Steelers QBs Coach Raves About Aaron Rodgers: ‘He's at the Top of His Game'
PITTSBURGH — As a player, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth was in the same quarterbacks room with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay in 2006. Nineteen years later the two reunite in Pittsburgh, and Rodgers is still slinging it.
Arth new from Day 1 that Rodgers was special.

'I had just come from Indianapolis and spent three years with Peyton [Manning], and obviously saw the way he played and threw the ball. And it was really immediate to me, seeing Aaron and saying, 'Man, like, you know, this guy's got some really special gifts,'' Arth said at minicamp on Wednesday.
Rodgers has one of the best throwing motions in the game. His release looks so effortless. Even at 41 years of age, Arth believes Rodgers is still at the top of his game.
'I still think he's at the top of his game. I think he's a top quarterback in the league,' Arth siad. '…Aaron was extremely impressive. He still throws the ball very well. He's accurate. He's so smart. You can see his decision-making — doesn't take a lot of sacks.'

Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith thinks the sky's the limit for the offense with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers under center. Quite simply, the four-time NFL MVP is one of the best to ever do it.

'I've gotten to know Aaron outside of football the last couple of years. You talk about one of the all-time great quarterbacks and the things he accomplished in this league,' Smith said. 'I've really enjoyed obviously getting to know him as a player-coach relationship with the football stuff.
'Just really excited to have him here. It's gonna be a fun journey. I know we're a couple days in, but he's been awesome.'
Smith is well-known for his run-first mentality and usage of multiple tight ends, but he made it clear that it won't be a three yards and a cloud of dust type of offense.
'We didn't bring Aaron in here and sign DK for all that money to go run the wishbone,' he said.

Since 2022, Rodgers has 54 passing touchdowns. In that same time frame, the Steelers have had only 46 touchdown passes. Rodgers also had only one pass attempt in 2023 before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury.
The four-time league MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback showed he can still play good football last year with the New York Jets, throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Of course, Rodgers is not the same player that he used to be, but he's the best option for the Steelers in 2025.

Sam Bennett won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP on Tuesday night after leading all players in goals scored to help the Florida Panthers win a second consecutive Stanley Cup championship. It's such a huge honor, but I truly mean that: It could've went to anyone, and I couldn't have done it without my teammates." Bennett was a factor throughout the playoffs making big hits, crowding the crease and knocking opponents off their game. He drew anger from the Toronto Maple Leafs after he elbowed goaltender Anthony Stolarz during Game 1 in the second round and he was a frequent presence in front of Edmonton goalies Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard. "Everyone looks at the goals and rightfully so, but it's everything he does, even away from the puck," teammate Seth Jones said. "His physical presence out there, his 200-foot game, the way he plays away from the puck defensively, how he is on face-offs, I think it's the complete package we're lucky to have. It's been a big part of our success. He puts a lot of teams, a lot of defensemen on their heels out there." Bennett's game traveled, too. In Game 2 against Edmonton, he scored his 12th road goal of 2025 to set an NHL record. Bennett could parlay his massive postseason success into a lucrative contract as a free agent whether he re-signs with Florida or goes elsewhere. The 28-year-old said it has "actually been pretty easy" to set aside his pending free agency and uncertain future. "Competing for a Stanley Cup has always been my goal and my passion, and what I've wanted to do," Bennett said before Game 6. "That's just my focus. That's all I want, and it's been quite easy to just not even think about what's to come. I mean, yeah, it's really just a singular focus and that's how I've tried to handle it." Bennett contributed to back-to-back goals in Game 1 by standing in front of and falling onto Skinner, and he made a big hit on Vasily Podkolzin and scored seconds later in Florida's Game 3 victory. All series, he was in the middle of the action. "Physical player, incredible speed and then the hands to finish," coach Paul Maurice said. In a lot of ways, Bennett embodies Panthers hockey: hard-nosed, tough, willing to mix it up and also skilled enough to take advantage of mistakes. "He does it all — it's fun to watch," fourth-liner Jonah Gadjovich said. "He's throwing huge hits, he's playing hard defensively, working pucks in the corners, getting to the net, and obviously scoring a ton of goals. ... He's one of the leaders on the team, someone that we can all get behind."

Why Ole Miss basketball coach Chris Beard studied Tom Brady in offseason
OXFORD — Ole Miss basketball coach Chris Beard completed some self-assigned homework over the offseason. Beard said in a press conference on June 17 that he picks one person to study after his team's season ends. It's an open-ended task. The only requirement is his subject must be a winner. Advertisement "It doesn't always have to happen in the form of basketball," Beard said. "It doesn't always have to be athletic minded. I just try to study successful people and try to learn what makes them tick." Tom Brady certainly fits the bill. Beard chose to study Brady's career and mentality in the offseason. Brady won seven Super Bowls in his 23-year NFL career and retired in 2023 as the all-time leader in Super Bowl victories. Much of Beard's study came from podcasts. He searched for longform interviews where Brady spoke in an unfiltered manner. "What he did in football kind of speaks for himself," Beard said. "In retirement this past year or so he's pretty vocal and does an interview from time to time. Always really interested in the guy who will really talk and not all the fluff. One of the cool things about today's word, all these podcasts and stuff, these winners and elite people will talk more free than they used to back in the day." Advertisement Beard said he may have shaken Brady's hand briefly at one event or another, but he's not had a meaningful conversation with the New England Patriots legend who was the No. 199 pick in the 2000 NFL Draft out of Michigan. Beard admires the relentlessness Brady played with. "He's kind of the ultimate chip-on-your-shoulder guy," Beard said. "Wasn't supposed to play in college, ends up being the best player. Wasn't supposed to be a draft pick, ends up being the best player." Beard doesn't just internalize the information. The true value comes from boiling down what makes Brady tick and passing it along to his players such as junior forward Augusto Cassia. "Ultimately I get it down to the CliffsNotes version and try to get that information to the players," Beard said. "I don't expect Gusto to spend all the time that I spend on those projects. But if I can get him the bottom line and five minutes of information that it took me four months to gather, that's kind of one of my responsibilities as a coach." Rams re-sign former Georgia Bulldog days after his release The Los Angeles Rams have re-signed former Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers cornerback Derion Kendrick. The Rams re-signed Kendrick just a few days after they waived him. Kendrick spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with Los Angeles, but missed the 2024 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL in training camp. The 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback started 18 of 32 games during his first two seasons with the Rams. If fully healthy, then Kendrick is expected to compete for a starting role with the Rams or to at least make Los Angeles' active roster for games. The Rams drafted Kendrick with a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. During Kendrick's last healthy season in 2023, he recorded 49 tackles, 10 pass deflections and one interception. Kendrick participated in organized team activities, but it is unclear if he is able to join the team in Maui, Hawaii, for minicamp from June 16-18. Kendrick played the first three years of his college football career at Clemson before he transferred to Georgia for the 2021 season. He helped Georgia win a national championship and came up big for the Dawgs in the College Football Playoff. The Rams have four former Georgia Bulldogs on their roster in Kendrick, quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett and offensive lineman Warren McClendon.
