A growing number of social media users have pointed out the uncanny visual similarities between posters of recent Hindi film releases — Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara, Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's Dhadak 2, and National Award winner Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor's Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, among others.
From the framing of romantic leads where they stick their foreheads together to almost-identical backdrops and poses, netizens have taken to platforms like X and Instagram to share side-by-side comparisons, calling out what they describe as a 'copy-paste' trend in Bollywood poster design. A user circulated the similar-looking posters of Bollywood's recent slate of films and Reddit was quick to comment. First, watch a video here:
An Internet user shared a poster of Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani's Satyaprem Ki Katha and compared it to Saiyaara poster. The netizen wrote, 'Saiyara is also very close to this. The colour scheme is too similar." Yet another compared it to Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar. Another argued, 'I mean how much innovation do you want for romantic films? There will only be select few poses." 'Everyone is doing this in their shadi pics too!", quipped a fan.
Other arguments included some defending the aesthetic overlap as a popular industry style, while others urged designers to bring back originality and creative risk-taking in visual marketing.
Meanwhile, YRF's Saiyaara has been a rage with its storytelling, cast and songs. The film has gone on to become one of the most profitable projects of 2025, amassing a box office collection of over Rs 300 crore worldwide.
As for Dhadak 2, the film starring Siddhanth and Triptii started slow at the box office. The film clashed with Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2, a franchise with a loyal fanbase. On Day 1, Son of Sardaar 2 raked in an impressive Rs 6.75 crore, comfortably surpassing the day 1 earnings of Dhadak 2, which managed Rs 3.35 crore.
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, starring Vikrant and Shanaya, opened with a strong buzz. However, the film underperformed at the box office, earning Rs 1.61 crore.
