Scary stats show two in five Brits believe doom-scrolling is self-care
Scrolling through TikTok, Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), and other social media platforms is even considered a form of self-care by 38% of Brits, according to a new study.
Brits have seemingly forgotten how to treat themselves, even though a massive 97% of people agree that taking time out is essential for their wellbeing, but very few are actually making space for it, according to the research commissioned by Fox's Fabulous Chocolatey, which spoke to 2000 adults. It also showed that more than one in 10 (14%) struggle to remember when the last time they did something indulgent just for themselves.
Back-to-back meetings, endless to-do lists, and juggling the needs of others leaves Brits with very little time for themselves, with just 36% of people managing to take a moment for 'me time' themselves every day. Pets and digital distractions, as well as guilt, are also among the top reasons, alongside money, that people struggle to find time.
Top 10 list of Brits biggest barriers to taking more 'me time':
Work/ my job (25%)
Lack of time (13%)
Looking after my children (13%)
Spending time with family (10%)
Cleaning (7%)
Digital distractions (4%)
Looking after pets (4%)
Financial reasons (4%)
Spending time with friends (3%)
Guilt (3%)
Fox's Fabulous Chocolatey has teamed up with king of fabulous himself, Craig Revel Horwood, to encourage Brits to put themselves first for once, without the guilt.
'Darling, if you're not treating yourself, then what are you doing! Life is far too short not to take time for yourself to unwind and indulge,' Revel Horwood said.
"That's why I'm thrilled to partner with Fox's Fabulous Chocolatey because frankly, we all deserve a moment that's as rich, luxurious, and generous as these fabulous biscuits.'
To help inspire the nation, Fox's Fabulous Chocolatey is launching the Fabulous Me Time Moments competition, giving one lucky winner £1,000 of luxury spa vouchers.
Isobel Farthing at Fox's Fabulous Chocolatey said: 'It's shocking how few of us give ourselves permission to properly unwind. We believe a little indulgence goes a long way. Fox's Chocolatey Rounds are baked with generosity in every bite, the perfect accompaniment to some much-deserved me time".

Julia claimed that when she questioned the foodie about his claims, his responses 'knocked her sideways.' As a result, eager to share her insider friend's insight with others, Julia took to social media and acknowledged the dishes she will now be avoiding, leaving many open-mouthed. And according to the restaurant owner, these dishes should be avoided at 'any restaurant" - whether that's a chain or a posh place. Say goodbye to 'specials' First things first, according to this insider, 'specials that aren't tied to a clear seasonal ingredient' should be steered clear of. While the insider claimed that such dishes 'sound harmless', it turns out that this often means using ingredients that need to be used before they go out of date. Julia's insider friend explained: 'The sauce masks the age, the garnish distracts you - and by the time you've finished, you've basically paid top dollar for yesterday's leftovers.' Feeling fishy Secondly, if you don't want to spend hours on the loo after going out for a meal, you may want to avoid 'shellfish in places nowhere near the coast.' According to this insider, unless restaurants have daily deliveries and spotless storage, you're 'gambling with your gut' by ordering shellfish. For those looking to avoid a night hugging the loo, Julia's friend stressed: 'Most punters don't realise but the wrong handling turns a fancy seafood platter into a food poisoning time bomb.' Vietnamese restaurant in London shut down after 'DOG MEAT disguised as goat found in freezer by health inspectors' Not ice, ice, baby Not only can shellfish cause an upset stomach, but having ice in drinks can also cause issues - yes, you heard that correctly. Julia's restaurant owner bestie suddenly made summer cocktails feel much less Instagrammable, as he shared a warning over having ice in beverages. You won't see it, but you'll feel it 12 hours later Insider He stressed: 'If the ice machine isn't cleaned properly - and in busy spots, it often isn't - you're basically sipping on a chilled petri dish.' Load off the meat Last but not least, the restaurant owner revealed the 'shocker' that you will want to avoid when dining at buffets or all-you-can-eats. According to this source, chicken dishes in such locations are 'the perfect breeding ground for bacteria if temps aren't bang-on.' How to save money eating out THERE are a number of ways that you can save money when eating out. Foodies react Julia's TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 213,700 views and 467 likes. Many users agreed with Julia's insider friend and raced to the comments to share their thoughts. These stunning NYC restaurants have been shortlisted for this year's Restaurant & Bar Design Awards
The Oscars of restaurant design are back—and New York has shown up dressed to kill. The annual Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, which spotlight the most jaw-dropping dining spaces around the globe, just revealed its 2025 shortlist and a handful of NYC spots made the cut. If you needed an excuse to eat somewhere pretty enough to make your Instagram followers jealous, consider this it. Brass, designed by Islyn Studio, is a love letter to glam nostalgia. With gleaming metallic surfaces, rich textures and a mood that feels part supper club, part glossy fever dream, it's no surprise it's up for multiple categories, including Standalone and Heritage Building. Translation: historic but make it chic. La Tête d'Or, Daniel Boulud's latest Midtown showpiece, is another strong contender. Velvet banquettes, an amber glow and a kitchen that doubles as an architectural centerpiece make it a visual feast before the steak even hits the table. The design has been recognized for both Lighting and In Another Space, but the 45-day-aged rib-eye might deserve an award of its own. The View, from Rockwell Group, is shortlisted in the Hotel category and practically cheats with its built-in asset: skyline vistas. Add in Rockwell's signature polish and you've got a dining room that reminds you why people put up with New York rent prices. Ken Fulk's Felix Roasting Co. has long been the city's most decadent caffeine fix, with marble counters, vintage-inspired fixtures and the kind of jewel-box interiors that make your flat white feel like a fashion accessory. The café nod proves that even your morning espresso deserves drama. The Otter, a hotel restaurant from Hannes Peer, is pure playfulness, combining bold colors, luxe finishes and splashy murals. Shortlisted across multiple categories, it proves that maximalism is alive and well downtown. And then there's Mission Ceviche, the first full-service restaurant from chef José Luis Chavez. Airy interiors, biophilic design touches, and South American flair landed it nominations in Standalone and Surface Interiors. Between the Nikkei ceviche and the moody-but-fresh aesthetic, it's basically a mini vacation on East 74th Street. They're not alone: Obvio, Clemente Bar, Twin Tails, Postcard and Crane Club also earned recognition this year, underscoring just how wide and varied New York's design talent runs, from inventive visual identities to hotel showpieces and intimate standalones.

Molly Rainford And Tyler West: A Complete Relationship Timeline
The Strictly curse has been broken! That's thanks to the news that Strictly stars Molly Rainford and Tyler West are engaged, three years after meeting on the show. West popped the question on a romantic trip to Mykonos, and shared an emotional video of the moment online. In the video, he says 'I don't know where to start – so I'm hoping you can continue making me the luckiest man on this Earth, like you do every single day,' before asking Molly to marry him - to which she says yes. In the caption on the video, he wrote 'Found our forever.' Here's everything you need to know about this Strictly romance success story.... Eastenders star Molly and Radio DJ Nick were both contestants on the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing. Molly succeeded on the show, making it to the final with professional dancer Carlos Gu, before the trophy went to Hamza Yassin and his partner Jowita Przystal. Tyler was partnered with pro Dianne Buswell, and the pair were booted out halfway through the contest. The pair actually started out as friends. Rainford told OK: 'Everyone thinks that we got together on the show, but we didn't. It kind of happened after but what's so lovely is that we kind of built a little friendship,' continuing 'I think because it stems from such a cool friendship into something more, that's what makes it so cool. He's a good boy. I'm very lucky.' Molly spoke to Fabulous magazine about her budding romancer with Tyler, revealing they grew close near the end of the tour. 'I suppose it developed towards the end of the tour because we'd spent so much time together and we were really good friends,' she told the outlet. 'The tour was so much fun. We were just doing everything together and it just progressed from there really.' She also said it was Tyler who asked her out once the tour had finished. 'He was like, 'Do you think when we get back, we could go on a date?' and I was like, 'Yeah, alright!' I was totally up for it,' she said. 'Everyone on Strictly was so excited for us. They kind of wanted it to happen [all the way through the show] and we were like, "No, we are trying to be professional."' In fact, Tyler even pinpointed the moment he knew it was love with Molly, which was on the Newcastle tour. 'The minute I'd leave Molly, I'd miss her,' he said. 'When you both feel it, you just know,' said Molly. In January 2024, Molly and Nic took the step of moving in together. 'We are good and going strong and are actually moving in together - we're just going through, you know dining tables and sofas and all that kind of stuff, it's exciting,' she told Mail Online at the time. Tyler also said: 'Molly's turned into a whole interior designer so I'm just taking a complete back seat!' Wedding bells are on the cards after Tyler popped the question on a trip to Mykonos at sunset, with the couple sharing the adorable moment in a video on Instagram. Naturally, friends were quick to offer their congratulations to the couple. Strictly: It Takes Two host Fleur East called it 'the most beautiful proposal' while JLS star Marvin Humes penned 'Wow... this is a lot. Couldn't be happier for two incredible people who are just perfect for eachother... I'm SO happy!!! Ah man this has made my night... congrats family...'
