If PM Modi Is Not Our Leader, BJP Wont Even Win 150 Seats: Nishikant Dubey

India.com6 days ago
New Delhi: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey emphasised the crucial role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the party's electoral success, stating that several sections that did not vote for the BJP earlier now support the party, and it has broken new ground in many states.
Dubey, who is one of the most articulate faces of the BJP in Parliament, told ANI in an interview that the BJP requires PM Modi for its success and PM Modi's leadership is essential for the party's victory.
Dubey highlighted that the BJP's success is heavily dependent on PM Modi's leadership.
"Today, Modiji has become the Prime Minister for the third time...if Modiji is not our leader, the BJP may not win even 150 seats (in LS polls)," Nishikant Dubey said.
PM Modi has been in Prime Minister since 2014 and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance recorded its third successive victory in last year's Lok Sabha polls. The BJP got an absolute majority on its own in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
"When Modiji came, the vote bank that never belonged to the BJP, especially among the poor, shifted towards the party due to their faith in him. Some may like it or not, but it's a reality," Dubey said.
Dubey, who is a parliamentarian from Godda and is a four-time MP, attributed the party's success to the faith that people have in PM Modi.
"2029 ka chunav bhi BJP ki mazboori hai ki Modiji ke natritav mein ladna padega...(it is BJP's compulsion to fight the 2029 (Lok Sabha polls) under the leadership of PM Modi). The BJP needs Modiji...As a party worker, I believe that we need Modiji's leadership, " Dubey added.
"My remarks were not meant to be controversial, but rather a reflection of the reality on the ground. The fact that Modi's name alone can secure votes for the party is a testament to his leadership and the faith that people have in him. As long as his body permits, we will need his leadership to achieve our goal of a developed India by 2047," he added.
Answering a query on RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks about stepping down at the age of 75, Dubey said there is no need for Modiji to do so.
"BJP needs him. One may agree or not, a political party runs on cult...," he said.
Answering another query, Dubey said that for the next 15-20 years, PM Modi would be the leader. "15-20 saal tak Modiji nazar aa rahen hain (he is visible (as a leader) for the next 15-20 years)."
"It's natural for people to wonder about the future. However, when you're working at the grassroots level, you understand the reality. I contested elections in 2009 and won, but my victory margin was slim - just 6,000 votes. In fact, I lost in almost all six assembly segments, which is a testament to the challenges of winning," Dubey noted.
The BJP secured an absolute majority on its own for the first time in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls with Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate.
It won 282 seats in 2014, and improved its tally to 303 seats in the 2019 general elections. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) crossed the 350-mark, recording one of the highest victories in Lok Sabha polls.
Under PM Modi's leadership, the BJP has attained repeated success in assembly polls.
Tripura, Assam, Haryana, and Odisha are among the states BJP formed a government for the first time. It has also spread its influence in northeastern states and expanded its base in southern states.

'Looking For High-Scoring Partnership': Modi Bats For Youth, Farmers, MSMEs & Global Trade

India and the United Kingdom have signed a historic Free Trade Agreement (FTA) that promises to double bilateral trade, unlock new markets for Indian exports, and make UK products more affordable in India. Signed by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and UK counterpart Jonathan Reynolds, the deal was sealed in the presence of PM Modi and UK PM Keir Starmer. Modi called the moment 'historic,' comparing India-UK ties to a cricket match played with a straight bat. From Indian textiles and engineering goods to UK whisky and medical devices, the FTA aims to benefit both nations, but especially India's youth, farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs. This deal puts India on a stronger global footing, showing that even amid turbulent global trade dynamics, Delhi is batting with vision, confidence, and purpose. BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty counters Mamata Banerjee's migrant claims, slams EC gherao call

BJP leader and actor Mithun Chakraborty on Thursday hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, dismissing her recent claims of harassment of Bengali-speaking migrant workers in other states as 'baseless' and accusing her of spreading fear for political mileage ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Chakraborty alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership was rattled by the Election Commission's (EC) ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as they feared losing control over their 'illegal vote bank.' 'Trinamool Congress leaders know that once the names of infiltrators are removed from the voters' list, they will not be able to win even 70 out of 294 seats in West Bengal in 2026. That is why they are panicking and opposing the EC's revision drive,' he said. Talking to reporters, the veteran actor-turned-politician said Banerjee's comments were aimed at 'stirring controversy' and 'creating unnecessary panic' among the people of Bengal. 'She wants to create controversy in everything. Nothing is going to happen. Bangla language will remain as it is. Mamata Banerjee has no monopoly over it. We will put up a strong fight,' Chakraborty, a former TMC Rajya Sabha MP, said. He had resigned from the TMC in 2016 and joined the BJP in 2021, just a month ahead of the Assembly polls. His comments came days after Banerjee, addressing a public rally, alleged that Bengali migrant workers were being harassed in states like Gujarat and Maharashtra and cautioned against what she described as the BJP's 'linguistic terrorism.' She also accused the EC of deleting names of minority and migrant voters from the electoral rolls in Bengal and neighbouring Bihar, and called upon her party workers to 'gherao' the Commission's offices in protest. Reacting sharply to the TMC supremo's gherao call, Chakraborty said such tactics were futile. 'The Election Commission must act. Fake and bogus voters have to be removed; only then will elections be fair. Even if the Commission is gheraoed, what will that achieve? What is the point of such protests?' he asked. Chakraborty further claimed that the highest number of illegal infiltrators who managed to get their names enrolled in the voters' list was in West Bengal, and this had long been 'exploited' by the ruling party. 'Names of genuine Bengali voters are not being deleted anywhere in India. Only those who infiltrated illegally and got themselves registered as voters are being weeded out,' he said. He also urged BJP workers in Bengal to assist the Election Commission in identifying such illegal entries. 'This is a collective responsibility. Our workers should come forward and help the Commission in identifying infiltrators whose names have wrongly entered the rolls,' Chakraborty said. The TMC, meanwhile, has been opposing the EC's special revision drive tooth and nail. Banerjee has even said her party would not allow the exercise to take place in the state, alleging that it was an indirect attempt to introduce the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in West Bengal. The war of words between the TMC and BJP comes amid rising political temperatures in the state ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. While the TMC has accused the BJP of disenfranchising minority and migrant voters and threatening Bengal's linguistic and cultural fabric, the saffron party has hit back, saying the ruling party is running a fear campaign to deflect from governance failures and protect its illegitimate vote bank.

Telangana Commits to 42% BC Reservations in Local Elections; CM Revanth Reddy Slams BJP for Obstruction

New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reaffirmed the state government's strong commitment to conducting local body elections with 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs). Speaking to the media at his official residence in Delhi, he emphasized that the government is determined to implement the reservation policy despite opposition from the BJP and delay from the Centre in approving key bills. Revanth stated that the High Court has directed the state to conduct local elections within 90 days (by the end of September) and finalize the reservation structure within 30 days (by the end of July). He accused the Central Government of deliberately stalling the approval of two crucial bills passed by the Telangana Legislative Assembly related to BC reservations in education, employment, and local bodies. To press for the passage of these bills during the ongoing Parliament session, Revanth said the Telangana government will meet Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday morning to explain the state's methodology and findings from the Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, Political, and Caste (SEEEPC) survey. The same evening, a PowerPoint presentation will be made to Congress MPs from both Houses to provide a detailed account of the caste survey data and its implications. Revanth recalled that the Telangana Assembly had witnessed support from BJP, BRS, CPI, and AIMIM for the 42% BC reservation bill. He criticized Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay for using Muslim reservations as an excuse to block BC quotas. The Chief Minister challenged the BJP by pointing out that Muslim reservations are already in effect in BJP-ruled states like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, and dared BJP leaders to cancel those if they truly oppose them. Referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's past interview where he acknowledged Muslim reservations in Gujarat, Revanth questioned whether the BJP would suspend Shah for endorsing the same policy they now criticize. The Chief Minister also declared that Telangana's caste-based survey, started on February 4, 2024, and completed by February 4, 2025, has been placed before the Legislative Assembly for approval. Based on the survey, 56.4% of the state's population belongs to BCs, 17.45% are Scheduled Castes, 10.08% are Scheduled Tribes, and 10.09% belong to upper castes. Interestingly, 3.09% of respondents chose not to disclose their caste, which Revanth said was a new social development in the state. He stressed that individual details from the survey will not be disclosed, as doing so would violate the Data Privacy Act. The state government handed the survey data to an independent advisory committee of experts, who have submitted their report. This report will be reviewed by the state cabinet before being tabled in the Assembly. Revanth hailed Telangana's caste enumeration model as a role model for the country and urged the Centre to adopt Telangana's roadmap for nationwide implementation. He recalled that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi had promised caste enumeration, and Telangana became the first state to fulfill that commitment upon coming to power. Looking ahead, Revanth said the 2029 Lok Sabha elections will serve as a litmus test for OBC reservations. Drawing a parallel with the farmers' protest, he noted that the Centre was forced to repeal the controversial farm laws and similarly had to accept Telangana's lead on caste census. He also pointed out that the introduction of 10% reservations for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) has rendered the earlier 50% reservation cap irrelevant, strengthening Telangana's case for higher BC quotas. On another issue, Revanth said the state is actively considering removing the two-child norm currently in place for local body elections. Responding to a query about the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Revanth expressed surprise and called it unfortunate. He urged that the Vice President post should now be given to Telangana. He criticized the BJP for sidelining BC leaders, stating that former Union Minister Dattatreya was made Governor and his position handed over to Kishan Reddy, while BJP leader Sanjay was removed as state party chief. He suggested that correcting this injustice by nominating Dattatreya as Vice President would be a fitting move. Though the final decision lies with the Congress leadership, Revanth said he would personally support Dattatreya's candidacy if given a chance. The meeting also discussed political and policy strategies with participation from key leaders and advisors, including Shabbir Ali, Harkar Venu Gopal Rao, MPs Mallu Ravi, Chamal Kiran Kumar Reddy, Ramasahayam Raghurami Reddy, Porika Balram Naik, Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy, Gaddam Vamsi Krishna, Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, Suresh Shetkar, and Anil Kumar Yadav.
