Ali Fazal says filmmaking is not corporate job, reacts to debate stirred by Deepika Padukone: ‘Genre changes working style'
Claiming he doesn't know much about the ongoing debate in the industry, Ali shared, 'I am pro everybody being satisfied. At the end of the day, we are creators. This is not like a corporate job. No offence to them, but it is not. Creating things takes a lot of compassion. It needs to be mutually decided between actors, creators and technicians, 'What is the displacement of the hours in that particular project.''
He added that every project has different requirements and schedules are tailored accordingly. 'Sometimes, some projects don't require much because it is VFX-heavy. Some projects require more because it is action, and drama. The genre changes the working style. That's the kind of industry we are in. You can't put a template. This is all subjective. This is not for others to discuss and throw their opinions. It is harsh asking people to take sides. It is not fair.'

Previously, Kussh Sinha said in an interview with Zoom, 'An actor is not the only stakeholder in a film. There's the producer, director, DOP, production manager, location manager, and many more who are equally important to the process.'
Kussh, who is the son of veteran star Shatrughan Sinha (who is famously known for being tardy on sets) added, 'If an actor insists on working only a certain way, and this is discussed and agreed upon beforehand, then great. But if it's power play, 'my way or the highway,' I don't think that works. A film is a collective effort, and one person dictating timelines can create issues.' Meanwhile, filmmaker Suneel Darshan told IANS, 'I believe one should work only with those people who love your film more than you do. There was a time when Deepika was not a part of the industry. You will be able to find several new talents.'

Sandeep Reddy Vanga Confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit Begins Filming This September
Last Updated: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit starts filming in September with back-to-back schedules. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially confirmed that his much-anticipated film Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, will begin shooting in September 2025. The announcement came during a recent chat with Vijay Deverakonda and filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri on the Sithara Entertainments YouTube channel. Sandeep revealed that Spirit will have back-to-back schedules and a non-stop shooting plan once it hits the floors. Spirit made headlines earlier this year when Deepika Padukone exited the project following disagreements over working hours and compensation. Reports suggested that Deepika was advocating for a strict eight-hour workday, a demand that could not be accommodated by the production team. Following her exit, Triptii Dimri was roped in to play the female lead opposite Prabhas. According to reports by Rangasthalam, Sandeep has already completed the musical compositions for Spirit in collaboration with composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit is one of the most awaited action dramas in Indian cinema and is expected to hit theatres in 2027. The film reportedly presents Prabhas in a never-seen-before avatar, adding to fans' excitement. Earlier, a source close to the project revealed, 'Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to shoot for Spirit in a certain way and has requested Prabhas to acquire a lean physique. The idea is to ensure most stunts are performed by Prabhas himself. The Rebel Star is excited about the challenge and is working closely with Sandeep to mold himself into the character." After wrapping up Spirit, Sandeep will begin scripting Animal Park, the much-anticipated sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal. With high expectations riding on Spirit, fans are eagerly awaiting to see what cinematic magic Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas will bring to the screen. 'Won't run for even a day...': Made for Rs 10 crore, this film was initially tagged a flop due to..., yet made the makers rich, movie is..
It is still a mystery what exactly can make a movie a superhit or a super flop. Maybe it's the casting, a scene, a song, or even a dialogue. Something similar happened with the film we're going to discuss today. This movie, made for Rs 10 crore, did not perform well in its initial days. However, as days passed, the film garnered attention and eventually turned out to be a huge hit. It earned the title of a cult classic, and perhaps in the coming days, we might even witness a franchise based on the movie. Twenty-three years ago, one of Bollywood's ace directors helmed the movie and cast three of the finest actors in the industry — Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, and Boman Irani. Now, all these characters might ring a bell in your mind, and let us tell you, we are talking about none other than Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Was Initially a Flop Would you believe it if we told you that Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. was initially a flop? Yes, the film initially faced challenges, with reports of empty theaters on the first day. No Distributors Wanted to Buy Munna Bhai M.B.B.S Vidhu Vinod Chopra is counted among Bollywood's top producers. He has produced films like Pradeep Sarkar's Parineeta, Rajkumar Hirani's Munna Bhai franchise, 3 Idiots, and PK. But in a recent interview with Screen, he revealed that no distributor from South India wanted to buy Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Despite that, the movie made Vidhu rich. He recalled that the film opened to nearly empty theaters but became his most profitable venture, mainly because it wasn't sold outside Mumbai initially. Vidhu recalled a discussion with a South Indian distributor who purchased the movie for Rs 11 lakh. The distributor arrived to collect the film just four days before its release but expressed doubts after watching it. 'Sir, this film won't work even for a day. Nobody outside of Mumbai would understand the language of Munna Bhai,' Chopra recalled him saying. Adding further, the filmmaker revealed that he once offered to refund the Rs 5 lakh advance paid by another South Indian distributor. However, the distributor preferred to keep the money, expressing faith in Chopra and his belief that Chopra's next film might be a hit. Chopra explained, 'The bottom line is I had no distributor for South India. I had friends — Shyam Shroff and Bala Shroff — who had a company.' He shared that there was a cinema in Chennai where he secured only a single morning show at 11 a.m. He sold his print there for Rs 5 lakh, but the final business from that one centre crossed Rs 1 crore.
