Air ambulance called after child hit by car on busy road

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Tameside after a child was hit by a car. Police and paramedics were called to Droylsden Road, Audenshaw, following reports of the incident this afternoon (July 31).
An air ambulance was seen landing close to the scene. Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was called out to a collision involving a car and a child.
The child was taken to hospital. No arrests have been made so far, GMP says.

Part of the A662 Droylsden Road was closed off while emergency services responded to the incident, according to Google data.
Queues built up on surrounding roads, near to the Snipe retail park. Further details about the nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed.

The footage, which has been reposted extensively with traditional Jewish music in the background, shows two men sat in a vehicle, spraying visibly Orthodox Jewish children with water pistols. Police said they were investigating the videos yesterday (August 6). The men, aged 26 and 36, were arrested in Farnworth on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault today (August 7). As part of the investigation, officers from Greater Manchester Police have also seized a vehicle which is believed to be the one seen in the footage, along with a water pistol suspected to have been used during the incident. However, clips have been reposted by other social media users. Chief Inspector Simon Ashcroft, of GMP's Salford district, said: "We are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness and have acted swiftly to make arrests. GMP has a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime in any form, and we are committed to ensuring our communities feel safe and supported. 'We continue to work closely with our partners to provide reassurance and encourage anyone affected to come forward. We are also aware from other footage that there may be further victims, and we urge anyone who believes they have been targeted to contact GMP or the Community Security Trust (CST)." More than £37,000-worth of dodgy vapes, tobacco and toys have been seized in a series of raids on Greater Manchester shops. Officers visited seven shops in Bury and Prestwich across two days this week, leading to a huge haul of suspicious items being recovered from 'inventive hiding spots'. In total, police seized 1,713 packs of cigarettes, 447 vapes and 168 packs of hand rolling tobacco. "Some were linked to anti-social behaviour reports and others were believed to be selling illicit tobacco and vapes to youths," a GMP Bury spokesperson said. They added: "There were some very inventive hiding spots, including secret panels in toilet walls, false ceilings and behind boxes of cereal displayed on shelves." GMP's Bury neighbourhood officers carried out the searches on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 5 and 6) alongside licensing and trading standards teams from the town hall, and Home Office immigration officers. No immigration arrests were made during the seven raids, GMP says. Images shared by GMP on social media show large evidence bags stashed with suspected illicit tobacco and cigarettes, being carried into a police van. Tragedy as motorcyclist killed in horror crash

A motorcyclist has tragically died following a crash on a major Cheshire road. Emergency services raced out to the A525 Whitchurch Road in Audlem, near Nantwich, on Wednesday morning (August 6). Cheshire Police says officers were called out to reports of a collision close to the junction with Rookery Lane at 8.17am. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, Cheshire Police says. The driver of the van, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail. Enquiries are ongoing and witnesses are now being urged to come forward.
