Even with some families in the dark, Fox Chapel to resume in-person classes on Tuesday
Students in the Fox Chapel School District will face some disrupted bus routes on Tuesday, as it will be their first day back in school in about a week.
Dave Pechersky lives on Windsor Road and has kids within the district.
'Tuesday was they're last day in school. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday there was no school. Today they had a virtual day, but we didn't have internet, so they were using hot spots to get onto their school iPads and it's been pretty disruptive.'
Pechersky is among the parents who were told their students will have to walk a bit further to their bus stop on Tuesday due to continued road closures in the area. His son Theo is 12 years old.
'It makes me feel a little crazy to think I have to walk over powerlines and things like that. It's not a normal school day,' Theo said.
Neighbors on Windsor Road are still without power. They are forced to drive under power lines and around damage, now almost a week after the storm hit.
'They have to rebuild the lines that go around the entire circle. So we are not exactly sure when that is going to happen,' Dave Pechersky said.
Fox Chapel was in the middle of PSSA testing during the storm and will resume in-person classes on Tuesday. Theo said he's nervous to see what school work he will be thrown back into,bBut he said there were some upsides.
'But at the same time, I get five days off of school, so that's pretty nice,' Theo said.

Seven taken to hospital from Oakmont Thursday, officials remind people to stay hydrated
The heat on Thursday was a major thing for many people, especially because, other than going into the merch tent and some other tent areas, there were really not many areas to get out of the sun. Officials have been trying to remind people to drink enough water. There are hydration stations all around the different fan zones around the course where you can fill up a water bottle for free. Channel 11 spoke with some fans about the heat today. 'Very hot. Very hot,' said Don Szoszorek of Allison Park. 'It's great, we've never been, it's been an awesome course, great watching everyone play.' 'It's been fun, we've been staying put some times, moving around others, so overall pretty good, hard to find shade, but it is what it is,' said one fan. 'Make sure you take care of yourselves,' said Brian Maloney, Director of Operations for Plum EMS. 'Kind of be prepared, preplan, that's one of the most important things you can do, and have a good time, safely.' EMTs on site have responded to 850 calls this week – most of them minor. Officials tell Channel 11 as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, they took 13 people to the hospital since Monday — seven of those transports happened Thursday. Warm morning leading to plenty of sun, humid afternoon
It's a bit warmer this morning, with most neighborhoods starting off the day in the low 60s. Expect plenty of sun today along with some cumulus clouds and highs pushing into the upper 80s. Humidity will become more noticeable by this afternoon. Friday won't be as warm, but it will be humid with widely scattered thunderstorms popping up during the afternoon. Severe weather is not expected, but storms may contain heavy rain, given the high moisture content. Off and on showers and storms are expected each day this weekend, although no day will be a washout. With more clouds and rain around, temperatures will struggle to get out of the 70s, but it will remain muggy and a bit unsettled going into early next week.
