Man facing manslaughter, DWI charges in connection with wrong-way 50 Highway crash
Peter E. Goss of Mission Hills, Kansas, has been charged with one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter, one count of DWI resulting in death and one count of driving the wrong direction on a highway, resulting in an accident.

, just before 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, a 45-year-old man, later identified as Goss, was driving a Chevrolet Suburban on the wrong side of 50 Highway in Johnson County, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Goss crashed head-on into a Subaru Legacy, driven by 65-year-old Kevin Wilson of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
When emergency responders arrived, court records say Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene, and Goss was found trapped inside his Chevrolet, which had rolled onto its passenger side.
After Goss was rescued from the Chevrolet, court records say he was given a preliminary breathalizer test, which came back as a 0.160%—twice the legal blood alcohol content level.
He was subsequently taken to a hospital for his injuries and arrested on suspicion of felony DWI involving the death of another, driving in the wrong direction of a divided highway, and imprudent driving involving an accident.
While at the hospital, Goss was asked to take a chemical blood test by state troopers, but he refused and requested an attorney, court records say.
Jackson County courts then granted troopers a search warrant, and Goss was ordered to take the test. Court documents say the blood sample was taken back to the MSHP Crime Laboratory for analysis, but as of June 2025, the results have not been released.
Goss has since been formally charged in a Johnson County District Court, and according to his attorney, J.R. Hobbs, he has posted bond and 'complied with the pretrial release conditions set by the court.'
Additionally, Goss' attorney added that his first court appearance is scheduled for early July.

Pedestrian killed in Jeff Davis crash
Associated Press Archives A 38-year-old pedestrian was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash on La. 26 near Trailer Town Road in Jeff Davis Parish. Louisiana State Police Trooper Matt Gaspard said the crash claimed the life of Cody Moore of Jennings. Gaspard said troopers responded to the crash just before before 1 a.m. He said Moore has been walking in the northbound lane of La. 26. At the same time, a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was also traveling north on La. 26. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet struck Moore, Gaspard said. Moore received fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Silverado was unrestrained at the time of the crash but was uninjured. Standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
