Three people who hijacked a delivery vehicle in Browns Farm, Philippi, on Thursday, were gunned down moments later at an intersection.
According to Western Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Andrè Traut, the three people attacked two men at gunpoint before forcing them into the back of the delivery vehicle they had been driving, and speeding off.
'As the vehicle approached the intersection of Sheffield and Monwood Roads, it came under gunfire from unknown assailants. The shooting resulted in the deaths of three of the alleged hijackers. Their identities and ages are yet to be confirmed,' said Traut.
Traut said detectives attached to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit were following all leads in connection with the triple murder.
The Nyanga Community Policing Forum was approached for comment, which will be added once received.

Police: 1 dead, 1 injured, 1 in custody in shooting at Avalon Fishing Pier

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) — One person has been killed, another person has been injured and a suspect is in custody after a shooting in the parking lot of the Avalon Fishing Pier in Kill Devil Hills Thursday afternoon, Kill Devil Hills Assistant Chief of Police Dana Harris said. Harris said they received a report of shots fired at the Avalon Fishing Pier at 2:37 p.m. and police responded in less than four minutes. He said one person died at the scene, and another person who was shot and injured was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He said a suspect is in custody and there is no threat to the public at this time. Harris said the suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving at the scene, but witnesses with descriptions of the suspect and his car, he said, helped in catching the suspect, who was stopped by Southern Shores Police, with multiple agencies helping. He said he had not had to deal with anything like what happened in his 48 years in law enforcement across multiple jurisdictions. 'It's bad to lose anybody from here or not from here, tourists or locals,' Harris said. 'If any of you all have had a friend or someone killed, you'll understand what these families are going through.' Nearby tourists said they were shocked to see the scary scene too. One beachgoer said he was near the pier and heard the gunfire. 'The people at the pier and under the pier, as soon as I seen them running, scrambling, jumping off the pier, I was like, 'That was a gun,'' Justin Smiley said. 'I'm pretty sure it was five [shots]. It was back-to-back and constant, but I think it was five.' As authorities continue to investigate, locals and tourists alike hope things can settle for everyone moving forward. 'This isn't typical,' said tourist Lindsay Defelice, 'and so I wouldn't want people to be scared to come here or anything. It's just a crazy situation.' Said Smiley: '[It's] something you don't expect, something you wouldn't want to expect, especially down here. You wouldn't think that, but stuff happens.' Harris said the shooting is still under investigation. A source who works at the pier said a boy was shot in the parking lot of the Avalon Fishing Pier after a possible argument. A witness said the shooter drove around the parking lot, then shot the boy in the chest, and another person was shot also. It is not yet clear which one was killed and which one was injured. The Avalon Fishing Pier is a popular spot on the Outer Banks, with both locals and tourists fishing there and accessing the beach. Austin Ayers, a Republican congressional candidate, said his thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved. 'My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this incident unfolding in Kill Devil Hills right now,' Ayers said in a Facebook post. 'I am being briefed on the situation. While information is very limited, please respect all first responders at the Avalon Pier. They are doing their job. If they request you leave the area, please do. Please remain vigilant as well, and report any suspicious activity to 911 immediately.'Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Gary Busey Pleads Guilty to Sex Crimes Charge, Admits 'It Was Not an Accidental Touching'

Busey entered his plea during a virtual court appearance where he admitted he inappropriately touched a woman at the semi-annual Monster-Mania Convention at a Doubletree Hotel in New Jersey in August of 2022. "It was not an accidental touching," Busey told the judge, according to The Guardian. Busey's criminal defense attorney Blair Zwillman tells PEOPLE that in order for the judge to accept the guilty plea, "there has to be a factual basis where he admits the offense. He had to admit that it was non-consensual.' 'This was the best disposition for him," says Zwillman. "He's glad to put this behind him. He is basically a family guy. He is not a criminal." Busey, who was initially charged with four counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of attempted criminal sexual contact, has yet to be sentenced. He faces fines and one to five years of probation. 'We're going to ask that he'd just be fined and end it,' says women reported that the actor touched them inappropriately during an autograph signing meet-and-greet at Monster-Mania in 2022. The actor initially denied any wrongdoing. "None of that happened,' he told TMZ. 'It was a partner, a camera lady and me, and two girls ... it took less than 10 seconds, and they left. Then they made up a story that I assaulted them sexually and I did not. Nothing happened, it's all false." Busey was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story. He also has appeared in dozens of other films including Predator 2 and Point Break. Former US soldier is suspected in Montana bar shooting that killed 4, prompting search

Montana Shooting A shooting at a Montana bar Friday left four people dead, and law enforcement officers were searching for a suspect described by his niece as a former U.S. soldier who struggled to get help for mental health problems. Officers searched a mountainous area west of the small town of Anaconda for the 45-year-old suspect, Michael Paul Brown. He lived next door to the site of the 10:30 a.m. shooting at the Owl Bar, according to public records and bar owner David Gwerder. The bartender and three patrons were killed, said Gwerder, who was not there at the time. He believed the four victims were the only ones present during the shooting, and was not aware of any prior conflicts between them and Brown. "He knew everybody that was in that bar. I guarantee you that,' Gwerder said. 'He didn't have any running dispute with any of them. I just think he snapped.' Brown's home was cleared by a SWAT team and he was last seen in the Stump Town area, just west of Anaconda, authorities said. More than a dozen officers from local and state police converged on that area, locking it down so no one was allowed in or out. A helicopter also hovered over a nearby mountainside as officers moved among the trees, said Randy Clark, a retired police officer who lives there. Brown was believed to be armed, the Montana Highway Patrol said in a statement. Brown served in the U.S. Army as an armor crewman from 2001 to 2005 and deployed to Iraq from early 2004 until March 2005, according to Lt. Col. Ruth Castro, an Army spokesperson. Brown was in the Montana National Guard from 2006 to March 2009, Castro said. He left military service in the rank of sergeant. His niece, Clare Boyle, told the AP on Friday that her uncle has been mentally sick for years and that she and other family members have tried repeatedly to seek help. 'This isn't just a drunk/high man going wild,' she wrote in a Facebook message. 'It's a sick man who doesn't know who he is sometimes and frequently doesn't know where or when he is either.' As reports of the shooting spread through town, business owners locked their doors and sheltered inside with customers. Anaconda is about 75 miles (120 kilometers) southeast of Missoula in a valley hemmed in by mountains. A town of about 9,000 people, it was founded by copper barons who profited off nearby mines in the late 1800s. A smelter stack that's no longer operational looms over the valley. The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation into the shooting. The owner of the Firefly Café in Anaconda said she locked up her business at about 11 a.m. Friday after getting alerted to the shooting by a friend. 'We are Montana, so guns are not new to us," café owner Barbie Nelson said. 'For our town to be locked down, everybody's pretty rattled.'
