Urea Shortage Row: There is no need to panic, assures Khammam Collector

The Collector instructed PACS to distribute urea only as per actual farmer requirements and emphasized increased monitoring in Kallur and Tallada mandals, where demand spikes have been observed.
He directed Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs) to coordinate and avoid unnecessary queues or delays at distribution centres.
'If farmers are forced to wait in long queues or leave their slippers in lines to reserve their place, serious action will be taken against the responsible society officials,' the Collector warned.
'Farmers should be able to collect urea within 10–15 minutes of arriving at the distribution centres,' he added. The Collector said that he instructed officials to identify individuals who are purchasing in bulk or making frequent purchases, and to ensure that small and marginal farmers receive priority access.
'Strict action will be taken in cases of urea diversion,' he said. 'Daily stock updates must be shared transparently with all stakeholders.'
In situations where high farmer turnout is seen at one location, urea stocks from nearby areas should be mobilized to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Durishetty also said on rumours being spread with the intent to incite protests, stating that such false claims are being made by a few individuals for vested interests.
'There is no reason for any farmer to stage protests in Khammam. Stocks are being allotted wherever necessary,' he said. 'Farmers are also encouraged to consider Nano Urea as a viable alternative.'

Farmers protest over urea shortage as queues get lengthier in many districts in Telangana
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA / KARIMNAGAR/ KHAMMAM : Farmers in Chandurthi, Yellareddipet, Illanthakunta, and Konaraopet mandals of Rajanna-Sircilla district, and Huzurabad, Karimnagar district, faced severe difficulties on Monday in procuring urea bags. They complained of spending long hours at fertiliser shops and primary agricultural cooperative societies (PACS), leaving them with little time for paddy transplantation. In Chandurthi, farmers placed their footwear in queues to reserve spots, alleging only one bag was being issued per Aadhaar card. Many said they were visiting shops daily due to the shortage. Long queues are being witnessed from morning to evening for urea bags. BRS leader and Vemulawada in-charge Chalmeda Laxminarsimha Rao alleged that the government lacked proper planning, causing severe inconvenience to farmers, and warned of protests in their support. In Karimnagar district, farmers from about 10 villages visit the local PACS daily but often return empty-handed. Kallepu Hanumantha Rao from Sirnapally said he had been coming for three weeks and still failed to get a urea bag. Farmers demanded that the government supply the required quantity of urea immediately, blaming poor management. Similar protests were also witnessed in Wyra in Khammam. District secretary of the Telangana Raithu Sangham, Bontu Rambabu, on Monday alleged that farmers were facing severe difficulties in getting adequate urea and fertilisers this season. Wyra mandal agricultural officer Manju Khan said there was some urea shortage and the problem is being addressed by redistributing excess stock.

Kalvabugga Gurukula school's alumni reunion today
Kalvabugga (Kurnool district): The Gurukula School, Kalvabugga in Kurnool district, will host its annual alumni reunion 'Samyama' on Sunday (August 10), under the aegis of the 1993 and 1999 batches.
