Kaizer Chiefs new era: New captain, jerseys unveiled

Kaizer Chiefs will have a new-look about them next season.
Kaizer Chiefs will look very different next season. Yusuf Maart's departure has opened the door to the next Amakhosi captain.
Meanwhile, Chiefs new home and awak kits for the 2025/26 season have been unveiled.
Maart is one of SEVEN Chiefs departures so far.
He joins Ranga Chivaviro, Sabelo Radebe, Njabulo Blom, Edmilson Dove, Mduduzi Mdantsane and Edson Castillo. So, Amakhosi needs to appoint a new captain to replace Maart.
Chiefs utilised Inacio Miguel as their skipper during their pre-season tour of the Netherlands. Meaning, he is the firm favourite to take over the captaincy from Maart.
Meanwhile, both Brandon Peterson and Zitha Kwinika are set to become vice-captains. This will depend on selection, according to SNL .
Chiefs have unveiled their new home and away jerseys for the upcoming season.
Moreover, the new kits aim to embody African cultures whilst encompassing the latest eco-friendly technology and jersey innovations.

'The away jersey always allows us to play around a bit and we are proud of the camouflage-like design that represents the shields and the garments worn by Africans during traditional events. It's symbol of fashion, art and creativity that will be worn by hardcore football fans as well as general fashion enthusiasts,' Jessica Motaung told the media.
Finally, Amakhosi will have several new players under their new skipper rocking their new jersey next season. To date, they have signed SIX new players with these Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana targets on Chiefs' radar.

I wasn't really close to joining Chiefs, says new Sundowns star

Newly-signed Mamelodi Sundowns star Fawaaz Basadien has revealed that he was never close to joining Kaizer Chiefs. Basadien was a top performer for Stellenbosch FC last season, and speculation around his future was rife. Chiefs were, at some point, reported to be closing in on Basadien but the Bafana Bafana defender has stated otherwise. Basadien was speaking to Robert Marawa on MSW on 947 where he revealed that he always wanted to join Sundowns. Nonetheless, the left-footed player admitted that there were behind-the-scene talks for him to move to Chiefs but nothing came out of those. Mamelodi Sundowns announce Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC. Image: @masandawana/X 'It wasn't really close, to be honest. It wasn't really close,' revealed Basadien. 'There was, obviously, a lot of interest, talks and everything but my main focus… my main decision was to join Sundowns. 'So, that was my main.' Moves like Mmusi Maimane! Epic throwback of politician goes viral

An old clip of Mmusi Maimane performing on stage as a kwaito artist has gone viral. In it, the politician, ordained minister, and now PhD graduate rapped and bopped to his catchy song, Mjita wako kasi. Maimane – who went by his stage name Aloysia, his middle name – wrote his PhD dissertation, an autoethnography, about his journey from Soweto to Johannesburg government leadership. On the X app, user @Sentletse posted a clip of Mmusi Maimane's stint as a music artist. 'Did you all know that Dr Maimane (Mjita wako kasi) was an aspiring kwaito star?', the popular account posted. In the clip, the 45-year-old performed his song on a SABC 1 dance show. Sporting a gold chain, a floppy hat, and a toothpick in his mouth, Maimane hopped and bopped alongside his group of dancers. Responding to the clip, Mmusi jokingly posted: 'I was moving, cooking, and good-looking. 'I think I need to do a remix with Booga Luv for this December'. Mmusi Maimane has since ditched his forest of superstardom as an entertainer to take up politics instead. After resigning as leader of the Democratic Alliance in 2019, Mmusi founded the civic organisation One South Africa Movement the following year. In 2022, he established his own political party, Build One South Africa (BOSA). Apart from politics – and music – Mmusi Maimaine is also an ordained minister and an elder at the Liberty Church in Johannesburg. The father of three – who has a masters in theology – also regularly preaches at churches around South Africa and around the world. He said of his choice of career: 'Politics is about two things: it's about government and it's about influence…the only way they (Christians) will become in charge of the nation is if the nation votes for them.
