Kangana Ranaut has often praised PM Modi. The actress contested on BJP ticket and won the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
Kangana Ranaut believes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the world's greatest feminist. In a recent interview, the Bollywood actress-turned-politician praised PM Modi and shared that he has taken several measures to make the lives of women in the country easier.
'Modi ji se bada feminist mujhe nahi lagta is world mein koi hain! Ek toh wo jaise hi pehle aaye yaha jo samasya hain toilet ki, sabse pehle aake hi unhone wo banwaye… toh logo ne kaha ki kya gusalkhana banwa rahe ho? Unhone sabse pehle woh kaam kiya! Phir dusra kaam unhone gas-chulhe diye, ki woh pehle toh lakdi laye phir khana banaye? Phir unke account khulwaye… Phir unka reservation kiya (He is the biggest feminist in the world. The first thing he did after he came to power was to make toilets, and everyone else wondered what he was doing… then he gave them a gas oven so that the women would not have to cut the wood and then make food. Then he made them open bank accounts, then gave them reservations in politics)," she told Hauterrfly.
'Aise anginat kaam… I don't want to make it preachy but mujhe lagta hain unse jyada bada feminist maine toh life main nahi dekha. Uske upar se kabhi ye cheez nahi dikhana ki haan hum bohot bade feminist hain. He is a silent feminist (There are so many things, he is truly the biggest feminist I have seen. Also he has never shown off that he has done these many things for women)," the actress added.

Box Office: Coolie and War 2 ensure a bumper opening weekend in India; Rajinikanth, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR contribute Rs 430 crore in 4 days

Coolie and War 2 are the two latest releases of Indian cinema. While the Rajinikanth starrer is performing well, the latter is struggling to gain the much-needed traction. Since both movies were released on Thursday, they enjoyed a 4-day extended opening weekend. However, exhibitors are happy as both Independence Day releases have brought audiences back to the cinemas. Coolie and War 2 collectively rakes in Rs 430 crore during the Independence Day weekend Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened with Rs 75.50 crore. It further raked in Rs 63.50 crore on Day 2 and Rs 47.50 crore on Day 3. As per estimates, the movie stormed over Rs 44 crore on its Day 4, bringing the opening weekend cume to Rs 230 crore gross at the Indian box office. While on the other hand, War 2 kickstarted its box office run with Rs 59 crore on its opening day. It further collected Rs 67 crore on the Independence Day followed by Rs 38 crore on the third day. Estimates suggest the movie added another Rs 35 crore to the tally on its fourth day, bringing the opening weekend total to Rs 200 crore gross in India. Collectively, both Coolie and War 2 sums up Rs 430 crore gross at the domestic box office. Had both movies performed to their full potential, the combined figure would have easily surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark in the first weekend alone. Globally, both movies have clocked over the Rs 600 crore mark in the first four days of their theatrical runs. Coolie performs best down South, War 2 dominates the Northern belt Coolie fared best in its home turf along with Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In contrast, War 2 dominated the North India belt with a solid margin. Both Independence Day releases are expected to end their theatrical run on a similar figure in India, with Coolie leading the clash. However, the Lokesh Kanagaraj movie will maintain a big margin in the international markets. It will be interesting to see whether both of them collectively can reach the Rs 1000 crore mark globally, as none of them now can achieve the four-digit magical figure alone. GDMO candidates securing 14 out of 100 recommended for recruitment, state govt should rectify the situation: Ex-Tripura CM Manik Sarkar

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar Sunday took potshots at the BJP-led government over the state public service panel recommending candidates with marks as low as 14 for the posts of general duty medical officers (GMDOs). 'We have come across media reports that the candidates who got 14 marks were recruited (as doctors). Those who have recruited them… it's their responsibility. If the general knowledge of the doctor is not good, then it may be a problem. It's good that attempts are being made to recruit doctors after a long time. But if they are taken irrespective of their quality… it might lead to a completely different result than expected. It may not be true in all cases, it may be true for only a few cases… but the government should take responsibility to rectify it,' Sarkar told reporters on the sidelines of a blood donation camp at Jirania in West Tripura. Three days ago, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha had congratulated the newly-recommended GDMO candidates. 'Heartfelt congratulations to all the newly recommended GDMO candidates. Wishing you great success as you embark on this noble journey, serving humanity with dedication & compassion. Your commitment to healthcare will make a difference,' CM Saha wrote on his Facebook page, sharing a Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) notification for recruitment against GDMO posts. The notification, which cleared the recruitment of 216 medical officers in the grade IV of Tripura Health Services, also said that eight posts remained vacant since no one was found suitable to be recommended, along with nine posts reserved for 'persons with disabilities'. The notification soon landed in a controversy, especially among netizens who were found divided in their opinion about medical officers getting recruited with marks as less as 14 out of 100.
