Auburn to host Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson for visit
Auburn to host Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson for visit Auburn has its sights on guard Lamar Wilkerson, who averaged 20.7 points per game for Sam Houston this season.
Auburn's senior-laden roster is set for a major overhaul next season and is searching for the nation's best talent in the transfer portal to fill vital spaces.
One player that Bruce Pearl and the coaching staff have their eyes on is Lamar Wilkerson, an all-Conference USA guard from Sam Houston State. According to Joe Tipton of On3, Auburn is one of several power teams Wilkerson plans to visit over the next several days. The official date for Wilkerson's visit is unknown due to the current dead period that will last until Friday, April 11. Once the dead period ends, Wilkerson and many others will be free to visit prospective schools.
Wilkerson has started in 64 games over the last two seasons at Sam Houston State and averaged 17.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. The 2024-25 season was his best to date as he ended the year by scoring 20.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He also logged 36 steals and 67 assists while shooting 48% from the field. He earned a first-team slot on the All-Conference USA team due to his stellar season.
Auburn's guard rotation will be bare next season as Denver Jones, JP Pegues, and Miles Kelly are out of eligibility. Chad Baker-Mazara could return due to an NCAA ruling that gives former JUCO athletes another season of eligibility. Tahaad Pettiford will be a true sophomore next season, however, he recently declared for the NBA draft while maintaining college status. Neither player has officially announced their intentions to stay or leave, but adding a talented guard such as Wilkerson will be vital to a team that is set to lose over 50% of their roster this offseason.
In addition to Auburn, Wilkerson will visit Kentucky, Indiana, and Ole Miss. Indiana and newly-named head coach Darian DeVries are the favorites to land Wilkerson, according to a prediction from On3's Pete Nakos.

Ranking the prospects in Texas Longhorns 2026 recruiting class
Ranking the prospects in Texas Longhorns 2026 recruiting class The summer recruiting season is in full swing. Schools are hosting recruits and holding camps, like the Longhorns did last week. elite Five-Star Challenge is in 11 days. Recruits are making tough decisions by either reducing the number of schools on their list or outright committing. Texas has seen four players commit in the past week. DT Dylan Berymon, WR Kohen Brown, DT Corey Wells and P Mikey Bukauskas have all added their names to the list of committed prospects in UT's 2026 recruiting class. The Longhorns currently have 13 prospects pledged to play on the 40 Acres. According to On3's industry team rankings, Texas has the No. 13 class in the nation. In the past few years, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has a measured approach to recruiting early in the cycle. There will be signings early, but many of the elite prospects want to wait until closer to National Signing Day in December. Much of the summer is spent building relationships with those five-star and high four-star players so Texas is in good position to sign them late. Much like Justus Terry in the 2025 cycle. Here's a look at the current 2026 Longhorn recruiting class using On3's industry rankings, which combines all of the ratings from the major recruiting sites. Remember, the devil is in the details.
