BJP accuses Congress of misleading BCs with unconstitutional ordinance on reservations
Addressing the media on Wednesday, he alleged that the Congress Party had reached the 'peak of vile politics' in Telangana and was trying to manipulate BCs with false promises. He cited the Kamareddy Declaration, which claimed to offer 42 percent reservation for BCs in local bodies, and questioned its legal validity. 'The Congress is using Telangana as a political laboratory,' he said, adding that the ordinance issued lacked Assembly approval and legal backing.
Referring to constitutional hurdles, Venkateswarlu reiterated that BJP State President Ramchander Rao, a legal expert, had clarified the implications of the 9th Schedule and emphasized that religious-based reservations are not permissible. He further warned that by allegedly allocating portions of BC quotas to Muslims, the ordinance would only deliver 32 percent actual reservation to BCs, calling it 'unconstitutional.
He highlighted Congress's prior failure to fulfill reservation promises—including the Udaipur Declaration and caste census commitments in Karnataka—and criticized its lack of representation for BCs at the Chief Minister and Prime Minister levels.
Calling for transparency, Venkateswarlu urged the Congress government to publicly release details of the caste census and clarify its legal strategy for implementing BC reservations.
He stressed the need for a constitutionally sound law instead of pre-election ordinances, which he described as 'short-sighted appeasement tactics.'
Venkateswarlu stated that the BJP has consistently worked to uplift Dalits, Bahujans, BCs, and middle-class communities—citing its central cabinet composition as proof of its inclusive governance. He reaffirmed the BJP's promise to appoint a BC Chief Minister if elected in Telangana and called on the people to hold Congress accountable to its guarantees.

He has also repeatedly courted controversy by calling his own government "beggars" Shiv Sena ministers Sanjay Rathod, Bharat Gogawale, and Yogesh Kadam, NCP Minister Narhari Zirwa and Water Resources Minister and BJP MLA Girish Mahajan There is also speculation that State Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, who is reportedly interested in a ministerial role, may be inducted into the cabinet. The meeting served as a platform for Congress leaders to reaffirm the party's commitment to the development of Hindu temples and ensure religious harmony. 'Misinformation is being systematically spread that funds from Hindu temples are being used for the development of mosques and churches,' Rao said. He added: 'This is not only false, but even sections of the national media have unfortunately echoed these baseless claims.' He highlighted the historical and financial support extended by the Congress government to temples, pointing out that it was under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's leadership that the tasdik grant — financial aid given to temples — was increased multiple times: from Rs 24,000 to Rs 36,000, then to Rs 48,000, and most recently to Rs 72,000. He also noted that the tasdik system itself was introduced by his father, former Chief Minister R Gundu Rao, as compensation following the abolition of the Inam land grants.

MNS alleges irregularities in Rs 6,000cr Mumbai solid waste management tender
Mumbai: The MNS neta Sandeep Deshpande has alleged irregularities in the Rs 6,000 crore solid waste management tender of the BMC. He claimed that the son of a former BJP MP from Gujarat interfered in the tender process, which was twisted to ensure his company got the contract. Deshpande alleged that the BMC floated tenders for each administrative ward, and the conditions in the tender were included in such a way that only a few selected companies got selected. He demanded that the matter be investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Deshpande said he collected the related documents and sought time with the BMC commissioner to submit those details, demanding an inquiry into the alleged tendering fraud. Deshpande said, "All the documents are available in public domain. Earlier also I raised the tender condition issue and stated that it was changed to favour select companies. Now, those companies have been shortlisted for the work."
