Goa film finance scheme reopens after 10 yrs
Panaji: The Goa film finance scheme is set to reopen from June 18 to 25, inviting filmmakers to submit any pending applications for financial support. The scheme, inactive since 2015, offers financial assistance to Goan filmmakers producing feature and non-feature films in Konkani, Marathi, English, and Hindi. Entertainment Society of Goa chairperson Delilah Lobo said that the grant will be given to select films. 'The scrutiny is complete, and an evaluation committee will now begin grading the applications. The finance committee will then decide on the distribution of funds for the selected projects,' Lobo said. Feature films get financial aid in three categories—A category Rs 50 lakh, B category Rs 30 lakh, and C category Rs 10 lakh. Producers can receive up to 50% of the total expenditure, based on an audited statement or income tax return (ITR) filed, whichever is lesser. For non-feature films, grants include—A category Rs 10 lakh, B category Rs 5 lakh, and C category Rs 3 lakh, covering up to 50% of expenditure, as per audited statement and ITR, whichever is lesser.

How to Train Your Dragon roars in India, earns Rs 14 crore on opening weekend
'How To Train Your Dragon' took the box office by storm in its first week in India over the weekend. The film earned Rs 14 crore in India, making it the biggest opening weekend in the franchise to date. It is also the biggest opening weekend for a family film this year, and the fifth-biggest opening weekend for a motion picture title in to Train Your Dragon' is one of the top-performing animation-to-live-action adaptations in the post-pandemic era. The film, which hit the theatres on June 13, was released across Indian theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, offering 2D, 3D, and IMAX screenings. IMAX alone accounted for 21 per cent of the total box office revenue, highlighting the contribution of premium formats to its by franchise veteran Dean DeBlois, the film delves deeper into the emotional arcs and Viking world-building while staying faithful to the 2010 animated film.
