in the Irish countryside, where Jackson had several recording sessions during his stay, alongside notable names like producer Rodney Jerkins and singer Ne-Yo. Studio owner Paddy Dunning recently stated that the tracks were part of a tribute album concept. For the first time, he revealed that BTS was among the 'global stars' invited to re-record some of the songs. 'We began the sessions last year,' Dunning said. 'We hosted BTS here at Grouse Lodge, where they recorded one of the tracks.' The project reportedly included around ten tracks linked to Michael Jackson, either written or developed in collaboration with his Irish-based team at the time. He confirmed that preparations are ongoing, with support from members of Jackson's original creative team. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
