We are counting down to the start of the 2025 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals, and that is exactly four weeks away. They will open the season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. That is 28 days away.
As we count down the remaining days of the offseason, let's look at who has worn that number uniform over the years for the Cardinals.

Cornerback Elijah Jones, drafted in the third round last year, is the Cardinals' current No. 28. He is battling for a roster spot this year after spending all last season on injured reserve.
There have been no "great" players with No. 28. Rashad went on to be a four-time Pro Bowler years after being drafted by the Cardinals. Bethel was a very good special teams player and lasted over a decade in the NFL. Bennett was just a decent player.

Bengals coaches working to "showcase" Chase Brown's tools this season

Quarterback Joe Burrow isn't the only member of the Bengals who thinks running back Chase Brown has big things ahead of him this season. After a quiet rookie season, the 2023 fifth-round pick broke out with 1,350 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns for the Bengals in 2024. That left offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher to call him "a top-10 back in the league" and he said the team wants Brown "ready to touch the ball as many times as possible.' That goal led the team's offensive coaches to rethink their run scheme for the 2025 season and running backs coach Justin Hill said the conversations were focused on Brown above all else. 'At the end of the conversation, it wasn't about what we think looks good on the board,' Hill said, via Charlie Goldsmith of the Associated Press. "[It was] what is Chase good at? How can we showcase his tools in the run game and in the pass game? Where we have in the run game right now is pretty true to who we think Chase is and what he can be.' The Bengals showed that they can feed plenty of mouths on offense in 2024. They'd like to do that again this season while also winning enough games to see if their revised approach can lead to a long postseason run.

Bills, RB James Cook agree to $48 million extension

Cook is now one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL After a lengthy hold-in, James Cook and the Buffalo Bills finally have a deal. On Wednesday, Cook agreed to an extension with the Bills. He'll sign a four-year, $48 million deal to remain in Buffalo, getting $30 million guaranteed on his new contract. Cook had been in attendance at training camp but he was not participating in practice until Tuesday. He returned to the field and was a full participant, a sign that there was a positive development in contract talks between his agent and the team. Cook, who's in his fourth season in the NFL, was seeking a raise before his rookie deal expired at the end of the 2025 campaign. He certainly got one, bumping his salary up to $12 million per year. That puts him tied with Josh Jacobs as the sixth-highest-paid running back in the NFL based on annual salary. His $30 million guaranteed is the third-most at the position, with the total value tied for the highest of any running back in the NFL, matching Jacobs' number. Last season, Cook rushed for 1,009 yards on just 207 carries, leading the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns. He earned his second straight Pro Bowl selection thanks to his 1,267 scrimmage yards and 18 total touchdowns. In 2023, he set a career-high with 1,567 yards from scrimmage, but he only scored six total touchdowns that year and had four fumbles. Considered one of the most explosive backs in football, the Bills keep him in the backfield behind Josh Allen as yet another weapon in this loaded offense.
