Samsung just announced early Galaxy S25 FE launch — confirms new tri-fold is coming this year

Tom's Guide31-07-2025
Anyone waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is in for a treat, as the company has revealed an expedited timeline for the launch. While the executives didn't reveal a launch date, Daniel Araujo, VP of Samsung's Mobile Experience division, did say it would launch early.
"For the Galaxy S25 series, we will focus on maintaining sales momentum with seasonal promotions as well as an earlier launch of the S25 FE," Araujo said to investors during an earnings call (via Android Authority).
In the case of the Galaxy S24 FE, Samsung released the phone in October. Considering we're almost in August, the phone would have to come out later this month or next month to be considered "earlier."
And it's not just the Galaxy S25 FE that Samsung spoke about. Samsung plans to reveal several other high-profile devices in the second half of 2025. It even called out the tri-fold — a highly anticipated device that could bring the new form factor to a more mainstream audience. Of course, we expect that device to be prohibitively expensive, so it might not penetrate the market that quickly.
The company hasn't forgotten its XR headset yet, either. Araujo mentioned that it plans to drop its long-anticipated Project Moohan XR headset later this year.
Samsung has a strong lineup for the back half of 2025 if all of these devices launch. There's no reason to think the Galaxy S25 FE would be delayed, but given how long we've been waiting for the tri-fold and Project Moohan XR headset, it's a case of 'I'll believe it when I see it.'
If they all come out — plus the teased budget-friendly A-series phones — Samsung could be in for a great year. And let's not forget that the company just launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.

And once 2025 is in the rearview mirror, Samsung still has the Galaxy S26 series of phones coming in 2026 — we expect big things from these devices.

I'm going to be extremely upset if the Pixel 10 doesn't launch with this accessory — here's why

As someone who has been complaining about the lack of Qi2 on Android for what feels like years, the Pixel 10 rumors have been absolutely thrilling. Not only is Qi2 reportedly coming to the Pixel 10 series, word is that it won't be the stripped-down magnet-free version employed by the Galaxy S25 series. The best part of the rumor might just be the fact that Google could also launch its own range of "PixelSnap" magnetic accessories for the Pixel 10. Accessories that could include the one thing I desperately want — a magnetic charging stand. Considering that the Pixel Stand 2 changed my opinion on wireless charging, the prospect of having a 3rd generation—complete with faster charging and magnetism—is one that I am very excited about. The Pixel Stand 2 is a great wireless charger. Not only does it offer wireless charging speeds up to 23W for compatible phones, and cooling fans in the back to avoid heat build-up, it can also activate a special "Stand Mode." This effectively turns your Pixel into a miniature Nest Hub as soon as you place your phone on the charger. This gives users the ability to control Google Home devices, control media playback without unlocking the phone and see an ever-changing slideshow of Google Photos albums. The problem with Pixel Stand 2 is that it has been somewhat stagnant for the past four years since its release. Despite running with a 30W charger, wireless charging speeds have been capped at 23W, and the Stand itself was clearly only designed for Pixel phones in mind. Other phones will wirelessly charge on the Pixel Stand 2, but others have trouble. The iPhone 15 Pro Max I keep on my desk is a great example, since the wireless charging coils are so out of alignment that the two will not work together without help. I have to raise the phone, usually with a pen, to actually get power into the phone — and it's often too fiddly and unstable to bother with. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Obviously, there's a limit to what you can do with a charging stand that turns your phone into a mini smart home hub. It's not like a pad where you can position your phone more freely, and it has been built specifically for Pixel phones. Other manufacturers' devices will obviously be a much lower priority. Because not everyone out there tests phones for a living, and it's rare to find someone with more handsets than fingers. Still, considering Pixel Stand 2 was discontinued last year, and is much harder to buy, it's about time Google released something to replace it. Even if it's only to offer faster wireless charging for Pixel owners. Should we get a Qi2 Pixel Stand, whether it's called PixelSnap Stand or Pixel Stand 3, it could make a big change. Not just in terms of offering a better and faster wireless charging experience for Pixel phones, but also in how it works with other devices. The whole point of Qi2 is to improve the standard of basic wireless charging, without needing a manufacturer-specific system to reach those higher speeds. With the release of Qi2.2 earlier this year, that speed has increased to 25W. Considering that's already ahead of the current 23W cap on Pixel phones, that leaves room for Google to offer significantly faster speeds on its own devices. Because there needs to be a good selling point to keep people from simply buying third-party chargers. The magnets also ensure you get perfect coil alignment. That improves efficiency, reduces heat build-up, and makes for an overall better and faster charging experience. Plus, if Qi2 magnets are as powerful as MagSafe, it will keep your phone locked firmly in place until you need to. And since those magnets have that grip, there's a lot more freedom in how you position the phone. This is beneficial for non-Google phones and any future Pixel designs that may deviate from the current norm. Like some kind of unreleased foldable phone, or even larger if the Nest hub features are retained, you could incorporate it into a future version of the Pixel tablet. Who needs a Nest Hub now? A new Pixel Stand wireless charger is not going to change the world. But should Google end up adding Qi2 to the Pixel 10 lineup, it would be crazy not to release a third-generation model to take advantage of all those changes. Even if there aren't any other PixelSnap accessories, as rumored, the least Google can do is up the ante on wireless charging. My only question is, how much will such a charger inevitably cost? The Pixel Stand 2 was $79 at full price, and that was always something that put me off buying one — especially given my previous misgivings about wireless charging. Here's hoping it's not too ridiculous a price, especially given rumors that the Pixel 10 Pro XL may up its starting price by scrapping the 128GB storage option. Still, even if it is comparable to the second-generation charger, if I bought a Pixel 10, I'd probably be tempted to pick up a PixelSnap charger alongside it.

This is a steal! Walmart just slashed this 75-inch Samsung The Frame by $1,200

Walmart's got some exciting TV deals right now, wrangling even some of our favorite Samsung models. If you're big on keeping your living room looking like the inside of a museum, this deal is perfect for you — especially if you like big screen TVs. Right now, you can get the 75-inch Samsung The Frame QLED TV for $1,779 at Walmart. That's over $1,200 slashed on one of sleekest art TVs available, gifting you a display that works even when the TV is turned off. Samsung's The Frame TV 2024 just received its first price cut. The QLED TV features an art mode that displays your favorite artwork, shows, movies, and more. The 2024 model features a new dynamic refresh mode, which kicks down the refresh rate of the TV when in it's in art mode (to save on energy). In our Samsung The Frame (2024) hands-on, we said the TV looks great in art mode and we also liked that the Samsung Art Store now offers a monthly curation of artwork users can display for free. The TV also features HDR10 Plus support, 120Hz refresh rate, built-in Amazon Alexa, Samsung's Tizen operating system, and four HDMI 2.1 ports. Art TVs are turning out to be all the rave right now, with many major brands copying Samsung's style. Samsung first launched its Frame concept all the way back in 2017 and since then it's sparked a revolution in the TV market with tons of similar models. You rarely ever see Samsung's The Frame marked down, largely because it's so popular. It's rated as one of our best Samsung TVs for a reason, and while it might have been one-upped by The Frame Pro this year, the base Frame is still a stellar offering with its matte display and interchangeable frames. What I love about the Frame, beyond its sourcing of several thousand art pieces, is its wide selection of features. Although it's built on a 120Hz refresh rate, that makes it more than adequate for gamers, and its matte finish means reflections are well-mitigated, unlike other QLED TVs. It also comes equipped with an ATSC 3.0 tuner, which means you can watch 4K broadcasts through NextgenTV. That's pretty handy if you're trying not to rely on some of the best streaming services for all your entertainment needs. Few TVs these days are offering an ATSC 3.0 tuner, so it's a handy addition for those who want it. Despite its size, the Frame also packs a hefty punch in the audio department. It's kitted with a 40W speaker system, which is pretty hefty for this kind of TV. You might still want to get yourself one of the best sundbars, just for the sake of improved immersion, but the onboard speakers do well enough. You can't go wrong a Samsung TV, especially one that's 75-inch and nearly half the price. We have sung the praises of the Samsung The Frame over the last several years, even though it's a rather niche market. But, who doesn't want to have an ever-changing display as their main TV, one that can spruce up your living room like you're living in the Louvre?

Google Gemini just closed the gap by adding 'ChatGPT' features — here's how they work

Google is rolling out a set of updates to Gemini aimed at making the AI assistant feel more personalized while putting stronger privacy controls in users' hands. The new features include chat personalization that allows Gemini to remember details from your past conversations (similar to ChatGPT's memory feature) and tailor its responses accordingly, a Temporary Chat mode for one-off interactions that won't affect future recommendations (also similar to ChatGPT) and updated data settings that make it easier to manage what information is stored and how it's used. Together, these changes are designed to create a more relevant, proactive experience without sacrificing user choice over data and privacy. A new Personal context setting allows Gemini to learn from your previous conversations to deliver more relevant and natural responses. With this feature enabled, the AI can use details from earlier chats, such as your hobbies, past projects, or favorite topics, to shape future suggestions without requiring you to restate them. This personalization is turned on by default and is rolling out first to the 2.5 Pro model for consumer accounts in select countries, with expansion to the 2.5 Flash model and additional regions in the coming weeks. Users can disable it at any time in the app's settings. For those who want to interact with Gemini without affecting future recommendations, Temporary Chat offers a way to start single-use conversations. These chats won't appear in recent history or Gemini Apps Activity, and won't be used to personalize the experience or train Google's AI models. They're stored for up to 72 hours to allow for responses and optional feedback. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The feature starts rolling out today and will reach all users in the coming weeks. Google is also renaming its 'Gemini Apps Activity' setting to Keep Activity. When enabled, a sample of future uploads, such as files or photos, can be used to improve Google services and train AI models. Users who prefer not to participate can turn the setting off or use Temporary Chats. Additionally, a new control introduced earlier this month lets people decide whether audio, video, and screen shares from the mic button or Gemini Live can be used to improve Google services. This is off by default but can be switched on at any time. These updates bring Gemini closer to Google's goal of making it a more personal, proactive and powerful assistant by allowing the AI to adapt more naturally to each user's preferences and communication style. At the same time, the introduction of Temporary Chat and the revamped data settings give users greater transparency and control over what information is stored and how it's used. The new tools are designed to support both approaches, striking a balance between personalization and user choice.
