After a two-year wait, Apple TV Plus' ambitious sci-fi drama Foundation returns for a third season today.
Described as 'unbelievably epic' and 'riveting' by fans, the latest instalment has so far received a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, with top TV critics hailing it as 'magnificent' and 'stunning'.
The Dune-esque science fiction show, loosely based on the book series of the same name by Isaac Asimov, first landed on the small screen in 2021 and returned for a second in July 2023.
It follows The Foundation, a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it, embarking on a journey to save humanity and rebuild civilisation.

Season two ended with an explosive finale that saw a major character's death and a 152-year time jump.
Now, The Foundation has become established far beyond its humble beginnings, while the Cleonic Dynasty's Empire has dwindled. But a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the form of a warlord known as The Mule, whose sights are set on ruling the universe through mind control.
Metro TV editor Sabrina Barr reviewed Foundation when it first aired in September 2021, awarding the 'epic' sci-fi series four stars.
'There's a lot to unravel in Foundation, and the first two episodes – while utterly enthralling – may be quite confusing for some.
'If you don't mind scratching your head at every turn, Foundation is a fantastic watch in every respect, from the visuals to the score, the performances and the action.
'While there is a lot of information to absorb in the opening episodes, you get the feeling that throughout the 10-episode arc, everything will – hopefully – start to come together and make a lot more sense.
'No matter how perplexing some parts may be, we are definitely along for the complex and thrilling ride.'

Season three of Foundation lands on Apple TV Plus today, July 11, followed by new episodes weekly every Friday until September 12.
But it's not the only hit series coming back to streaming this month. TV fans of fantasy, romance and comedy alike are waiting for cliffhangers to be resolved as their favourite shows return — some of them for the final time.
Netflix kept its cards close to its chest when it came to what to expect from The Sandman season two, but fans of the comics will have had an idea of what's in store.
For the most part, critics have been impressed with the latest instalment, with Metro's own Tom Percival writing in his review: 'Season two is every bit as beguiling, bold and brilliant as the first, managing to somehow elevate the source material.'
It begins just a few weeks after the events of the first season and sees Dream (Tom Sturridge) rebuilding his Kingdom — but it's not long before the past comes back to haunt him.
There had been much speculation around the future of The Sandman after creator Neil Gaiman, who is also the writer of the original The Sandman comic books, was accused of sexual assault in July last year, allegations which he denies.
It has since been confirmed that the second season of The Sandman will be its last. Showrunner Allan Heinberg said in a statement in January: 'The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream's story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough for one more season.'
Where to watch: The Sandman Season 2 Volume One (episodes 1–6) landed on Netflix on July 3, followed by Volume 2 (episodes 7–11) on July 24. The will be a special bonus episode on July 31.
Amazon Prime Video's smash hit series, based on Jenny Han's best-selling book trilogy, also returns in July for its third and final season.
The coming-of-age drama follows Belly (Lola Tung), a teenage girl who finds herself in a love triangle with family friends and brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).
Season one ended with Belly in a relationship with Conrad, but when things don't work out in season two, she finds happiness with Jeremiah.
In season three, the trio are now on the brink of adulthood, and the trailer teases Belly and Jeremiah's engagement — but it's clear she can't stop thinking about Conrad.
The time has come for Belly to confront her true feelings about the Fisher brothers, but who will she choose?
Where to watch: The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 lands on Amazon Prime Video on July 16. Episodes will be released weekly until the finale on September 17.
Set in a Mexican holiday resort in the 80s, Acapulco is a bingeable under-the-radar comedy that's first season boasts a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.
The show is inspired by the film How to Be a Latin Lover, with its star Eugenio Derbez playing the role of Máximo Gallardo, a man who came from humble beginnings but is now a wealthy Mexican businessman living a luxurious life in Malibu.
For its fourth and final season, the synopsis reads: 'Present-day Máximo works tirelessly to restore Las Colinas to its former glory before the grand reopening. In 1986, when a competitor claims the number one spot in the annual ranking of Acapulco's Best Hotels, young Máximo (Enrique Arrizon) will do whatever it takes to get back on top and secure Las Colinas' future.'
Where to watch: The first two episodes of Acapulco Season 4 land on Apple TV Plus on July 23, with new episodes weekly thereafter.
This Netflix sports documentary gives viewers exclusive access to three NFL quarterbacks and their families.
Season one culminated in the 2023 Super Bowl, which saw Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes celebrating his team's win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now, season two follows Joe Burrow at the start of his fifth season with the Cincinnati Bengals and Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions, while Kirk Cousins, who left the Minnesota Vikings after a torn Achilles tendon in 2023, returns to Quarterback for the second time, now with the Atlanta Falcons.
A synopsis reads: 'It documents intimate moments with their families, friends and trainers. It also reveals the many pressures involved: what it's like to take a hit from a 300-pound defensive lineman, to receive an entire stadium's cheers or boos, and to ask your loved ones to make serious sacrifices on your behalf. More Trending
'It's part football epic, part character study — and, depending on the week, part parenting manual.'
From the wins and losses to injuries and family life, Quarterback unveils the pressures on the athletes who hold what is arguably the most demanding job in American football.
Where to watch: All episodes of Quarterback Season 2 landed on Netflix on July 8.

Princess Andre addresses family feud rumours after claims show branded her trash

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Princess Andre has hit back at claims that her family is in a feud after her mother claimed her new show branded her 'trash'. The 18-year-old has recently been promoting her new reality TV series with ITV titled The Princess Diaries, which is set to launch on Sunday. Yesterday, she appeared on This Morning alongside her brother Junior to talk about a valuable lesson they learned from their parents Katie Price and Peter Andre. Now, however, Princess has addressed rumours that her mother was 'banned' from being on her new show, which follows a recent string of events including her 18th birthday party where Katie said she wasn't welcome. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the young TV star said: 'It's my show, it's not based on my parents, it's focused on me. To be honest there's no rift between me and either of my parents.' Discussing her birthday party in particular, which was thrown by her father Peter and Katie did not attend, she added: 'What I would usually do, as I've done my whole life, would be to spend the morning with one parent and the evening with the other. 'As it happened, mum ended up being away, and dad had already decided to throw me a last minute birthday party, which we filmed for the show. 'But anyhow, it would be weird if both parents were in the same room, as I'm sure a lot of people out there with divorced parents can relate to.' Just days before the launch of her new ITV2 show, Katie told her sister Sophie Price on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, on an episode titled The Truth Behind The Princess Diaries that she has been deliberately cut out of the new TV series because it wasn't good for Princess' brand. 'I want the best for Junior and Princess, and I would never get in the way of it,' she said. 'But what hurts my feelings, and it does upset me, is when your kids grow up, you go to their assemblies, you go to their Christmas things, you go to their awards, you go to their football matches or gymnastics, you're involved in everything they do. 'And knowing that, what my career has been, Princess is taking that same path, trying to do the same as what I've done, which I absolutely love and adore [about] Princess.' She then added that she 'wasn't welcome' and felt concerned that she was putting her daughter in an awkward position. 'But I have not been allowed to go on any photo shoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. Why? Because I'm not allowed and I'm not welcome. 'And it puts Princess in a situation because I don't want her to feel she has to choose between me and her work because I want her to do well. 'And I have said to Princess, just see how it feels for me because I should be there supporting you, I want to be there to support you like my family did. And I'm your mum, and especially as you're doing stuff that I did, I'm proud of you and want to be there.' More Trending She also claimed that it was her ex-husband and the management team who were stopping her from being involved. Speaking on This Morning, Princess spoke about growing up in the spotlight, saying: 'I feel like the way I think about it is if you're putting yourself out there, you have to expect negativity and positivity too. 'We learnt from our parents how to deal with it. There are horrible people but we just have to deal with it.' View More » The Princess Diaries is available to watch on ITV from 9pm on Sunday. Exit story confirmed for Coronation Street character just days after wedding

The Coronation Street wedding of Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) was a typically dramatic affair, as everything that could go wrong did go wrong. And the drama isn't over. The wedding itself was a rush job, brought forward so that Bernie could try to help Aadi (Adam Hussain) out of his debt situation by skimming off some of the wedding money Dev had received from his Aunt Rani (Josephine Lloyd-Welcome). On the big day, Bernie made it down the aisle after a series of setbacks, only to dramatically collapse and have to be rushed to hospital. She was discovered to have had an allergic reaction to the flowers in her bouquet, which brought on an asthma attack. As their worried family members gathered at her bedside, Bernie and Dev exchanged vows and wedding rings and their family pronounced them husband and wife. In the end, it was a wedding that was as unconventional as Bernie herself. There was no time for the newly married couple to relax, though, as soon after that Aadi decided he had to come clean to his dad about the debts he racked up while running the business while Dev was in India. This meant that Bernie also had to confess about her plan to use the wedding money to help Aadi out. Dev was surprisingly understanding, and it was obvious how besotted he is with his new wife. Further complications ensued when Aadi came clean about being to blame for Lauren (Cait Fitton) taking drugs at his party, as the drugs were meant for him. Lauren was furious with him, as was Dev who decided to send his son to India to start a new life and a new job. In upcoming episodes Bernie tried to persuade Dev to give her grandson Brody (Ryan Mulvey) a job at the shop, but a disgruntled Aadi reveals it was Brody who brought the drugs to the party. There's obviously a lot going on, so Bernie has a suggestion for Dev. She reckons they should postpone their honeymoon while he uses the time to mend his relationship with Aadi. More Trending Dev agrees that he needs to patch things up with his son, but he has an idea. He thinks Bernie badly needs a rest after everything that's been going on, so he suggests she goes on the holiday alone. Bernie's grateful for his thoughtfulness and makes plans to leave. TV fans beat the heat and binge iconic 90s series streaming for free

Looking for a way to escape the scorching temperatures across the UK this weekend? Look no further, as Byker Grove is now available to stream for the first time ever. Temperatures are set to soar to 30° in parts of the country, which will be welcome to some after the chaos Storm Floris caused earlier in the week. But for those who prefer to cool off indoors, legendary 90s series Byker may be your saviour. The children's soap opera, which originally aired between 1989 and 2006, was added to STV Player earlier this month. It's just the latest in a long line of cult series that have been added to the Scottish streamer, joining Brookside, Take The High Road and New Zealand hit Shortland Street. Byker launched the careers of some of telly's biggest names including Ant and Dec and Jill Halfpenny, as well as Hollywood star Charlie Hunnam. The show follows the daily exploits of the children and staff who frequent a fictional youth club in the Byker district of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Groundbreaking for the time, storylines included teenage pregnancy, homelessness, drug abuse and the first gay kiss on children's television. The scene, which saw Noddy Fishwick (Brett Adams) peck Gary Hendrix (George Trotter) on the cheek, saw calls for executive producer Matthew Robinson to lose his job. It's without a doubt that the best remembered episode concerns Ant McPartlin's character PJ being blinded in both eyes with a paintball gun. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Now, viewers have flocked to social media to share their delight at the Grove's return to our screens, with one saying they were going to binge the episodes across a weekend. Emma said she was 'going to watch them all' after losing track when she reached adulthood. 'Has anyone else let their kids watch it yet? I let my son (13) watch this morning for the first time, he has fallen in love with it,' asked Lee. In response, Raymond said: 'My kids are 12 and 16 and they love it. I live in Newcastle so I like to look at how things have changed from when I was young.' Superfan Zoe, who travelled seven hours to visit the show's filming location – a former tower house and pub which is now an Islamic school – added: 'Sadly, my kids just think it's really lame and old fashioned.' Despite that, she might've made a breakthrough: 'Since I've started re-watching Byker Grove, my youngest has asked when we're going back to Newcastle.' 'Watching this as an adult brings a whole different perspective,' she continued, reflecting on a story that saw siblings Spuggie (Lyndann Barrass) and Fraser Campbell (John Jefferson) in care. 'Back then I thought the adults were being unreasonable.' More Trending Iain agreed: 'The storyline about Fraser's family life was really hard hitting. Never appreciated this at the time I watched it originally. 'Suppose that's what made it a really good programme as it didn't shy away from those issues.' The entire run of Byker Grove, series 1-18, is available to stream on STV Player now . View More » This article was originally published on 31st July 2025.
