NCP-SP leader says Sanatan Dharma, Hinduism not same; BJP leaders react
ANI reported that Awhad was talking to reporters when he said, 'There was never any religion called Sanatan Dharma. We are followers of Hindu Dharma.'
He said the concept of Sanatan Dharma was behind the oppression of anti-caste activists, social reformers, and other leaders: 'It did not even allow Dr BR Ambedkar to drink water or attend school.'
He also said, 'It was this so-called Sanatan Dharma that denied our Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj his coronation. This Sanatan Dharma defamed our Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The followers of this Sanatan Dharma tried to assassinate Jyotirao Phule.'
It was Ambedkar who "rose against Sanatan Dharma, burned the Manusmriti, and rejected its oppressive traditions', he added.
Leaders of the ruling BJP reacted angrily.
Party leader Ram Kadam said, 'The statement by the leader of Sharad Pawar's faction is based on an incomplete study of the scriptures… Will they now do this for politics… defame Sanatan Dharma?'
He accused Awhad of making the statements for "politics of appeasement'.

SP leaders have donkey-like intelligence: Yogi
Bareilly: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid foundations for development projects worth Rs 1,172 crore during his visit to Moradabad on Wednesday. The projects include the Rs 15 crore Gautam Buddha Waste Management Education Centre, Rs 18.73 crore Spandan Sarovar, Rs 78.73 crore Atal Residential School and the Constitution Literature Park. He also launched and laid the foundation for 87 development projects. Addressing a gathering, Yogi launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP), saying, "SP leaders have donkey-like intelligence." Yogi said the previous SP govt left behind 1.54 lakh dilapidated schools, which lacked basic facilities like toilets for women, hygiene, etc. Now, under the "Kayakalp" initiative, 1.36 schools have been transformed by providing digital libraries, labs, and smart classes, and the BJP govt is working to modernise the remaining schools. He also mentioned that prior to 2017, Moradabad was engulfed by riots, but now, under the one district one product scheme, city's brass product has gained popularity in global markets. Yogi also visited Bareilly, where he called the SP rule mafia-backed, corruption-ridden and lawless. He accused SP of promoting nepotism, saying jobs were sold under their regime through favouritism and loot. He said SP had made "one district one mafia", but things have changed now. "The law and order situation is under control now," said the CM.

Dadar Kabutarkhana protest: Opposition parties in Maharashtra question state government stand on public health, state minister seeks middle ground
Mumbai: The protest at the Dadar kabutarkhana and the administration's response has further sharpened the divide on the issue with the Opposition questioning how public health can be compromised to appease religious sentiment and whether govt had implemented a well-thought plan. BJP minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who is a Marwari Jain, has been advocating an "amicable solution" to feed pigeons in public places without violating the Bombay high court's directives, a suggestion that has few takers in the Congress or the NCP (SP). MPCC president Harshawardhan Sapkal said, "Fadnavis should advise builders Mangal Prabhat Lodha and Gautam Adani to set up kabutarkhanas on land owned by them in Mumbai and resolve the row." He said the entire controversy seemed a ploy to divert attention from key public issues. NCP SP MLA Rohit Pawar, who visited the spot around 1.30 pm, said the face-off between Jain groups and police could have been avoided if the govt had not acted in a hasty manner which hurt sentiments. "Minister Uday Samant should have considered all consequences before ordering an abrupt closure of the kaburtarkhanas. This sudden decision has probably impacted the birds, which may have triggered an emotional reaction from the community. " In Thane, an MNS Thane functionary, Sushant Dombe, upped the ante, writing to the Thane police chief and municipal commissioner, demanding an immediate halt to all illegal pigeon feeding points in the city. He also questioned whether it could be justified if the party launches a similar agitation for the Madhuri elephant in the name of faith. BJP's minister Ashish Shelar, who is also guardian minister for the Mumbai suburbs, however, stuck to the govt's official line calling for "controlled feeding" of pigeons. "Kabutarkhanas should also be saved by this controlled feeding structure. It should not be excessive and should not cause any inconvenience to people," Shelar said.

Dimple Yadav's attire was inappropriate for mosque: BJP minority wing chief
National president of BJP Alpsankhyak Morcha Jamal Siddiqui on Wednesday criticised Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav for allegedly violating decorum during a visit to a mosque adjacent to Parliament. The remark drew a sharp reaction, with the SP alleging that Siddiqui is associated with an ideology responsible for the demolition of mosques and places of worship. Speaking in Kanpur on Wednesday, Siddiqui said Dimple Yadav's attire was inappropriate. He accused her of entering the mosque without covering her head, calling it 'an insult to the sentiments of Muslims.' Addressing a press conference, he said both men and women are expected to cover their bodies fully as per Islamic customs when entering a place of worship. 'Dimple Yadav's attire was inappropriate in that way,' he said, adding that such actions reflect a disregard for religious sanctity. Siddiqui further alleged that SP president Akhilesh Yadav had behaved inappropriately inside the mosque, claiming that he was seen laughing, which he described as 'disrespectful'. Reacting to the statement by Siddiqui, SP spokesperson Ameeque Jamei said, 'The ideology that Jamal Siddiqui is associated with is responsible for the martyrdom of our mosques and places of worship. He should not teach us about mosques. Dimple Yadav ji respects all religions and ideologies. 'Be it Dimple Ji or Iqra Hasan, the anti-women forces are not ready to accept them. That is why they are being targeted. The doors of mosques are always open for women. This is the house of Allah and is for everyone. If Jamal Siddiqui has anything to do with Islam, he should tell the UP government to stop demolishing mosques,' the SP spokesperson said. Meanwhile, Siddiqui announced the launch of 'Dr Kalam Startup Youth Award 2.0', to be presented on the tenth death anniversary of former President and Bharat Ratna awardee, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The award aims to recognise and honour outstanding young entrepreneurs from minority communities across India. Praising the initiatives of the Central government, Siddiqui contrasted the progress under the Modi administration with that of the previous SP government. 'During the Akhilesh regime, there were only 30,000 startups. Under Prime minister Narendra Modi, the number has surged to over 4.36 lakh,' he claimed. Lauding government schemes such as Startup India, Digital India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, Siddiqui noted that these have empowered India's youth and given a significant impetus to entrepreneurship. Recalling Dr Kalam's vision, Siddiqui urged the youth to contribute to nation-building by following his ideals.
