More trouble for NCP (SP) leader Eknath Khadse's son-in-law, Pune police book him for taking nude videos of woman
Khewalkar, the husband of Khadse's daughter Rohini Khadse, the NCP (SP)'s women's wing chief, has been in jail after he was arrested along with four men and two women following a raid on July 27 on a flat in the Kharadi area where the police claimed a 'rave party' was underway.
A police press release on Friday said the woman filed a complaint with the cyber police station that Khewalkar, between 2022 and 2025, allegedly took her nude photographs and videos at different locations without her consent and with the purpose of misusing them in the future.
The police lodged a fresh FIR against Khewalkar at the cyber police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 77 (voyeurism) and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
During the alleged rave party, the police claimed to have recovered 2.7 grams of substance suspected to be cocaine, 70 grams of substance suspected to be marijuana and other items, including ten cell phones, two cars, a hookah pot, liquor and beer bottles, all worth Rs 41,35,400, from the spot.
Th FIR in that case was lodged against the accused at the Kharadi police station under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act (COTPA).
Khewalkar's lawyer then alleged that the police planted the contraband seized in this case for 'political' reasons and that drugs were recovered from his possession.
The police said analysis of Khewalkar's mobile phone and laptop revealed multiple videos of his alleged obscene and objectionable acts with women during and after the parties.
Rupali Chakankar, the chairperson of Maharashtra Women's Commission, wrote a letter to the Pune police to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Khadse accused the Pune police of defaming his family by leaking private photos through a conspiracy after arresting his son-in-law.

Gurgaon: A 38-year-old pantry worker, who was being thrashed by two persons over a Rs 15,000 loan he needed to repay them, succumbed to injuries he suffered when he jumped out of a moving car in a desperate bid to escape. Two men, Praveen Rana and Aryan, were arrested in connection with the case. Ajay Tiwari — a resident of Ashok Vihar Phase-3 Extension — had borrowed Rs 30,000 from Rana, a property dealer, on April 25. The situation, however, took a dire turn when she received a call from Tiwari's colleague, Manish, informing her that the pantry worker was critically injured and hospitalised. Initially admitted to Manipal Hospital in the city, Tiwari's condition worsened later that night. He was transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, where he was placed on a ventilator. Tiwari passed away on Friday, prompting the hospital authorities to alert police. Police investigation later revealed that after Rana and Aryan forcibly took Tiwari into their car, they assaulted him when he pleaded his inability to repay the remaining money anytime soon. In an attempt to escape, Tiwari jumped out of the moving vehicle near Bajghera, suffering fatal head injuries. The two accused left him at the scene. The car used in the crime was later recovered by police. According to sources, Tiwari — terrified and cornered — repeatedly warned Rana and Aryan of his intention to jump. A video shot by one of the accused captured Tiwari's frantic warnings and screams before he leaped from the car near the Bajghera police station underpass. Although the accused did not physically push him, their actions led police to file an FIR for kidnapping, assault, and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Additional video conferencing systems to be installed in state jails to expedite trial of undertrial prisoners
1 2 Pune: A total of 315 video conferencing systems (VCS) and 589 cubicles will be installed by the state prisons department to expedite the trial of undertrial prisoners languishing in 60 jails. Additional director general (prison) Suhas Warke told TOI on Saturday, "There are 478 existing VCS and 314 cubicles installed in state jails linked to courts. We have proposed to install an additional 315 VCS and 579 cubicles in a phased manner. The total cost of the project is Rs 34 crore. The district planning development committee and the state home department have sanctioned funds of Rs 10.60 crore." Principal secretary (appeals and security) Radhika Rastogi told TOI over the phone, "Installing VCS and cubicles is an ongoing project sanctioned by the state govt. It will reduce the physical burden on police during inmate escorts by eliminating the need for physical transportation to court appearances to some extent. The project aims to save time, resources, and reduce risks associated with inmate movement from jail to courts and vice versa. Now, more focus will be on conducting full-fledged trials, inquiries, and other proceedings, including examination of witnesses and recording of evidence using audio-video electronic means within the cubicle system to be installed by the state public works department to maintain the privacy of the hearing. Desai said there are around 40,000 inmates lodged in jails. VCS are being extensively used for producing the inmates for extending their magisterial/judicial custody remand, deciding plead guilty cases, and passing conviction orders etc. Advocate Milind Pawar, former president of Pune Bar Association, said the CBI took the initiative to start the VCS to conduct trials in the fake stamp paper case involving kingpin AKL Telgi and 64 others at the special court, Pune, in 2004. In the last 21 years, the state govt has installed VCS across the courts. VCS can do wonders if the internet connectivity system is improved and more storage space is created to install additional VCS at the district and taluka courts on the lines of virtual hearing in Bombay High Court and Supreme Court. Women lured with fake job offers, drugged & exploited
Hyderabad: What began as a promise of overseas jobs and quick money has unravelled into a chilling racket in the city, where young women were trapped with drugs, sexually exploited at parties, and stripped of savings in the guise of training and visa processing. The women told investigators they had no idea how many times they were assaulted or by how many men, as they often lost consciousness during the office parties . "I applied for a job after seeing an ad on a social networking site," said a 27-year-old from Nellore. "The job offered a 15,000 salary. Because I had no work experience, I paid 50,000 for training. The businessman promised to send me to the US after working in Hyderabad for a year." A mother of a three-year-old and separated from her husband, she said her employer persuaded her to change her 'lifestyle', undergo a complete makeover, and improve her 'networking skills' to survive in the US. "During the week, we worked on what seemed to be legitimate IT-related projects. On weekends, we were regularly taken to parties at resorts. They gave us tablets or something we could not identify on a piece of paper, ostensibly to avoid hangovers after drinking. Everything was hazy after that," the woman said. "I thought I could trust this group as we all worked together. It was only after attending mandatory counselling for addicts that I realised the situation I was in," said the woman, who even attempted to die by suicide after she was caught and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. At a party, they put a paper in my mouth. After that, I don't know what happened," she said. With no work experience, many were looking for a shortcut to land jobs with a big firm in the US, even willing to forgo a salary and pay their employers to process the paperwork. Most came from humble backgrounds and were hoping to overcome their financial struggles. "I believed I was working on a project for an MNC while in the company. A couple of months later, I was told that visa processing would cost lakhs. They offered to deduct from my salary, and I agreed, thinking I was already giving interviews to clients in the US," said a 22-year-old from the city. She added that she was introduced to party culture after joining the firm and later realised they were being made to use heavy drugs.
