Hollywood star George Clooney fired back when he was ambushed by a reporter from Fox News outside a New York City theatre.
The Oceans 11 star is currently appearing in the play Good Night and Good Luck, adapted from his film and screenplay of the same name.
As he signed autographs for fans, Clooney, 64, was approached by Fox News anchor Johnny Belisario.
The journalist took the opportunity to derail the actor's entrance with questions over his July 2024 op-ed in which he called for Joe Biden to step down from re-election and be replaced with another Democratic candidate.
Batman & Robin star and lifelong Democrat Clooney had previously supported Biden throughout his presidency and campaign for re-election, even headlining a record-breaking fundraiser weeks prior.
Noting that he still loved and supported Biden, Clooney wrote: 'But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can.'
Questioning Clooney over the op-ed, Belisario asked: 'Why did you wait so long to speak about Biden's condition?'
A smiling Clooney quipped back: 'Oh, hi man. Are you recording us now? Say hi to Jesse for me,' in reference to Jesse Watters, who aired the exchange during his Primetime show last week.
'I'm a huge fan,' he added, sarcastically.
'You're a huge fan? He likes what you did with your hair, George,' Belisario replied, poking fun at the dyed black hair Clooney wears for his role in the play as CBS News president Fred W. Friendly.
He then asked whether he felt as though he had been 'used' by former President Barack Obama to take down Biden.
'Why are you so nervous? You're shaking. Literally, he's shaking,' Clooney hit back.
Belisario later posted the footage to his own Instagram account, with the caption: 'I was not shaking, George!'
This is not the first time Belisario's attempts to stir up an emotional response have backfired, following his 2023 trip to Seattle, in which he attempted to show how 'crimes and drugs are now expectations in Dem (ocratic) cities'.
However, his trip to the so-called 'democratic hellscape' was left lacking its, well, hellscape, after residents shrugged off his attempts at fearmongering.
'I've never seen any crime in Seattle,' one man declared.
'I've never seen any of it. I've seen fun and laughter [instead].'
Another woman looked distrustful and told Johnny: 'I don't believe that number.'
As for Clooney, the Hollywood star became something of a scapegoat in the wake of Donald Trump's re-election, with many blaming him for negatively influencing the election. More Trending
However, he has stood by the decision, telling Daily Beast: 'It was a civic duty. I'm a Democrat in Kentucky – when I saw people on my side of the street not telling the truth, I thought that was time [to say something].
'Some people are mad, sure. But that's okay, you know. Listen, the idea of freedom of speech is you can't demand freedom of speech and then say, 'But don't say bad things about me'.'
He continued: 'That's the deal, you have to take your stand if you believe in it. Take a stand, stand for it and then deal with the consequences. That's the rules.

Sunbed Wars arrive in Benidorm after holidaymakers 'stampede' for best loungers

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page Summer is in swing – and so are battles for the best sun loungers in Brit holiday hotspots. The hotel used to film the TV show Benidorm is no exception – holidaymakers were seen queuing for up to two hours to get the best loungers. Scenes at the fictitious Solana Hotel from the ITV series were recorded at the Sol Pelícanos Ocas in Benidorm, Spain. Guest Louise Smith was shocked to see tourists standing in line for the best sunbathing spots, but the 'stampede' which followed was worse. She filmed a huge wave of sunbathers racing to the pool the second it opened. Despite having a large pool area, the eager guests could be seen racing to their desired beds after workers lifted the ropes. A wave of tourists were seen scrambling for the best sun loungers (Picture: Jam Press) Louise filmed from her balcony, and said after: 'Mick would definitely have a few choice words for them. I don't think any of the characters would approve. 'People started queuing from 7:30 am. I think it's ridiculous. You go on holiday to relax, not to wake up super early to claim a sunbed.' Other Brits were appaled by the behaviour. Kelly-Ann Wass said: 'I've been here for a week and gone down at 10 am and always managed to get a bed.' Jay added: 'Wouldn't call that a relaxing holiday fighting for sunbeds.' Days ago, holidaymakers managed to foil the plan of fellow Brits to secure sunbeds seven hours before their hotel pool opened. Whilst enjoying a late-night chat on their balcony, Mandy Boyd and her mates spotted some men she thought were taking a cheeky dip in the pool. However, on further inspection, the 34-year-old noticed the young men were attempting to secure the best beds at 2 am – seven hours before the pool opened. The group of four girls watched on as the men pulled out their sun loungers to try and secure the best spots. Mandy and her friends quietly waited on the balcony for the perfect moment to run down and take the towels. Coronation Street star Gareth Pierce ‘so sad' as he addresses exit of show icon

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Coronation Street is set to say goodbye to a legend in tonight's episode as Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) leaves the cobbles behind after 25 years. When I caught up with Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw in the ITV soap, at the British Soap Awards last weekend, he opened up about Sue's departure, telling me it was 'so sad'. 'We're hugely going to miss Sue,' he admitted. 'She's brilliant. Eileen is such an iconic character. 'But I think she's also a brilliantly equipped actress to see what else is out there. I think it's been a burning desire of Sue's for a while. I think she'll be brilliant in whatever she does.' Gareth clearly has fond memories of the actress, as he shared how welcoming she was during his audition process. 'Sue's amazing and she really welcomed me in, as well. I screen-tested with Sue as well as with Dan Brocklebank and Peter Ash when I was coming in and that was probably one of the things that got me the job was that they both treated it as we were just filming those scenes by that stage. 'I was so lucky that Sue was so generous that we fell into the mother/son dynamic very easily. That's testament to her as much as anything that I did.' As well as Eileen's exit, Gareth has promised 'lots to come' for Todd in the coming weeks. Viewers have seen him find love with Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) this year – though that has come with some obstacles. More Trending 'There's baggage that comes with Theo and that's already becoming apparent,' Gareth pointed out. 'The small matter of being married, the small matter of having two kids. There's been already some obstacles, even prior to finding out about the conversion therapy stuff. 'That's the thing, the stakes are quite high immediately because of what Theo is potentially giving up for the relationship, but also because of what Todd is putting on the relationship as well. The stakes are high for Todd because he actually really wants this one to work. There's lots to come.' View More » Will Todd and Theo's relationship work out, or is Todd set for further heartbreak? Inside Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan's life with fellow soap actor siblings

Amelia Flanagan is one of Emmerdale's most-popular young performers, celebrated for her role as April Windsor. She instantly became a hit among viewers, and recently won the award for Best Young Performer at this year's British Soap Awards. The character is still trying to readapt to her life in the village after spending six weeks living rough in Leeds. April disappeared from her home last Christmas. She endured a life-changing ordeal while homeless, and also gave birth to a stillborn baby girl. The character is hugely loved by fans, but did you know Amelia is the sister of two Corrie stars? Amelia, who is now 17, is the older sibling of Isabella and William Flanagan, who play Hope Dobbs and Joseph Brown in Coronation Street. Isabella took over the role from twins Faith and Nicole Holt in August 2017, whilst her twin brother Will first appeared as Joseph, the then-estranged son of Chesney Winter-Brown (Sam Aston) in the following October. Amelia was overjoyed this week as she picked up the British Soap Award for Best Young Performer. Prior to being given the gong, she spoke to Metro about her life in soapland, including whether there is any sense of rivalry between her, William and Isabella. 'I don't think so. We're so pleased for each other if either of us won, if it was lucky enough to go that way. I think mainly it's so exciting that we're all here as a family, because it's the first awards we've been together as a full family. It's very exciting.' The trio live with their dad Chris, a TK Maxx store manager, and mum Rachel in Yorkshire. Amelia joined the soap in 2014 and is the only actress to play April. The character is the daughter of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and stepdaughter to Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry). Earlier this year, as part of April's storyline, she featured in an episode that revealed what she went through while on the streets. More Trending 'We had an amazing team for the entire thing, I'm very proud of how we did it. It was an amazing shoot. It was so different, because it was a single episode and we shot it on different cameras in different locations. 'We just had so much fun doing it and it was honestly one of the best moments of my career and I loved every minute of it. Seeing how much of a positive response it's had means a lot and it's incredible to hear.' View More » This article was originally published on March 12, 2024.
