Johor rolls out new housing plan for low income group outside eKasih system
State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said RPJ is a state government initiative to fill the gap in housing aid for those who are excluded or not listed under the e-Kasih database, but still fall under the low-income category.
He said applications are now open for 500 units to be developed with an allocation of RM15 million, offering two categories of homes priced at RM86,000 for three-bedroom units and RM66,000 for two-bedroom units.
'These houses will be built on privately owned land and are expected to be completed within seven months.
'This is one of the fastest and most effective housing programmes ever implemented in Johor, with direct impact on the people,' he told a press conference here today.
Mohd Jafni said the state government is also providing a subsidy of RM30,000 and successful applicants are only required to pay RM36,000 or RM56,000, depending on the type of home.
He said the RPJ eligibility conditions have also been improved, including considering applicants who share land with family and have not received any form of housing assistance from any agency.
Meanwhile, under the Rumah Kasih Johor (RKJ) initiative, construction of 500 housing units has been ongoing since 2023 and will continue until 2026 across all 56 state constituencies, with an allocation of over RM67.5 million.
So far, 50 units have been completed and handed over to recipients, while 120 units are under construction and 165 units are in the implementation stage, he said.
Mohd Jafni said the RPJ and RKJ initiatives were implemented with strong cooperation from the Johor Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ), local authorities, district offices and elected representatives.
He also reminded the public that the state government has not appointed any agents or middlemen for applications involving the Johor Affordable Housing (RMMJ) scheme, and all applications must be made through the 'erumah' portal.

Citaglobal takes control of two hydropower projects in Perak
KUALA LUMPUR: Citaglobal Bhd's subsidiary Citaglobal Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd has acquired majority stakes in two hydropower projects in Perak for RM15 million. Citaglobal said the move diversifies its renewable energy portfolio and demonstrates its commitment to Malaysia's vision for a low-carbon economy through structural energy reforms and the increased use of renewable energy. The deal involves the acquisition of 70 per cent stake in Zeqna Corporation Sdn Bhd (Zeqna) for RM15 million, and 70 per cent in Koridor Mentari Sdn Bhd for RM1, conditional upon the completion of Zeqna acquisition, it said. According to Citaglobal, the two hydropower assets are projected to generate up to RM19 million in recurring annual revenue under long-term renewable energy power purchase agreements with Tenaga Nasional Bhd. The remaining 30 per cent stakes in both Zeqna and Koridor Mentari will continue to be held by Perak Hydro Renewable Energy Corp Sdn Bhd, which has been granted water rights by the Perak state government for mini-hydropower development in the state. "This partnership gives Citaglobal access to strong institutional backing and a pipeline of future hydropower opportunities in a state well-suited for such developments, supported by favourable topography, river hydrology, and established grid infrastructure," it said. President and executive chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said the acquisition of the Slim Hydropower Plant, a revenue-generating brownfield asset, alongside the Kampar hydropower plant, a high-potential, fully approved greenfield project, accelerates the expansion of its renewable energy business by several years. Mohamad Norza said Slim hydropower plant will provide the company with an immediate source of recurring revenue, while Kampar hydropower plant, benefitting from its newly approved capacity and tariff, promises to deliver exceptional long-term value. "Together, they provide a well-balanced platform for scaling our clean energy portfolio, which includes solar, waste-to-energy and battery energy storage projects," he added.

ARK Resources proposes private placement to raise RM1.9m
ARK Resources Holdings Bhd has proposed a private placement of up to 9.05 million new shares, representing not more than 10% of its issued share capital, to independent investors at a price to be determined later. Based on an indicative issue price of 21 sen per share, an 8.7% discount to its five-day volume-weighted average price of 23 sen, the exercise is expected to raise gross proceeds of about RM1.9 million. The construction and property development company plans to allocate RM1.21 million of the proceeds to set up a new 7,000 sq ft corporate office in Bayan Lepas, Penang, which will also serve as a sales and marketing gallery for a planned high-rise residential project in the area. Another RM595,000 will be used for working capital, mainly to hire new staff for the office, while RM100,000 will cover placement expenses. M&A Securities Sdn Bhd has been appointed as the principal adviser and placement agent for the exercise, which is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025. The group said the placement will allow it to raise funds quickly without incurring interest expenses and strengthen its capital base. — TMR
