Harrowing ITV Coronation Street episode will show character reach breaking point in emotional hour-long special

Coronation Street's beloved character Asha Alahan will be at the centre of an emotional hour-long special episode, which will air on ITV this month Coronation Street will cast a deeply moving and compelling spotlight on Asha Alahan, portrayed by Tanisha Gorey, in a special hour-long episode that's just been announced. ‌ Fans can catch a first glimpse from Coronation Street 's brand new trailer. The episode will explore the pressures Asha encounters as a trainee paramedic, examining the concealed stresses and tensions lurking beneath her apparent composure. ‌ The later half of the gripping ITV episode unfolds entirely through Asha's viewpoint, looking back to a traumatic day that drives her to her to the brink. ‌ Viewers will witness Asha experience the complete terror of a shift featuring a fatality, a wounded elderly person, and a distressing racist assault, all leading to her frantic battle to catch her breath in the Rovers back garden, consumed by a debilitating panic attack. Whilst her twin brother Aadi, portrayed by Adam Hussain, gets ready to begin a fresh adventure in India, Asha fights her internal struggles, determined to conceal her genuine emotions from her loved ones. To guarantee Asha's story has been presented in the most authentic, compassionate and truthful way, Coronation Street has been collaborating with The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC). Angie Crashley, Wellbeing Support Team Manager at TASC, said: "At TASC, we were pleased to support the Coronation Street team in developing Asha's storyline, helping to ensure that it reflects the real-life experiences and challenges faced by student paramedics. ‌ "Storylines like this play a vital role in raising awareness and breaking down stigma around the pressures ambulance staff can face – especially those who are just starting their careers. We're proud to have contributed to a storyline that highlights both the importance of support and the strength of those working on the frontline. "Our charity supports the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of the UK's ambulance community, and it was important to us that this story was portrayed with sensitivity and accuracy. Since the launch of the Ambulance Staff Crisis phoneline we have supported 1068 people in crisis or at risk of taking their own life, of those 15 were student paramedics. "No matter what role you have in the ambulance community, TASC is here for you – because those who care for others deserve care too." ‌ Regarding Asha's forthcoming storyline, actress Tanisha added: "I feel honoured to be trusted with a storyline of this scale and significance. Stepping into the shoes of a trainee paramedic and exploring the highs, lows, and emotional challenges of their work has been both moving and eye-opening. It's a role that carries a huge responsibility, and I hope we've done justice to the reality so many face. If this story reaches even one person, sparks a conversation, or offers a moment of understanding, then it's served its purpose."

One Night cast, release date and plot as Jodie Whittaker drama lands on ITV

Six-part Australian drama One Night is coming to ITV this month, and here's everything you need to know... A new six-part TV drama is due to land on ITV 1, starring Doctor Who favourite Jodie Whittaker and Netflix star Yael Stone. ‌ One Night, originally released in 2023, is an Australian drama following three friends whose lives have been changed by a traumatic event. ‌ Written and created by Emily Ballou, the show was made by Easy Tiger Productions and Motive Pictures for Paramount+. Filming took place in Sydney and the Illawara region of New South Wales throughout 2023. ‌ As we get set to spend our Saturday nights watching One Night, here we've rounded up everything you need to know, including the full cast, how to watch and the plot. What is One Night about? One Night focuses on the story of three women, Tess, Simone and Hat, whose bond was nearly destroyed by the traumatic events of one night two decades ago. The description continues: "Since then, Simone has harboured secret hopes of becoming a novelist but most of her haphazard attempts have been shoved into her bottom drawer. Now, at the age of 40, she has finally written the one story she could never get out of her mind, and her debut manuscript has become an unexpected overnight success. "But it soon becomes apparent that the devastating story the book tells doesn't exclusively belong to her. At the heart of Simone's novel is a tragedy which also happened to Tess and Hat, her two childhood best friends. "As it becomes harder to prise fact from fiction, one person's memory and story from another's, the book threatens to derail all their friendships, bringing old traumas to the surface of the small coastal community where they grew up, and stirring its perpetrators, who want to make it all go away." ‌ Full cast One Night's cast is led by Jodie Whittaker, who takes on the role of Tess. She is joined by Nicole da Silva, playing Simone, while Yael Stone portrays Hat. Actresses Mikaela Binns-Rorke, Bridgette Armstrong and Bella Ridgway play young versions of Tess, Simone and Hat respectively. Elsewhere, George Mason portrays Joey, with David Howell playing young Joey, Erroll Shand is Trevor along with Shane Osborne playing young Trevor, and Damien Strouthos takes on the role of Mark, with Alan Dalziel cast as the younger edition of the character. ‌ Kat Stewart plays the role of Tess with Tina Bursill playing Helen, while William Zappa is Don, Noni Hazlehurst is Mary and Jillian Nguyen plays Eden. Making up the remainder of the cast is Harper Simon, Jude Hyland, Fiona Press, Wadih Dona, Les Hill, Anthony Brandon Wong and Zac Burgess. ‌ How to watch One Night was first released in Australia on Paramount+ in September 2023. It then landed on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland later that same year, but was removed by February 2024. The series has been made available to stream in Australia via Netflix. One Night will begin airing on ITV and ITVX on Saturday, 17 August. The show consists of six one-hour episodes, which will air on ITV1 on a weekly basis. The series will be available to watch on ITVX. One Night beings airing on ITV on Saturday, 17 August at 9.30pm
