Wicklow's Netflix and Playstation musicians to headline Dublin's Whelan's

The award-winning duo consists of composer/producer Gus Crawford Collins and singer/songwriter, The Voice finalist Kim Hayden.
You will have heard this exciting duo's cinematic music on several of the latest Netflix hit series, including Fool Me Once, Missing You and Obsession, as well as blockbuster movie trailers, including Mothers Instinct and Unsung Hero and, of course, the show that really brought their music to the mainstream, Love Island.
Their work for Netflix's Obsession trailer earned them the award for Best Use Of Music at the Promax awards, while PlayStation's renowned 30th Anniversary Trailer also featured their award-winning cover of 'Dreams'.
Their sound, which has been carefully crafted and honed over many yeas, has been described as 'uniquely ethereal, cinematic and atmospheric', and the pair found their winning formula in the film, tv, trailers and gaming world soundscape.
Dream A Lot's originals and reimagines of classic hits such as Christina Aguilera's Fighter, Kylie's Can't Get You Out Of My Head and their viral cover of Dreams by the Cranberries have been heard by millions across the world. On top of which they have made their way into the top five Shazam charts with their cover of Shakespeare's Sister Stay.
All the work is done at a little studio at their home in Newcastle, Co Wicklow, where apart from film and TV soundtracks, they work on original music, which they always hoped to release and perform.
When they spoke to independent.ie last year, they did hint at a live show, and in terms of replicating their music, as with all they do, they were aiming high.
'We've been toying with some ideas,' Gus said. 'Because the kind of thing we want to do is like a sort of Hans Zimmer-style show, make it really, you know, super cinematic. Almost like a soundtrack night almost essentially. I think we're going to try and be brave.'
This is a rare opportunity to see and hear the Dream A Lot experience as they play their favourite tracks and new originals live in the intimate Whelan's venue.
Dream A Lot, with special guests Nadia and Kellie Lewis, play Whelan's Main Venue on Sunday, July 27.

Wednesday cast reveal how the Irish landscape made the Addams family 'look alive'

The Netflix hit series Wednesday swapped the hills of Romania for the greenery of Ireland for season two, and it turns out, that led to some unexpected issues. Steve Buscemi, Jenna Ortega, Joanna Lumley and producer Tim Burton were discussing what it was like to film in the Emerald Isle during a recent press conference, with the Wednesday actress sharing that something kept making the Addams family 'look alive'. A question submitted by Geek Ireland was asked during the panel, querying what was the thing that surprised them all the most about Ireland while they were here. Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Isaac Ordonez aș Pugsley Addams, Thing and Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams. Pic: Helen Sloan/Netflix Jenna shared: 'Everything about Ireland was so beautiful, and we had such a hard-working crew, and people who really just gave it their all, and were so skilled. 'But the only real challenge we had was fighting the green. It was so green there, and it was so bright for the show. Suddenly the Addams looked alive.' While everyone laughed, Tim added: 'Take it down a notch!' Jenna Ortega in Wednesday. Pic: Jonathan Hession/Netflix Steve also joked: 'I was surprised at how much Guinness I could actually drink every day, never while shooting. But yeah, it's… It was so lovely shooting there. The people are amazing.' Joanna was also thrilled to be working on Wednesday in Ashford Studios, having been to Ireland for work many times, she had only really been in Ardmore Studios and was thrilled to discover another area that had been previously used by Vikings. She explained: 'I was pretty thrilled, because having filmed there a few times, in the Ardmore studios, I didn't know there was a studio even further south of that. 'And just to come to Ashford Studios, which were, I think, used for about 10 years in a series called The Vikings, if I'm right, leaving behind bits and pieces on the hillside, which is actually very good, because any artist knows that debris is better than being a white sheet. 'It's much better to work on printed or messed paper or an old used napkin than on a terrible white paper. So, suddenly they've got this derelict stuff of bits of old rampant and hills and the challenges of a new studio. 'It must have been heavenly but hard to work in Romania. And I just think that Ireland, it has a natural feeling, because there's something in Ireland which is slightly otherworldly anyway, and it's it embraced… it embraced the whole feeling of Wednesday.' The old Vikings Valhalla sets came in handy as they were even redressed and used as part of Pilgrim World (according to Ortega), with Tim confirming: 'We had the whole studio to ourselves, which was amazing, and we ended up pilfering some of those sets.'
