LSU's Livvy Dunne reveals how relationship with Paul Skenes almost derailed

In an interview with GQ Sports, LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne revealed why her relationship with former Tigers pitcher Paul Skenes nearly derailed in the early stages.
"He wouldn't follow me back on Instagram," Dunne told GQ. "I was like, 'who is this kid and why won't he follow me back?'"
Skenes, who only recently started receiving more attention thanks to his young MLB career, rarely used his Instagram account at the time in early 2023. By August, the pair were officially together heading into their senior years in Baton Rouge.
During those months, Dunne continued competing in her third year at LSU and Skenes won the college World Series in his inaugural season with the Tigers. He entered the 2023 MLB Draft and was selected first-overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
By the time his rookie season rolled around, Skenes progressed quickly from the minor leagues to the professional level. He started the 2024 All-Star Game for the National League and won Rookie of the Year with Dunne by his side.
The right-handed pitcher is off to a strong start to his sophomore campaign. Through 12.1 innings pitched in two starts, Skenes has a 1.46 ERA and 13 strikeouts. Dunne, despite suffering a season-ending injury, is traveling with LSU to the second round of the NCAA Postseason at the Penn State regional. The Tigers are aiming to defend their national title from a season ago.

Paige Bueckers Finds Inspiration From Former Mercury Star's Longevity
Paige Bueckers Finds Inspiration From Former Mercury Star's Longevity originally appeared on Athlon Sports. On Wednesday, Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers returns to action against the Phoenix Mercury. Due to the WNBA's concussion protocol, Bueckers had to miss a few games for the Wings. Following that, she had an illness, which made her miss four straight games. Advertisement Ahead of the contest, Bueckers entertained the media as she returned to the lineup. One of the questions was about her thoughts on former Mercury star Diana Taurasi. The basketball icon spent her entire 20-year career in Phoenix and retired after the 2024 season. She didn't stay for one more year to have the chance to play against Bueckers, whom she views as the best player in the league. Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers warms up before a game against the Chicago Sky at the Wintrust Gorski-Imagn Images During her time with reporters, Bueckers was asked about her thoughts on the future Hall of Fame player. According to her, she's looked up to Taurasi since she was young and looks at her greatness as "inspiring." Advertisement "I've looked up to DT (Diana Taurasi) ever since I was little, and she's the shoes that I want to fill," Bueckers said. "And the greatness that she carried on and off the court is something that I truly admired, and it was inspiring to me. The former UConn star also commented on the 43-year-old's longevity and how she wants to imitate it. "Definitely," when asked if she would have preferred to play against Taurasi, the Rookie of the Year nominee said. "I wish I got to compete against her. But she had a great, long career. Longevity is something that I want to do as well." Like Bueckers, Taurasi was an icon for UConn from 2000 to 2004. They have a lot of similarities in their basketball career. Both won the NCAA championship and were picked first overall in their respective draft classes. Advertisement Drawing inspiration from Taurasi is a good sign for what's to come for Buecker's career. De'Aaron Fox offers injury update
De'Aaron Fox offers injury update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Last season, before the trade deadline, the San Antonio Spurs added All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings, hoping that he would be the long-term running mate for Victor Wembanyama. Advertisement The pair played only five games together, going 2-3, before Wembanyama had his season ended early with a deep vein thrombosis diagnosis in his shoulder. A few weeks later, Fox had his season ended as well, undergoing surgery on his pinkie finger. In 17 games with the Spurs, Fox averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists, clearly needing to get used to his new team. He expects to use the offseason to settle into his role with his new teammates and is already playing five-on-five and has been cleared for contact. 'I'm doing well. The surgery went fine,' Fox told The Houston Chronicle. 'I've been cleared, so I played a little five-on-five, and I've done contact stuff, so I'll be ready for next year.' The Spurs gave up Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Sidy Cissoko, and four first-round draft picks to the Kings and Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal to land Fox, although several of those picks had protections on them, and one of them ended up not conveying to the Kings. Advertisement Before the trade, Fox asked the Kings to get a deal done and listed the Spurs as the only acceptable landing spot. With Wembanyama in town, San Antonio has become a premier destination, and Fox got in on the ground floor, expecting the team to find massive success in the next few years.
