Emotional scenes unfold at TDP Mahanadu in Kadapa as AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu praises district president for grand success of party's maiden conclave
This was followed by a massive public meeting attended by more than five lakh people from across the state.
Since the inception of the TDP back in the 1980s, the TDP never held its party annual conclave, Mahanadu, at Kadapa in the last forty years, as Kadapa remained a stronghold of the Congress party and then the YSRCP until 2019.
However, after the TDP-led NDA alliance managed to make inroads into Kadapa, considered the bastion of former Chief Minister

, in the 2024 general elections by securing 7 out of 10 assembly seats, coupled with the party securing 45 out of 52 assembly constituencies in the four Rayalaseema districts of the state, the TDP leadership deemed it fit to hold their maiden Mahanadu at Kadapa.
This decision came in the first year after the NDA alliance stormed back to power by securing a landslide victory, winning 164 out of 175 assembly constituencies in the general elections.
After Kadapa became host to the first-ever TDP Mahanadu attended by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu himself, along with all his council of ministers and other elected representatives from the TDP on the first two days of the event on Tuesday and Wednesday, all eyes were on the grand finale.
This was held in the form of a public meeting, which was scheduled to be attended by over five lakh people from across the state.
When the chief minister reached the public meeting venue at Kadapa on Friday, he was thoroughly ecstatic with the arrangements and the overflowing crowds.
When Chandrababu Naidu looked at Kadapa district TDP President Sreenivasulu Reddy and remarked, 'Srinivas, you have done an excellent job in terms of the arrangements,' the latter couldn't control his joy and broke down emotionally into tears as the appreciation came directly from the CM.
During his address at the public meeting, Naidu appreciated the efforts of the Kadapa district TDP unit and the alliance partners in securing 7 out of 10 assembly constituencies in Kadapa in the previous elections.
He urged them to keep up their spirits and aim to secure a complete clean sweep by winning 10 out of 10 assembly seats in Kadapa district in the 2029 general elections.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday termed as 'baseless and irresponsible' Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's claim his party had uncovered an 'atom bomb' of evidence proving voters lists were manipulated on a large scale, and said that it ignores such statements. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said the Congress began investigating after noticing irregularities during the Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Lok Sabha elections. He alleged that over 10 million voters were fraudulently added to the rolls. 'There was a suspicion in the elections in Madhya Pradesh and the Lok Sabha, and it deepened in the Maharashtra assembly polls. At the state level, we believed there was a vote theft,' Gandhi said. 'It took us six months to study this in detail.' Gandhi issued a warning: 'Whoever is doing this, from top to bottom in the ECI, we won't spare you. You're working against the nation. This is treason.' In response, ECI said, 'The Election Commission ignores such baseless allegations being made on a daily basis and despite the daily threats being given, (it) asks all election officials to ignore such irresponsible statements and work in a fair and transparent manner.' 'Will Rahul Gandhi explode like a bomb? What do you think? Their job is to explode. They have no other work to do,' BJP leader Sambit Patra told reporters at the BJP headquarters. He said the Opposition party speaks of such things because they have no faith in democracy. 'We are those who have faith in democracy. If they explode an atom bomb, we will save the Constitution,' Patra said.

AP Discoms seek ERC nod to collect true-up charges of Rs 12,771 cr
Vijayawada: The three power distribution companies (discoms) in the state have filed a petition before Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC), seeking permission to collect Rs 12,771 crore from consumers through true-up charges. The ERC released the notification asking the public to file their objections/suggestions on the petitions filed by the discoms. The Left parties have demanded that the govt immediately withdraw the proposal. According to the affidavit, SPDCL wants to collect Rs 3,046 crore through true-up charges to recover the actual costs of power supplied from 2019 to 2024. APEPDCL has urged the commission to allow it to collect Rs 7,790 crore, while APCPDCL wants to recover Rs 1,935 crore. The discoms have been collecting fuel and power purchase cost adjustment (FPPCA) charges for the past three years. Recently, the distribution companies filed a petition before APERC seeking ratification of its decision to collect 40 paise per unit, which has been continuing for the past six months. He blamed the previous YSRCP govt for the discoms' move to collect the true-up and FPPCA charges. "The mismanagement and irregularities during the YSRCP regime forced discoms to recover the true-up and FPPCA charges from the consumer. The discoms have filed petitions to collect the dues pertaining to the YSRCP regime," Gottipati claimed. Dismissing the minister's allegations, CPI-M leaders V Srinivasa Rao and Ch Baburao said blaming the previous regime is only a "cover-up act" by the TDP-led NDA govt, and warned of agitations across the state if the discoms did not withdraw the true-up charges notice.
