Moroccan surfer Ramzi Boukhiam's Rip Curl Pro ends in agony with knee injury

Moroccan surfer Ramzi Boukhiam's run at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, Australia, came to a painful end after he sustained a serious knee injury while exiting the water following his heat.
Boukhiam, who placed last in Heat 6, was walking across rocks back to shore when a wave struck him from behind, causing his left knee to twist. A video captured him crying out in pain, clutching his leg, and being helped from the water by fellow surfers.
The 31-year-old was later taken off the beach in a medicab and seen limping on crutches into the event's medical suite. World No. 1 Italo Ferreira, who competed in the same heat, described the moment on the event broadcast:

«He'd just finished the wave and was waiting for the score. I saw him walking, then he went into the rock. The other wave hit him from behind… he said, 'I'm gone, I'm gone.'»
On Instagram, Boukhiam shared a photo of himself being helped from the water by two surfers, writing: «Life doesn't always make sense… and right now, it's really tough to accept what happened».
«Getting a major injury — again — and during a contest I felt so ready for, just breaks me», he added. «With everything I've already been through, it honestly hits deep».
He thanked fellow surfers for their support and vowed to come back «stronger than ever», saying, «everything happens for a reason».
Boukhiam was competing at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, the longest-running event in professional surfing and one of the most iconic stops on the World Surf League Championship Tour.

Bounou began with Atlético Madrid before making his name in La Liga with Real Zaragoza, Girona, and Sevilla, where he won the UEFA Europa League twice. 'From Yassine Bounou to Rayan Azouagh… the tradition continues,' a page dedicated to young Moroccan footballers wrote . Ittihad Tanger recently announced Azough's departure and wished him 'great success in his professional career.' The club highlighted his strong performances last season, especially in matches against AS FAR (1-1), Wydad AC (2-2) in the league, and Stade Marocain in the Coupe de l'Excellence. CHAN 2024: Niger vs South Africa – How to Watch & Predicted Score

Niger and South Africa meet at Mandela National Stadium in a Group C match that could decide their CHAN 2024 futures. Moroccan referee Bouchra Karboubi will blow the kick-off whistle at 6:00 pm (GMT+1), and fans can catch the action live on BeIN Sports MENA, BeIN Sports France, and SuperSport. Niger have yet to earn a point from their opening two games. Coach Harouna Doulla said: 'Tomorrow's game against South Africa will undoubtedly be a tough one for both teams. We are still looking for our first point in this competition, but we believe anything can happen. It will be difficult, but not impossible.' The team is in transition, with young players such as 17-year-old Abdeljelil Ahamat central to the rebuild. Doulla added: 'Our immediate goal is to secure our first point, and we want to achieve that in this game.' South Africa sit on four points from two matches. Coach Molefi Ntseki warned: 'When it comes to tournament football, it is crucial to adjust strategies according to the opponent. Even though Niger hasn't scored any points yet, we cannot underestimate them. They are a well-structured and dangerous team at certain moments in the game.' Ntseki stressed the importance of controlling their own destiny. 'The two remaining matches are decisive. If we don't win, we will depend on calculations and combinations, and that is something we want to avoid. It is up to us to do our job and secure qualification.' Captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele said: 'This game against Niger is very important for us as a team. We know we will face a strong and well-organized opponent, but we are mentally and physically prepared. Playing in a stadium that honors Nelson Mandela is a privilege, and it gives us the strength to defend our country's colors with determination.' Ahamat said for Niger: 'Morale is high. Two losses don't mean everything is over. We will fight to earn our first points. Investing in young players like me is crucial for the future, and I hope to continue contributing to the growth of Nigerien football.' South Africa have two wins and a draw from three previous CHAN meetings. Niger will remember 2011, when they held Bafana Bafana to a goalless draw, eliminating the South Africans. Lorch Leaves Sundowns for Permanent Move to Wydad

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that Thembinkosi Lorch has left the club, almost two years after joining from Orlando Pirates, as coach Miguel Cardoso trims his squad. Lorch is set to rejoin Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club on a permanent two-year deal, following a successful six-month loan spell. The move comes after Wydad and Sundowns agreed on the transfer. Sundowns said in a statement: 'Thank you, Nyoso! After two unforgettable years, one league title, 26 appearances, seven goals and four assists, the Yellow Nation thanks and celebrates Thembinkosi Lorch. Wishing you all the best as you start the next chapter of your journey!' Lorch also posted on Instagram: 'As I turn to the next chapter of my career, I want to thank Masandawana for welcoming, embracing and supporting me. To the Chairman and The Board, thank you for allowing me to spread my wings up North. To my former teammates, Coaches and Technical Team, I am privileged to have played with you and under your guidance. Ka Bo Yellow Masandawana ✌️' At Wydad, coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem sees Lorch as a key addition to the attack, with options to play him as a central striker or second forward. Now the Casablanca-based club will shift its focus to signing a left-back, after cancelling plans for a right-back and striker. Wydad's summer window has been busy. Alongside Lorch, the club has signed Amin Abou Fath (Kuwait), Joseph Bakasso (Manima Union, DR Congo), Walid Sebbar (Nahdat Zemamra), Abdelghafour Lamirat (Olympic Safi), Guilherme Ferreira de Oliveira (Vilafranquense, Portugal), Bart Myers (Borac Banja Luka, Bosnia), Hamza El Ouasti (Ittihad Tanger), Hamza Hanouri (Fath Rabat), Stefan Aziz Ki (Young Africans, Tanzania), and Sofiane Amrabat (free agent).
