Harry and Meghan new Netflix deal - what is coming next?

It comes five years on from Harry and Meghan's first lucrative contract with the streaming giant, thought to be worth more than $100 million (£74 million).
Here is all to know about the current deal and the projects being worked on by the couple.
What is Harry and Meghan's new Netflix deal?
The new first-look deal means Netflix will have the first option on Harry and Meghan's projects.
The Sussexes described the deal as 'extending their creative partnership'.
Meghan said: 'We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand.
'My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally and celebrates our shared vision.'
While a representative for the Sussexes declined to comment on the financial arrangements of the deal, PR and crisis expert Mark Borkowski suggested the Sussexes would now be on a pay-as-you-go deal.
This means the couple would be paid for productions as and when they are selected by Netflix, rather than receiving an overall amount.
He added: 'I think Netflix has done a very neat job of pivoting away from two very expensive people who didn't deliver, and they've taken that deal off the table, and they've given them a modest one.

'It's not like they're gradually uncoupling. It's a downgrade.
"Netflix are not going to expose themselves to those budgets again and it's Netflix saying 'Well, look, let's have a look at your content, but we'll pick and choose, mate'.'
So far, the Sussexes' most successful series has been Harry & Meghan – their controversial 2022 documentary about stepping back from royal duties and their struggles with the Royal Family.
It totalled more than 23 million views and is Netflix's fifth most popular documentary series ever.
What Netflix projects have Harry and Meghan got coming up?
Following the new deal with Netflix, here is what to expect from the couple on the platform in the coming months:
With Love, Meghan – Season 2
The first series of With Love, Meghan premiered on Netflix in March earlier this year.
The second instalment is due to air later this month.
Netflix said: 'Meghan returns with a fun and heartwarming new season, welcoming celebrity chefs, talented artists, and beloved friends for hands-on adventures filled with laughter and discovery.'
It promises 'playful cooking challenges' and 'DIY projects', adding: 'Meghan and her guests explore bold flavours, experiment with new techniques, and discover simple ways to add beauty to everyday life.'
With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration
Following the release of the second series, a Christmas special is planned at the end of the year.
Netflix has said viewers will 'join Meghan in Montecito for a magical holiday celebration'.
It adds: 'Together, friends and family deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs – with simple how-tos to follow at home.
'It's a holiday wonder with warmth, tradition, and a generous dose of joy.'
The Sussexes used to spend Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham but Harry and Meghan have not done so since 2018, having moved to the US five years ago.
Meet Me At The Lake
This 'romance feature' will be an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Carley Fortune.
While no date has been announced for the project, Netflix says 'this romantic drama follows a decade-spanning love story that begins with a chance encounter and a broken promise".
The story deals with mental health, postnatal depression and childhood trauma over losing a parent in a car crash, with some of the themes said to have similarities with Harry and Meghan's own experience.
Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within
This new documentary, of which Harry and Meghan are listed among the producers, will focus on a tiny orphanage in Uganda which was born out of the HIV/Aids crisis.
The Duke only recently stepped down from Sentebale, the charity he founded nearly 20 years ago to help children orphaned by Aids in Lesotho, following a boardroom battle with its chairwoman.
Harry, who was left devastated by the development and who is considering starting a new humanitarian charity, vowed to continue his commitment to supporting youngsters in the region.
It is not known whether Harry and Meghan will feature in the documentary, with it set to air later this year.
Future projects
There are also some future, unknown projects, yet to be revealed.
Archewell Productions, which was founded in 2020 by Prince Harry and Meghan, says it is 'in active development on additional projects with Netflix that span a variety of content genres'.

Are Harry and Meghan still in the Royal Family?
As of 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working members of the Royal Family.
An agreement was later announced whereby the couple would "no longer be working members of Britain's royal family", and would not use their "Royal Highness" styles.

Despite this, Harry remains a prince and is fifth in line to the British throne.
The couple married in St George's Chapel in Windsor on May 19, 2018 and have two children, Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
Harry is estranged from his brother, the Prince of Wales, after a fallout and has a troubled relationship with his father, the King.

Meghan Markle admits hilarious reason why she 'almost didn't marry' Prince Harry in Netflix trailer

Meghan Markle has released the trailer for her upcoming second season of Netflix show With Love, Meghan and it seems there are plenty of royal confessions coming in the new show. Meghan Markle fans are delighted to have finally received a trailer for the second season of the duchess' Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The 44-year-old's lifestyle and cooking series has shown a new side to the former Suits star as she has proven herself to be very talented in the kitchen. ‌ In the upcoming series, it looks as if we're going to get more of an inside look into the royal household as the trailer features Meghan revealing a little-known fact. Towards the end of the trailer, when the Duchess of Sussex is preparing lobster with chef José Andrés, she explains that husband Prince Harry is not a fan of the fancy crustacean, which is typically a pricey meal. ‌ She turns to the foodie expert and says "You know who doesn't like lobster? My husband." The chef is left stunned by her admission as he asks: 'And you married him?', leaving Meghan in fits of laughter in response. ‌ It's previously been reported that Royal Family members tend to avoid eating seafood, which may have influenced Prince Harry's dislike for lobster. Former royal butler Grant Harrold told the Daily Express in 2022: "When dining, the Royal Family has to be careful with shellfish due to shellfish poisoning due to their work schedules. "Therefore, you will not normally find this on the royal menu." The mum-of-two, who currently resides in Montecito with Harry and kids Archie and Lilibet, is set to welcome more celebrity pals into her kitchen in the second season of her Netflix show. ‌ Some of the famous faces who are expected to be getting their hands dirty alongside the duchess include Chrissy Teigen, Queer Eye star Tan France and author and podcaster, Jay Shetty, Cosmopolitan reports. With Love, Meghan is set to return for its second season on the streaming platform on August 26. Meghan announced the news on Instagram to her 4M Instagram followers on Wednesday evening as she dropped the new trailer and wrote: "The best moments are made to be shared. With Love, Meghan returns August 26th on Netflix." ‌ The show is just one programme amidst Harry and Meghan's lucrative deal with Netflix, which started in 2020. The Sussexes are also said to be gearing up to produce an on-screen adaptation of the best-selling novel Meet Me at the Lake by Carly Fortune. However, this has been known for quite some time and there is still no release date in sight. ‌ Harry and Meghan have also previously broadcasted their tell-all documentary Harry and Meghan, as well as their show Polo. Commenting on the new slate of shows they have in the works, Meghan said: 'My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision." Bela Bajaria, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, said: 'Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere. The response to their work speaks for itself — Harry & Meghan gave viewers an intimate look into their lives and quickly became one of our most-watched documentary series. 'More recently, fans have been inspired by With Love, Meghan, with products from the new As Ever line consistently selling out in record time.
