Parking norms eased in industrial areas to boost biz
Vijayawada: In a major push to boost industrial growth, the state government on Monday unveiled sweeping policy reforms aimed at easing business operations and rationalizing parking norms in industrial areas. The move is expected to cut compliance burdens, spur deregulation and accelerate investment, particularly benefiting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Announcing the reforms, principal secretary, municipal administration and urban development, S Suresh Kumar said the changes will remove long-standing bottlenecks that have driven up operational costs and slowed production. 'By systematically deregulating and rationalizing these norms, Andhra Pradesh is setting a new benchmark for investor-friendly policies,' he said. As part of the overhaul, the mandatory parking allocation in industrial areas has been reduced from 20 per cent to 10 per cent, nbringing the state's regulations in line with Telangana's for standalone industrial units. Officials say this will make Andhra Pradesh more competitive while optimizing the use of valuable industrial land. The government has also introduced shared parking solutions for layouts approved by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). Under the new directive, pooled parking facilities will be centrally managed at the layout planning stage, eliminating the need for each unit to provide individual parking if shared infrastructure is adequate. This is expected to free up more land for core industrial activities and reduce business overheads. Other key measures include reducing side and rear setbacks, scrapping minimum plot size requirements for industrial purposes, and easing height restrictions. These changes are designed to curb land wastage, promote vertical development where feasible, and make industrial plots more efficient. The reforms stem from a detailed study of parking norms across states and an analysis of development control regulations by the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DT&CP). They also align with the Centre's Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) 2025-26, which calls for rationalized parking norms to spur industrial and commercial growth. 'These initiatives form part of a larger strategy to systematically deregulate across 23 priority areas identified for states,' Suresh Kumar said, adding that the ultimate goal is to create an enabling environment for MSMEs and drive Andhra Pradesh's economic expansion.

Andhra Pradesh eases industrial norms, halves parking mandate to woo investors
The Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled sweeping reforms to industrial regulations, cutting parking requirements and relaxing land-use norms to improve ease of doing business and attract fresh investments. S. Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, said the State has halved the parking mandate for industrial areas from 20% to 10%, bringing it in line with Telangana's norms for standalone industrial units. For layouts approved by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), parking will be provided through common pooled facilities at the planning stage, eliminating the need for individual units to create separate parking if shared capacity is adequate. Other key changes include reducing side and rear setbacks, scrapping minimum plot size requirements for industrial purposes, and relaxing or removing height restrictions to encourage vertical construction. Officials said these measures aim to optimise land use, lower compliance costs, and remove bottlenecks that have hindered production, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The reforms follow a comparative study of parking norms in other States and align with the Centre's 'Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2025-26,' which encourages rationalised norms for industrial and commercial projects.

AP high court declines stay on land allotment to TCS in Vizag
Vijayawada: The high court on Wednesday declined to stay the allotment of land to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Visakhapatnam. The court observed that many states are allotting lands to companies at nominal prices in a bid to attract investments and asked the petitioner what was wrong if Andhra Pradesh also followed the same procedure. However, the high court said that the allotment will be subject to the final outcome of the petition. Nakka Nammi Grace, Visakhapatnam district president of the Society for Protection of Civil Property and Environmental Rights, moved the high court with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition contending that the govt is allotting land to TCS in contravention of APIIC guidelines. Arguing on behalf of the petitioner, Jada Sravan Kumar told the high court that the petitioner has no objection to allotting land to TCS, but the govt is giving away 21.16 acres of land worth 529 crore at 0.99 per acre, which is in violation of rules framed under the land allotment policy by APIIC. He said that the state govt is likely to execute registered sale deeds in favour of TCS. Once the sale deeds are executed, the govt will lose its rights over the land and cannot take the land back even if TCS does not make investments and create jobs as promised. Arguing on behalf of the state govt, special govt pleader S Pranathi said that the land is not being sold to TCS but is being allotted on a lease basis. She sought time to file a counter affidavit with all details. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No More Belly Fat! As the development of Andhra Pradesh is in the very beginning stages, it is not that important at what price the land is being allotted to a prominent company like TCS, which is investing 1,370 crore and promised to give employment to 12,000 people, said the bench. The high court further noted that as the state govt is claiming that the land is being given on a lease basis only, it cannot give any interim directions to stay the procedure. Directing the state govt to file a counter affidavit, the high court posted the matter for further hearing after four weeks and clarified that the land allotment will be subject to the final outcome of the petition.
