Sophie Habboo's 'really bad' pregnancy craving prompts mums to share similar strange urges
Mothers-to-be have joined the former Made in Chelsea Star in confessing their strange food desires
Pregnancy cravings, often triggered by hormonal changes, are a common experience during pregnancy. For some mothers, cravings can be burdensome if they revolve around fatty or unhealthy foods.
For other parents-to-be, it can be a complete treat to chow down on their favourite meal for nine whole months. Celebrities get the insatiable urge for certain foods while awaiting their bundle of joy, too.
In the first episode of her rebranded podcast with husband Jamie Laing, former Made In Chelsea star Sophie Habboo, 30, revealed she has a "really bad" pregnancy craving for caviar.
The couple's podcast, which was formerly called NearlyWeds and then NewlyWeds, following their wedding in 2023, will now be called NearlyParents, in the lead-up to the birth of their first child.
In their debut episode, titled We're Having A Baby, Habboo and Laing, 36, shared the story of how and when they decided to try for a baby.

The couple also discussed the methods Habboo used to track her ovulation and the cravings she has experienced since becoming pregnant.
Laing said: "Sophie said, 'Oh, it's really annoying. I've got a really bad craving.'
"And I said, 'Well, what is the craving?' She said, 'Caviar.' So, we went to the store. We went. We found a caviar store, and we went in there, and there was caviar there. And I was like, 'Okay, we're surely not buying this.'
"The pot was £240, and I was like, that craving, has to stop there and then. And thank God, you came to your senses."
Habboo interjected hotly, though, insisting that she didn't come to her senses - she just googled caviar and found out she couldn't eat it while the countdown was on until baby Laing arrived.
"[Otherwise] I was going to give birth and then just be broke and never, ever be able to eat again," Sophie confessed, laughing.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pregnant women should only eat fish, meat, poultry, and eggs that have been thoroughly cooked. Since caviar is often consumed raw, although there is no explicit guidance against eating it while pregnant, doing so is generally deemed not worth the risk.
The reality star's admission has moved other mums to share the urges their experiencing during this sacred time.
Taking to Mumsnet, one woman confessed: "I'm only seven weeks and I can't stop thinking about roast lamb and gravy. This is strange because not only has it been close to 30 degrees and definitely not the weather for a roast, but I've never been that fond of lamb. It's unfortunately a very difficult (and EXPENSIVE!) craving to fulfil."
Another scribed: "Oranges by the net full, and really cold milk by the pint. I wouldn't drink a pint of milk before or since if you paid me!"
A third threw a curveball, writing: "I've been chewing on sponges. Proper weird stuff."
A fourth explained: "Normally I can't get enough of onions but now I can't stand them. I bring them up immediately. I also can't stand the smell or taste of butter. Plain water makes me want to puke.
"I can only do simple foods and put ketchup with everything. So embarrassing as I love cooking and fine dining. But I just want fish finger/chicken nugget sandwiches with white bread and ketchup.
"And sweet yoghurts, rice pudding and cornflakes."

Sam Thompson's 'bravado' in first meeting with Louis Tomlinson at Soccer Aid
Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson have finally come face-to-face after the One Direction singer started dating the Made in Chelsea star's ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott. Last year I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! winner Sam, 32, split from his long-time girlfriend Zara, who rose to fame appearing on Love Island. The couple had been together for five years, however three months later Zara, 28, was spotted on a date in Suffolk with Louis, 33. At the time a source said Sam was 'hurting' and was struggling after seeing his ex 'move on so quickly'. Not long after the new romance was confirmed, it was revealed that the men were set to meet on live TV after both signing up for the Soccer Aid for Unicef match in June, where they will both be playing on the England team. Now, with the match just a few days away, the pair have taken to the pitch for training at Old Trafford in Manchester, with photographers capturing them together. During the session, Sam and Louis were seen doing their best to avoid eye contact when meeting. Throughout training, they were seen having a kick with their fellow teammates, who include Tom Grennan, Bear Grylls, Paddy McGuinness, Wayne Rooney and Jill Scott. One photo saw them pose for a team photo, with Louis standing directly behind Sam, while another showed Sam standing close by Louis as they trained. Weighing in on their interaction, body language expert Judi James said Sam looked like he was trying to convey a sense of 'bravado'. 'Both Sam's 'red carpet' pose and Louis's arrival for the game suggest the kind of overkill, stretched smiles that hint at a huge desire to act as though nothing has happened despite this being their first meet-up since Sam split with Zara who then moved on with Louis,' she told Metro. 'Sam's smile in particular looks like a gesture of bravado as his chest is also puffed in a look of pride and resilience. There are no moments here where the two men performed an act of acknowledgment, greeting each other or even shaking hands or hugging to signal there are no hard feelings.' She went on: 'When you try to ignore a glaring situation like this it often adds to the drama, but the suggestion is that neither of these celebrity 'nice guys' wanted to upstage a very worthwhile charity event. While Sam resorted to playful showboating Louis appeared more low-key and introvert, watching Sam at times but with the two men otherwise avoiding eye contact.' Since being spotted together in March, Louis and Zara have taken romantic trips away together to Los Angeles and Costa Rica. Meanwhile Sam has now moved on himself too, and is dating another Love Island star – Samie Eilishi, 25. However last month his best mate and podcast host Pete Wicks poked fun at Sam, addressing his 'rivalry' with Louis. 'How do you feel about the lineup? Do you think you have a strong team? Any kind of people in there that you're looking forward to playing with?' he asked. Laughing but avoiding to be drawn, Sam listed other stars he was looking forward to playing with. More Trending 'Make sure you get him on side though,' Pete said about boxer Tyson Fury. 'Because you may need him in your corner. In case you fall out with anyone – not that you will – but just in case there's any rivalries or anything. 'You know you have to train together and it's a lot and you know when you're kind of in close quarters with someone like that, all sorts get brought up.' Despite the potentially awkward run-in, a source previously said that Sam had 'no hard feelings' towards Louis. The Soccer Aid for Unicef match airs Sunday 15 June on ITV1. Got a story? Mums clap back at Karen Millen breastfeeding comments as NHS issue guidance
Karen Millen has come under fire for her divisive remarks on breastfeeding and mums have had their say Mothers have made their feelings clear about comments made by Karen Millen after she said breastfeeding an infant after six months is "selfish". The fashion designer came under fire after making a series of damaging claims about breastfeeding during her appearance on The Vanessa Show earlier this week. Karen, 63, claimed on the Channel 5 programme that it was "selfish" for mothers to continue to breastfeed their children after six months of age, sparking fury online. Appearing on Wednesday's show (June 11), Karen discussed a video of a mother breastfeeding her three-year-old. She said: "There's no benefit, is there? For a child to be breastfed beyond six months, really. I think it's quite a selfish thing on the mother's part." Vanessa, 63, asked: "Do you?" To which Karen replied: "I do, actually." When asked why she feels that way, Karen explained: "Well, I just think, you know, that's not good emotionally for that child." Karen issued an apology via Vanessa following the controversial admission, but it seems it has done little to pacify breastfeeding experts and mothers - some of whom took to Mumsnet to share their opinions on the matter. One poster wrote: "According to Karen Millen (who is, notably, a clothing designer and not a child development expert), breastfeeding beyond six months has no benefit for the child, is selfish, and is a sign of addiction. "You're not allowed to get it right as a mother, are you? Bad if you don't breastfeed but also bad if you breastfeed for too long, apparently. "God knows why Karen Millen was being asked for her opinion on the subject in the first place." A second parent gave their perspective, writing: "It was so icky and the apology wasn't good either. They needed to emphasise the guidance and the benefits but she just kind of reiterated herself. Disappointed." A third agreed, fuming: "I get so annoyed about so called " celebrities" giving their ignorant and ill-informed opinions about anything outside their own area of experience. It is so irresponsible and damaging. "How dare she? What a stupid statement." Other parents weren't so bothered by Karen's statements, though. "I didn't feel rage, because I (mostly) agree with her," one admitted. "Not necessarily that it's an addiction, but that there's no need to breastfeed babies past six months," Another questioned: "Rage because someone asked her opinion? No, I don't feel that way. I wouldn't even let this bother me. People have opinions on everything I simply can't go around choosing to be offended by everything I hear and disagree with. It would be exhausting." A third said: "Look what's going on in America with false information around vaccines etc, false information giving out by the actual US Secretary of Health. People have their own brains to make informed decisions." The NHS recommends that mothers "breastfeed your baby exclusively... for the first six months months of their life" but maintained breastfeeding "still has lots of benefits for you and your baby after six months". "It protects them from infections and there's some evidence that it helps with the digestion of your baby's first solid foods," the NHS website states. It also continues to provide the balance of nutrients your baby needs. Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation states: "WHO recommends you keep breastfeeding your child up to two years and beyond and for as long as you both want to continue. "Breastfeeding never stops protecting children from infectious disease." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
