Actor Dhanush's highly anticipated new film with 'Por Thozhil' director Vignesh Raja has officially gone on floors. Tentatively titled 'D54', the project marks their first collaboration and promises a gritty, intense narrative.

Dhanush who plays the lead in the film, took to his Instagram handle to share the first look poster for 'D54'. The first look poster shows Dhanush standing in front of a burning cotton field, with the tagline that reads, "Sometimes staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive. #D54 starring @dhanushkraja - On floors from today. Produced by @dr.isharik.ganesh @VelsFilmIntl. A film by @vignesh_raja."
A riveting drama or thriller on the horizon
Written by Vignesh Raja and Alfred Prakash (who also co-wrote Por Thozhil), D54 is expected to be a suspenseful and gripping film. The visuals and tagline hint at a survival-centric, possibly politically charged storyline. Dhanush and the 'Premalu' star Mamitha Baiju will be seen playing the lead role in the film.
Supporting cast includes Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, KS Ravikumar, Karunas, Nitin Sathyaa, Prithvi Pandiaraj, and Kushmitha The music is by GV Prakash Kumar and the cinematography by Theni Eswar.
Editing section is handled by Sreejith Sarang.
D54 marks a fresh chapter for both Dhanush and Vignesh Raja and has already begun generating buzz thanks to its intense first look.
A busy slate for Dhanush
Dhanush was last seen in Sekhar Kammula's Kuberaa and has wrapped up Tere Ishk Mein. Other projects in the pipeline include 'Idly Kadai D55 with Rajkumar Periasamy D56 with Mari Selvaraj, The Ilaiyaraaja biopic by Arun Matheswaran, and Kalam, a biopic on A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, directed by Om Raut.
Meanwhile, the Tamil version of his hit 'Raanjhanaa' aka 'Ambikapathy', is set for a theatrical re-release. Meanwhile, 'Kuberaa' received good reviews from critics and audiences as well.
