Elon Musk's BIG warning to Apple, plans to sue tech giant for not featuring X or Grok among…

India.coma day ago
Billionaire Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX, Tesla, and X, has said he intends to sue Apple for excluding X and its Grok AI chatbot app from the App Store's top recommended apps list. Elon Musk On Apple App Store Ranking
Musk posted the comments on X late Monday, saying, 'Hey @Apple App Store, why do you refuse to put either X or Grok in your Must Have' section when X is the #1 news app in the world and Grok is #5 among all apps? Are you playing politics? What gives? Inquiring minds want to know.'
Grok is owned by Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI.
Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation.
xAI will take immediate legal action.

Musk went on to say that 'Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation. xAI will take immediate legal action.' He gave no further details. What's Apple Stand On Elon Musk's Claims?
There was no immediate comment from Apple, which has faced various allegations of antitrust violations in recent years. A federal judge recently found that Apple violated a court injunction in an antitrust case filed by Fortnite maker Epic Games.
Regulators of the 27-nation European Union fined Apple 500 million euros in April for breaking competition rules by preventing app makers from pointing users to cheaper options outside its App Store.
Last year, the EU fined the US tech giant nearly USD 2 billion for unfairly favouring its own music streaming service by forbidding rivals like Spotify from telling users how they could pay for cheaper subscriptions outside of iPhone apps.

InMobi bets big on Lucknow: 500 local tech hires to power global AI innovation

Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) In a move set to redefine Uttar Pradesh's technology landscape, InMobi, a global leader in AI-powered technology, has established a new technology centre in Lucknow. The facility will serve as a deep-tech hub in North India, focusing on innovations in Generative AI, MLOps, automation, and large-scale AI infrastructure, while creating thousands of jobs in the region. The company plans to hire around 500 engineers, product specialists, and data scientists over the next few years for the Lucknow centre. Notably, these professionals will be recruited from Lucknow and surrounding districts, with candidates expected to be graduates of technical colleges and universities in the region. This expansion is projected to generate over 3,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing significantly to the state's economy. The initiative aligns with the Uttar Pradesh government's goal of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2029, positioning Lucknow as a rising hub for AI and innovation. 'At InMobi, we've always believed that great talent isn't confined to geography, it's driven by mindset, ambition, and opportunity,' said Mohit Saxena, co-founder and Group CTO, InMobi and Glance here on Wednesday. 'Over the past two decades, we've built world-class engineering teams out of Bangalore and San Francisco, two of the most respected tech hubs globally. Now, we're adding Lucknow to this league. It marks the beginning of a long-term movement to build a vibrant deep-tech ecosystem beyond the traditional metros. By investing in local talent, collaborating with academia, and building cutting-edge products for global markets from the heart of Uttar Pradesh, we are reshaping the innovation map of Bharat— and this is just the beginning,' he added. Addressing concerns about job losses due to artificial intelligence, Saxena dismissed recent claims of large-scale layoffs in top companies linked to AI adoption. He stated that 'AI has not been introduced now —it was there in India from earlier,' stressing that the technology, when implemented thoughtfully, creates new opportunities rather than eliminating them. Lucknow's proximity to top institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIIT Lucknow, IIM Lucknow, and MNNIT Allahabad provides a strong talent pipeline for the centre. InMobi intends to collaborate with local universities to offer hands-on product training, internships, and upskilling programmes tailored to industry needs, aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world innovation. 'Our presence in Lucknow is a testament to our belief that talent exists everywhere — and it's our responsibility to nurture it,' said Shefali Rai, Chief Human Resources Officer at InMobi and Glance. 'Our goal is to create a workplace where people don't have to leave their hometowns to build cutting-edge global products. By bringing InMobi's high-performance culture, inclusive ethos, and deep-tech opportunities to emerging talent hubs, we're enabling careers that are rooted locally but built for the world.' The Lucknow office forms part of InMobi's broader innovation roadmap and follows the company's $200 million AI investment announced earlier this year. This includes the launch of Glance AI, a next-generation AI commerce platform that integrates fashion, entertainment, shopping, and content to deliver personalised digital experiences. By decentralising its R&D footprint, InMobi aims to accelerate product innovation, foster inclusive growth, and strengthen India's global standing in AI and deep-tech. With Lucknow now part of its global innovation network, the company is positioning the city as a strategic centre for technology development that serves markets around the world. UNI XC-MBD SS

Is Sam Altman gearing up to take on Musk's Neuralink? Report says...

Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, is working to co-found a brain-to-computer interface startup called Merge Labs. If Merge Labs moves forward, it would mark Altman's bid to stake a claim in a field Musk has championed Musk, who left OpenAI after his failed attempt to take over the company in 2018, has long been critical of the firm. Image Credit: Reuters Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, is working to co-found a brain-to-computer interface startup called Merge Labs, according to the Financial Times. The venture is said to be seeking funding at a potential $850 million valuation, with some capital possibly coming from OpenAI's own ventures arm. Sources told TechCrunch that talks remain early and OpenAI has not committed to participating, meaning the terms could still change. Merge Labs is reportedly collaborating with Alex Blania, head of Tools for Humanity, the company behind Altman's iris-scanning digital ID project. The new company would compete directly with Elon Musk's Neuralink, which is developing brain implants to help people with severe paralysis control devices using thought alone. Neuralink, founded in 2016 and valued at $9 billion after a June fundraising round, is currently running human trials. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The concept of 'the merge'— humans integrating with technology— has long fascinated both Musk and Altman. In a 2017 blog post, Altman wrote that the merge 'has already begun' and predicted humans would become 'the first species ever to design our own descendants.' The idea predates Silicon Valley's current fixation on artificial general intelligence and ties back to earlier visions of 'the singularity.' The two tech leaders, once OpenAI co-founders, have since become open rivals. Musk left the organisation in 2018, and the relationship has soured, with the pair trading public barbs on X this week. If Merge Labs moves forward, it would mark Altman's bid to stake a claim in a field Musk has championed, and a new front in their escalating competition. Elon Musk vs Sam Altman Elon Musk and Sam Altman were once co-founders of OpenAI, but their relationship broke down after Musk left in 2018. Since then, they have become rivals, running competing AI companies: Musk's xAI and Altman's OpenAI. The feud has played out both in business and in public spats. Musk has criticised OpenAI's direction and tried to buy it back, while Altman has pushed ahead with commercial growth. This week, tensions escalated when Musk accused Apple of favouring OpenAI's ChatGPT in the App Store. Altman responded by accusing Musk of manipulating X to benefit his own ventures. Their rivalry now spans technology, influence, and personal reputation, with both positioning themselves as leaders in the race to shape the future of AI. With inputs from agencies

iPhone 17 Air in sky blue leaked: Video shows colour and size compared to iPhone 16 Pro

Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air is expected to be available in four colours, with Sky Blue appearing to be a likely favourite, according to a recently circulated dummy model video. Earlier this year, Apple introduced the M4 MacBook Air in Sky Blue, and the colour reportedly proved popular among users. The forthcoming iPhone 17 Air appears to follow a similar design approach, bringing back the shade for the smartphone line, noted 9To5Mac. A video shared by Majin Bu on X showcases a dummy model of the iPhone 17 Air in Sky Blue from multiple angles. The clip highlights the colour's versatility, which can appear almost white under certain lighting conditions but shows a more distinct blue hue under others. The video also includes a side-by-side comparison with the iPhone 16 Pro in Desert Titanium, offering viewers a sense of the 17 Air's slimmer profile. In terms of specifications, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature an A19 Pro processor with a reduced 5-core GPU configuration, according to Chinese tipster Fixed Focus Digital. Only the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro models are predicted to include the full 6-core GPU version. The source, who has previously shared accurate information about the device, suggested that the reduction in GPU cores could be related to chip binning or heat management in the thinner chassis. Reports indicate that the difference in everyday performance is unlikely to be noticeable to most users. These claims contrast with earlier predictions by industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who suggested that the iPhone 17 Air would run on a standard A19 chip, while Fixed Focus Digital maintains that the base iPhone 17 will also use the regular A19. The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to continue Apple's trend of producing thinner, lighter devices, with additional colour options aimed at appealing to consumer preferences.
