Is Boston Celtics backup shooting guard Baylor Scheierman about to have a breakout season?
And with star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum out for likely all of the coming 2025-25 regular season, Boston is going to need to find scoring wherever it can find it. Scheierman in particular seems poised to see his role get much bigger for the Celtics, and famed Boston forward and now broadcaster Cedric Maxwell is expecting to see big things from the Creighton alum.
Maxwell broke down his vision for Scheierman in the season ahead on a recent episode of his eponymous CLNS Media "Cedric Maxwell" podcast, breaking it down with cohost John Zannis. Check it out below!

NHL Rumors: Bruins Targeted New Maple Leafs Forward
The Boston Bruins made several new additions to their roster so far this summer. While this is the case, they were also reportedly interested in a recently acquired Toronto Maple Leafs forward. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins were one of the teams interested in Matias Maccelli before he was traded by the Utah Mammoth to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Advertisement "I heard there were three or four teams that were in on Maccelli," Friedman said. "I think Boston was one, and I think Edmonton was one." With Maccelli being a 24-year-old winger who has had past success in the NHL, it is not particularly surprising that the Bruins had him on their radar. It is no secret that their forward group needs more offense, and landing a winger like Maccelli could have helped things a bit on that front. While Maccelli posted just 18 points in 55 games last season with Utah, he is a prime bounce-back candidate heading into 2025-26 with the Maple Leafs. Just back in 2023-24 with the Arizona Coyotes, he recorded 17 goals and 57 points in 82 games. He also recorded 11 goals and 49 points in 64 contests with Arizona back in 2022-23, so there is no question that he can be an impactful forward when playing at his best. Nevertheless, Maccelli would have had the potential to be a strong addition to Boston's middle six. However, the Bruins will instead be facing him more often now that he has been traded to Toronto. Why are the Boston Celtics interested in signing former Bucks guard Damian Lillard?
Why are the Boston Celtics interested in signing former Milwaukee Bucks floor general Damian Lillard? The Celtics are looking at a soft tank season while they wait for star forward Jayson Tatum to return to the court from an injured Achilles tendon, and will not likely be contending for titles by the end of the NBA's 2025-26 regular season. In fact, the Celtics are not even a lock to make the postseason as they scale back spending in light of Tatum's injury and the crushing weight of the second apron restrictions created by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) to punish teams with expensive rosters. So why would Boston add ANOTHER player currently recovering from an Achilles tear who will be about 37 years old and an undersized guard with defensive weaknesses even before the injury? Check it out below to hear their thoughts on the interest in Dame. This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Why are the Celtics interested in signing Damian Lillard?

The Boston Celtics and Damian Lillard reportedly have mutual interest in teaming up
The Boston Celtics and Damian Lillard have mutual interest in teaming up, according to recent reporting making the rounds in the NBA media. The Celtics of course are on the lookout for ways to add cheap talent to their roster after paring down their cap hits by dealing away veterans Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. Lillard, on the other side of a potential contract, was recently cut by the Milwaukee Bucks due to his long recovery to a torn Achilles tendon and massive contract with the Bucks. Now that he has another ball club paying that salary for him, Dame could be that cheap talent Boston is looking for, with Lillard able to take the coming 2025-26 season off to recover alongside star Boston forward Jayson Tatum, who is dealing with the same injury and general timeline. Advertisement The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Boston has Entered the Chat" pod taking a closer look at such a potential partnership. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about Dame to the Celtics!
