Who Replaces Landon Dickerson? Six Eagles Options Including Jason Kelce Comeback

Matt Pryor
Matt Pryor returned to Philadelphia after starting 15 games for the Chicago Bears last season. Pryor was rated the 31st best guard in the NFL by Pro Football Focus in 2024, including an impressive eighth in pass blocking, though he ranked 52nd in run blocking. The Eagles drafted Pryor in the sixth round of the 2018 draft. He has started 39 games across six seasons with four different teams.
Brett Toth
Brett Toth is officially listed as Dickerson's backup but lacks Pryor's experience. Toth made the Eagles' 2020 roster as an undrafted free agent, appearing in six games with one start. He made one additional start during his career with the Carolina Panthers in 2023 before returning to Philadelphia last year.
Kenyon Green
The Eagles acquired former first-round pick Kenyon Green from the Houston Texans as part of the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade. Green never lived up to his potential with Houston, missing all of 2023 with a shoulder injury. He was rated poorly by Pro Football Focus, ranking 132nd out of 136 guards in 2024. If anyone can resurrect his career, it's Philadelphia's offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland.
Trevor Keegan
Another internal candidate is 24-year-old Trevor Keegan, a fifth-round pick out of Michigan in 2024. He appeared in one game last year — the season finale against the New York Giants. Keegan stands 6-foot-5 and 306 pounds.
Cole Strange
If the Eagles look outside the organization, New England Patriots offensive lineman Cole Strange could be a target. He appears on the roster bubble after being a first-round pick in 2022 under the Bill Belichick regime, and his time in New England may be ending. Strange suffered a torn patellar tendon in 2023 and played only three games last year after starting the season on the physically unable to perform list. He could be acquired for a Day 3 pick, and under Stoutland's guidance, there's a chance he could fulfill his first-round potential.
Jason Kelce
Imagine Jason Kelce unretiring because of Dickerson's injury, sliding back to center while Cam Jurgens moves to left guard, leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl repeat? It's wholly unlikely Kelce would return given his lucrative podcast and ESPN deals, but it's fun to consider. He has been helping offensive linemen at training camp, sharing his Hall of Fame knowledge. Could he suit up one last time? Stranger things have happened.

So where does he think Jalen Hurts falls? "Some quarterbacks in this league are Taylor Swift," Cowherd, the host of FOX Sports' "The Herd," said. "They're leading the entire tour. Most quarterbacks in this league are the Spice Girls. They're part of an ensemble. Jalen Hurts is part of an ensemble." Essentially, Cowherd is claiming that Hurts is a cog that helps the Philadelphia Eagles win, rather than the head of the snake, carrying them to victory. It's not necessarily a knock on Hurts, who was good enough to help the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX, but more of a criticism of the way fans perceive his greatness. "Fans view quarterbacks based on winning," Cowherd said. Hurts has done that at the highest level. But, he doesn't have the individual talent that positional counterparts such as Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson possess. ADVERTISEMENT In fact, the Eagles went on a nine-game winning streak during the regular-season, and a Super-Bowl-winning postseason run because they took the ball out of Hurts' hand. "Last year, in the bye week, the people who know him best said, 'You know, we'd be better off throwing less,'" Cowherd said. "That's a tell.'" That resulted in the Eagles having the lowest pass-rate in the NFL (43.7%). They ended the 2024 season with 448 pass attempts to 621 rush attempts. Cowherd is basically stating that the fans' perception of Hurts is inconsistent with his actual individual talent. And that notion was backed up in a recent survey that The Athletic conducted of NFL executives. After questioning 50 front-office members, Hurts was placed in the second-tier of quarterbacks, tied for ninth with Houston Texans' starter C.J. Stroud. In fact, only three of the 50 executives had him ranked in Tier 1. "This is not a knock on Jalen Hurts," Cowherd said. NFL Network's Scott Hanson open to hosting college football version of NFL RedZone
College football fans have held out hope for an NFL-like RedZone since it was announced ESPN would acquire the NFL Network and the RedZone Channel on Aug. 5. NFL RedZone brings football fans seven hours of uninterrupted coverage of redzone attempts and scores across the NFL every Sunday during the NFL regular season. NFL RedZone has been a wild success for the NFL Network, with Scott Hanson bringing in viewers each week. Hanson suggested he would be open to hosting a College RedZone. "There's a lot of dynamics," Hanson said. "If you were to do college football redzone, first of all, ESPN doesn't have rights to every contract. Second of all, the kickoffs are not all synchronized. Yeah, you get a good batch kicking off at noon Eastern, but they are not all synchronized; they come at different times. The games go throughout the day. "But here's the other thing, if your favorite team is the New York Giants, fine, you know the New York Giants. You can probably still name the other 31 starting quarterbacks in the NFL. If your favorite team is the Alabama Crimson Tide, you know the Alabama Crimson Tide, but you cannot name me 30 other quarterbacks in college football. "You might be able to name the rest of the SEC, maybe, or some of the bigger opponents. So, college is not as accessible to the frontal lobe of the American sports fans as it is in the NFL."

Jamal Adams embracing move to weakside linebacker
Jamal Adams was a Pro Bowl safety for Pete Carroll in Seattle, but when Adams signed with Carroll's Raiders in July, the head coach had some news for Adams. 'He straight up told me, 'You're going to be in the linebacker room, so get over it,'' Adams said with a laugh, via Levi Edwards of the team website. 'So I was just like, 'Alright, shit, let's do it.'' Adams had never been a full-time linebacker, not even in Pop Warner, before joining the Raiders. The transition hasn't been a problem. 'Obviously I'm just a football player, man,' Adams said. 'See ball, get ball.' Adams is listed as the backup weakside linebacker to Germaine Pratt, so he is fighting for not only a roster spot but playing time. He played 15 snaps in the preseason opener against the Seahawks. 'He's always been so instinctive and so aggressive and such a run-through guy, been a fantastic blitzer over his time,' Carroll said. 'So, I want to put him in position to do that. He's jumped right into the WILL spot, and that gives us some flexibility that we're going to grow with. He looks really good.' Adams has played only 15 games the past three seasons, missing time with a torn labrum, torn quad tendon and a hip injury.
