Minister slams YSRCP govt for stopping contractors' bills
A total of Rs. 73,28,299 was released to 376 beneficiaries from five mandals in the Banaganapalle constituency. The payments were made in compliance with court orders.
Speaking at his camp office, the minister expressed his satisfaction in fulfilling this long-standing commitment. He criticised the previous YSRCP government, accusing it of withholding the payments out of 'political vendetta.'
Janardhan Reddy noted that works such as mini Gokulam sheds, CC roads, IHHL units, NREGA projects, and horticulture schemes, which were sanctioned between 2017 and 2019, were completed on schedule. However, he said that the YSRCP government, upon taking office, withheld 21 per cent of the sanctioned funds. This action, he said, deprived contractors and individual beneficiaries of their rightful payments and forced them to seek relief from the courts after their repeated representations were ignored.
The minister praised the beneficiaries and contractors for their perseverance in securing justice through the legal system. He affirmed the current government's commitment to honoring past obligations and ensuring that everyone who contributes to the state's development is paid fairly and without prejudice. In response, beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the minister and the TDP-led coalition government for resolving the issue and restoring their faith in the administration.

He asserted that Operation Sindoor, the Gaganyaan mission and the manufacture of indigenous semiconductors has proved the power of self-reliance.'The greater a nation's reliance on others, the more its freedom comes into question,' he said. 'Misfortune arises when dependency becomes a habit, when we do not even realise it, when we abandon self-reliance and become dependent on others. This habit is fraught with danger, and hence one must remain vigilant every moment to be self-reliant.'Made-in-India weapons and defence systems helped India during Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister asserted.'The enemy had no inkling of what weapons and capabilities we possessed, what power was destroying them in the blink of an eye,' he said. 'Imagine if we were not self-reliant, could we have executed Operation Sindoor with such swiftness? 'We are working towards building our own space station. And I am very proud of the reforms done in space recently. More than 300 startups in my country are now working only in the space sector and thousands of youth are working with full potential in those 300 startups.'He expressed satisfaction at the pace with which the National Manufacturing Mission was progressing and reiterated the importance of the 'vocal for local,' 'zero defect, zero effect' and 'lower price, higher value' the need for promoting indigenous products, Modi urged all traders and shopkeepers across the country to put up boards, saying 'Swadeshi goods sold here.'The new jobs programme is expected to create new employment opportunities for approximately 35 million youth.'Today, on August 15th, we are launching and implementing a scheme worth Rs 1 lakh crore for the youth of my country,' he said. 'The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is being implemented today… Under this scheme, the government will give Rs 15,000 to the youth, to every son or daughter who gets a job in the private sector.'Companies that generate more jobs will also be given incentives under the scheme.

Don't link J&K's statehood to terror, Omar says day after SC's Pahalgam reference
Omar Abdullah (File photo) SRINAGAR: Chief minister Omar Abdullah decried Friday the practice of tying terror attacks to J&K's political fate and asserted that Pakistan should not be allowed to influence it through terrorism, a day after Supreme Court observed that 'incidents like Pahalgam' must be considered when deciding on statehood. 'Will the killers of Pahalgam and their masters in the neighbouring country decide whether we will be a state?' Omar said in his Independence Day speech, his first since taking office last Oct and the first by a CM since Article 370's abrogation and J&K's conversion into a Union territory Aug 2019. Speaking at Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium, Omar termed SC's reference to Pahalgam 'unfortunate' and asked: 'What kind of justice is it? Every time we are close to statehood, they will do something to sabotage it. Is this fair? Why are we being punished for a crime in which we had no role?' He pointed out that 'J&K's residents from Kathua to Kupwara' had protested the Pahalgam massacre of April 22 in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were gunned down. 'Me and my colleagues will use these eight weeks to go to each constituency,' Omar said. In his speech steeped in lament, the CM cited reports in various quarters about an 'announcement this Independence Day from Delhi' -- an allusion to restoration of statehood. 'I had hoped that in some corner of today's (PM Narendra Modi's) speech, there would be an announcement for J&K. We were told the papers are ready and it's only a matter of time. But nothing happened.' Expressing his anguish further, Omar said he wished no one became the CM of a Union Territory with an assembly -- like J&K --comparing the National Conference (NC) govt he leads to 'a horse asked to run with two front legs tied'. 'It has nothing except pain and anxieties. I have been chief minister of the state and now of the UT. The system of dual governance is not for success but for instilling defeat.' The Omar-led govt does not control key departments such as home, which is vested with Centre-appointed lieutenant-governor (LG) Manoj Sinha. Omar said he had never imagined before taking office that his cabinet's decisions 'could be altered or thrown into the dustbin', remarks seen as an allusion to the LG's overriding powers. 'I am accountable to the assembly and assembly members to the people. But the bureaucracy in the present system is not answerable to the elected representatives.'
